» Is James Webb a Fascist? from Classical Values
Glenn Reynolds is tsk-tsking along with others, but how many people have seen the cartoon rather than read a lurid description? I think the spin is more than a little misleading, particularly because the drawings, while bad, are fairly accurate... [Read More]

He looks better on the flyer than he does on Chris Matthew's Hardball. It's just a ploy to drum up a few extra votes for Miller and maybe disgust others into not voting. This is old school voter supression for the most part. Webb has passed the test by winning the two televised debates. Some hard care "Likud" Democrats may freak; but some hard core "Jesus freak" Democrats didn't like Miller's "Old Testatment Kind of Guy" quote so it's a wash. Next issue?

Parsing Pixels: Miller's Shillers fail in "Thursday Surprise".

That's not the same picture they used in the Fredericksburg paper article that they claimed was used at some event down south. Is this the image in question?

Doug, there are three pictures drawn. That's one of the three, but they were all drawn with different outlines.

I'm obviously not the biggest Webb fan as a politician, but this is ridiculous. I mean, Miller has a heavy face and swarthy, Nixon-like features. Thats just the way he looks. Webb's only mistake is making these fliers in cartoon form, rather than just using realy pictures. Anyone who thinks Webb or his campaign is anti-Semetic is drinking too much or spoiling for a fight that will do nothing but hurt the commonwealth.
This is a dirty trick to try and just tie the terms "anti-Semetic" and "Webb campaign" together days before what should be a low-turnout primary. I will go after Webb or Miller, but on politics and issues. This is a fake controversy. Spending 10 minutes reading about James Webb, you just know he dosn't have a hateful bone in his body.

I've disagreed with you in the past, but thanks for saying this.

It is ridiculous. It's also classic Miller. He has claimed "diversity" and equal opportunity all the while offshore outsourcing jobs which displaces a disproportionate number of women and American minorities and has institutionalized age discrimination, especially in the IT professions.
It's not surprising for Miller to try to play the race card when the cartoon is calling him out on the destruction of America's good paying jobs and careers.

Ben, this is ridiculous. Can't you see that the gentiles on the Miller campaign know anti-Semitism better than Webb's Jewish supporters? Come on.

In fairness to Miller, he does have anti-Semitism expert Jim Moran in his corner.
I think this is much ado about nothing.

Whatever - The cartoon, however you decode it, is still an example of the amateur hour.
That anyone would put out something like that - calling your opponent "killer" etc - is ridiculous.
BTW I am still waiting for my first piece of mail from Webb.
We have received two aut-dials (I think - one for sure) and that is it.
Whoever wins the primary needs to step it up.

Don't blame the Webb campaign for Hariis miller being the ugliest candidate in Virginia Political History!

I'd be DELIGHTED if someone could do as flattering a caricature of me. I once had a case with enough significance that one of those artists allowed in Federal court showed up and did some drawings. While recognizing the limits on what the artist had to work with, I certainly wasn't pleased with the likeness.

This is what the experts said about Webb's "awesome" SuperZero cartoon flyer:
"That doesn't look so good. There's no question to me that's replete with anti-Semitic stereotypes," said Mark Feldstein, an associate professor of media and public affairs at George Washington University. "I'm not someone who readily cries anti-Semitism, but I think it's hard to look at this and not see a number of anti-Semitic stereotypes plugged into this ad, from the hook nose to the 'antichrist' to the money-grubbing character."
"Bruce Newman, a professor of marketing at DePaul University and editor of the Journal of Political Marketing, said it reminded him of 1930s German propaganda, where the Jewish character was subtly made out to be the thieving villain."
"It very much crosses the line," said Newman, who is Jewish. "I'm speaking with my professional hat on now. It's a modern-day caricature of the quote-unquote villain, the one who's out to make life difficult and hurt people in the town. I've seen literature from those days and this offends me quite a bit."
So it is more than Jim Moran going on the record...

Harris Miller needs to take a look in the mirror - end of story.

The charicature LOOKS LIKE HARRIS MILLER!!!!
Stop trying to defame Jim Webb, Shaun, by falsely accusing him of anti-semitism. You are engaging in the vilest form of politics possible.
