Ben, let it go. You know the Miller camp and the Republicans supporting him because he is the weaker candidate want this manufactured lie to drag on till Tues and be the center story. It is a strategy to divert attention from Miller's outsourcing activities which was the central thrust of the flier.
We should be focusing on GOTV for Webb.

Lenny,
While canvassing: all the Miller supporters I have met have been Democrats.
Its the independents who are interested in Webb.
Who do you think is going to vote Tuesday?

I look at it this way:
I posted this at the bottom of the last thread. If NLSD wants to delete it, ok by me.
1. No one really believes Webb is an anti-Semite - even Sean Kenney I'm sure.
2. Everyone I speak with (I don't speak w/ staffers of either candidate) believes Webb has run a horrendous campaign.
3. The Webb bloggers have turned off a lot of people and have been mean-spirited and ridiculous all the way through.
4. Mr. Miller, although not a charismatic candidate by any means has shown guts, tenacity and the ability to run a professional campaign that jumps on his opponent and does not let go.
5. Mr. Webb has a much better profile to run against Allen, no question. However, all we have seen is the profile. Miserable campaign, a candidate who is not at half as many events/places as Miller, unschooled on the issues despite numerous interviews and appearances, and for someone who was presented as the most formidable candidate in years, an uncanny ability to not be able to raise money. Webb started with a great profile to run, and that is still all we have.
6. If Miller wins it's because they ran a much better campaign. Webb is deserving of a much better campaign.
7. If Miller wins, he will be a tough customer for Allen. I do not see him in any shape to be president because Miller will take the fight to him
8. If Webb wins. He needs to start traveling like he wants to win and quit with the amateur hour campaign.
9) Get Tough - Webb's staff needs to get tougher. Miller's staff has been put through the ringer and they have stood tall. They do not whine and they do not send bloggers on the web to whine. All the whining has been from Webb's people.
10) I am supporting the winner.

Jon Sheridan:
Actually, I've the totally opposite experience as you have. Also, the Independents are flocking in droves to Webb.
So who is Miller winning? People in his heaquarters? lol

Hi there Alice Marshall. Same wine, different bottle.
I'm heading out to get some votes for Webb. See ya.
Posted by: lenny | June 10, 2006 at 03:47 PM
I attended a Democratic meeting today within the state and it seemed that my local committee was overwhelmingly supportive of Miller. This was much to my suprise.
Posted by: | June 10, 2006 at 03:55 PM
Is it true that the Webb campaign hired the chairman of the Franklin Democratic Committee, Joe Stanley, to design this cartoon? A friend of mine just called me and said he saw blog claiming this online. Is this true?
Posted by: Robert | June 10, 2006 at 03:59 PM
NLS and the Webb Bloggers. Keeping the story alive.
Posted by: | June 10, 2006 at 04:01 PM
Alice, you got to mix it up a little. 1) You're not surprised and 2) Miller used to run the FCDC. So what, Webb crushed you in the straw poll there. Webb's going to get 62% in your Farifax County.

I figured it out. I watched the Debate again. Miller never fucking blinked. It was scary when I finally noticed it. The guy was on Ritalin or something. Is Miller too drugged up to represent Virginia?

I just checked out http://staffordpundit.blogspot.com. Are these cartoons real? They seem similar to the the cartoon that seems to not go away.
Posted by: Robert | June 10, 2006 at 04:07 PM
Cartoon is here: http://www.channelingreality.com/Cards/harris_miller.htm

ok lenny,
Whatever you want to convince yourself of . . . I have many contacts through out the state, and have spent a considerable amount of time going door to door, and this has been my experience.
I believe they call it a bubble, this time it is a blogisphere bubble. 99% of reliable Dem voters do not follow all this crap on blogs. They do not even know who these guys are, but they have seen the TV, and they have gotten the fliers.
You are right about the independents, I have made the same point. It is why there is potential for Webb to be strong in the general (if his campaign could get its act together) But independents do not generally vote in low turnout primaries.
I personally am doing my best to convince people to vote Webb, but I do not feel any need to demonize Miller, or his supporters.

You warped it until it fit?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Disgusting Ben. Absolutely disgusting....
Posted by: Shaun Kenney | June 10, 2006 at 04:24 PM
No Shaun, you just dont have the files sized correctly.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | June 10, 2006 at 04:30 PM
Scaling is fair, warping is not. Webb scales to the Democratic party fine. Trying to warp Miller into a Democrat fails.
Posted by: | June 10, 2006 at 04:35 PM
That's funny.
The originals came off of your website.

You have some serious explaining to do.
Posted by: Shaun Kenney | June 10, 2006 at 04:43 PM
Typepad sizes the file, I don't.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | June 10, 2006 at 04:45 PM
They're JPGs, Ben.
TypePad doesn't alter the JPG format.
That's *your* graphic I used -- why doesn't it match the graphic you just used above???
Posted by: Shaun Kenney | June 10, 2006 at 04:48 PM
Can you explain what doesn't match? This is a file I got directly from the artist.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | June 10, 2006 at 04:50 PM
and typepad does alter the jpgs to size it into the window.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | June 10, 2006 at 04:52 PM
Oh no, the horrors!
The nose has about a millimeter more of a bump. The ears are a little chubbier. And damn you, you anti-semite, there's a little fat bulge above the collar.
It's so good to see a Catholic come so vigorously to the defense of a Jewish man.
Posted by: | June 10, 2006 at 04:52 PM
Shaun: I have done a fair amount of work with the mathematics of linear transformations.
No warping occurs within the group of rigid body transformations. Those include scaling, translation and rotation.
I looked at your efforts, and was surprised to see that you have problems in all three areas.
Just a little free advice.
You should try to be objective when working with your data.

OK.
Your first JPG has a picture of the cartoon and a picture of Miller.
http://notlarrysabato.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/comparison_miller.jpg
What I did was take out the white background and transposed the two. Hence my first graphic.
http://www.shaunkenney.com/images/comparison_miller_v2.jpg
You responded with the graphic above, where the red had been reduced to fit Miller's head:
http://notlarrysabato.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/miller_overlay.jpg
Just to be sure, I took your graphic and my transposed graphic, made them opaque, and transposed both.
http://www.shaunkenney.com/images/ben_changing_stuff.jpg
Then I compared it to the original:
http://www.shaunkenney.com/images/NLSvsSVK%20comparison.jpg
Something changed between your original graphic and the "Shaun is wrong" graphic, Ben.
What gives?
Posted by: Shaun Kenney | June 10, 2006 at 04:56 PM
TypePad does not alter the JPGs, but EVEN IF IT DID, it would have changed the picture of Miller in the same proportion as it changed the cartoon.
Hence, that is not a true statement.
Why was the cartoon warped to fit Miller's head?
