BYRNE FOR WEBB
Virginia Centrist speculates: "A Byrne endorsement would probably be the most important endorsement that Webb could receive (outside of Mark Warner or Tim Kaine).
Byrne has a cadre of loyal followers. If she (1) endorsed Webb and (2) campaigned for him, I think he'd beat Harris Miller."
-------------------------------------------
Leslie Byrne endorses James Webb tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in Arlington.
This primary is now rated as "Leaning Webb"
---------------------------
The official comment from the release:
“Today I announce my full support for Jim Webb and his candidacy for U.S. Senate,” said Byrne. “I believe Jim is the best kind of democrat who will stand up for all Virginians as well as fight for what is right in Washington. Jim is the kind of candidate we need to win in November.” “Jim will do us proud, not only in this campaign but as our Senator.”
Jim Webb is a former U.S. Secretary of the Navy, award-winning journalist and author. Webb officially kicked off his campaign to seek the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate last week in Richmond.
“I am honored to have a woman like Leslie Byrne offer her strong vote of confidence and support in my candidacy,” said Webb. “Leslie has given most of her life in service to our community. I am proud to have her stand with me through this campaign.
Byrne will serve as Senior Advisor to the Webb campaign.

UPDATE:
Kenton Ngo has put this map together at my request. It shows the localities in Virginia where Byrne placed first or second in the four way Democratic primary this past June.
Meanwhile......
Perservando put this graphic up. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
I'm hoping it's Chuck Robb. That would be classic.

I hear that the Tooth Faerie is endorsing Webb.

No, we need Leslie to rebut this crap about him being anti-woman. Please let it be Leslie!

If it's Leslie Harris should drop out

Who really gives a crap about whoever is endorsing the Senate Democratic candidate.
No matter who the candidate is, that individual can eventually put on his resume that he lost to George Allen.

Let's start a pool!
Hmmm, let's look at the clues . . . Ben says it's big . . . hmmm . . . Chap has shown some interest, maybe . . . hmmmm. I have to guess in the the context of the moment for it to be really big, that it will be Leslie Byrne, but that's just an educated guess: I have no secret source.

I'm with you J.C., although I wouldn't be surprised if it were some national fighting Dem: Clark, Murtha, Cleland... somebody like that.

I heard James Webb just got spiderman's endorsement.

Leslie Byrne would be HUGE.
That could tip the election...

Actually, it's "A Voter."

This just in... Jack Bauer, after shooting 17 Harris Miller supporters standing in his way, took the podium and gave James Webb his full endorsement. "James Webb knows how to kill terrorists. Maybe not as good as I kill them, but I still support James Webb for U.S. Senate."
Harris Miller dropped to his knees and prayed for forgiveness, much like President Logan, after hearing his favorite television hero endorsed Mr. Webb. The Miller campaign released a statement noting, "If Jack Bauer supports James Webb, there is no reason I [Harris Miller] or George Allen should even be in this race."

ok, upon second thoughts, it's either going to be John Murtha or General Wesley Clark.
prove me wrong, NLS.

Is Jim Webb endorsing Harris Miller?
Posted by: Freddie | March 14, 2006 at 03:08 PM
Either would be big, but I'm personally hoping for Byrne. Could be Chap, though. I don't know if I'd call that huge, but it would be nice at least.
Posted by: Dannyboy | March 14, 2006 at 03:10 PM
By either, I meant Clark or Murtha.
Posted by: Dannyboy | March 14, 2006 at 03:10 PM
This is almost as much fun as Fitzmas.

ZB,
"No Comment" :-)

I like Leslie and all, but who cares if she endorses anyone? All she's ever shown is that she needs a perfect storm (the 1992 Democratic miracle year or the third-party candidate in 1999) to win a general election of major consequence.
