UPDATE: Alice Marshall is back to her disgusting ways:
From her blog tonight:
------------------------------------------
Friday
Republicans who hurt children, Ed Barber
Republicans who hurt children.
---------------------------------
1) Ed hasn't been convicted yet.
2) Republicans who hurt children? That's a sick link.
When will Fairfax Democrats distance themselves from Alice Marshall?
Alice's comments were base and offensive, not to mention the fact that Barber is a Democrat - the lone Democratic member of the county's BOS. Regardless of anyone's feelings about the veracity of these charges, or their political ID, people should first take into account the effect that this allegation has on him, his family, and the accuser. Alice's post was base, and it is offensive that she'd use this horrible incident for petty political purposes.

Agree, showed poor taste and judgment.

Alice the Brain Surgeon has issued a retraction:
Friday
Ed Barber
Chesterfield County police have arrested Edward B. Barber, 49, chairman of the county Board of Supervisors, in connection with the aggravated sexual battery of a minor.
Edit-
Ed Barber is a Democrat. Post has been altered to reflect this. I looked at the Chesterfield Republican site and saw his name and incorrectly assumed he was Republican, even though they have indentified Barber as a Democrat.
GOTV blog regrets the error.

So I assume Alice's post will now run under the amended eadline "Democrats Who Hurt Children, Ed Barber?"
Just wondering.....
For the record, he's still innocent until proven guilty.

Alice Marshall says she apologies, but she has not said what she apologizes for. Did she apologize for:
1. Mislabeling the party of the accused?
or
2. Implying that Republicans routinely hurt children?
or
3. Assuming that someone who has been accused of a crime is guilty before there is a verdict, or even hardly any facts are available?
Because I do not have a blog account, I cannot post this on Alice Marshall's site.

I'm shocked and disturbed by these allegations against Ed. He has been my supervisor for 12 years. He's a neighbor and I've known him for years. He even helped me earn a merit badge when i was boy scout.
He has always seemed like an upstanding guy. I will continue to stick by him unless he is found guilty. If he's found innocent, his career as supervisor is probably still over. The media is going to grill him on this. Absolutely grill him...

I just wanted to add that I am glad he was convicted. I am a Very close friend to the daughter he hurt and I am glad he finally had to pay for his actions. That poor girl has been threw a lot because of him. And her mother is a sick woman. I hope she gets what she deserves as well. Thanks for posting this article and allowing us to respond.
