During my internship with Governor Warner, we were given the opportunity to visit Senator Allen in D.C. Before our trip, Senator Allen - who was once UVA's quarterback - was informed that one of us played football for UVA. However, he did not know who it was. As he approached us outside of his office, he went up to Levar, the only male African American in our group, and said "What position do you play?" Levar was not the football player. It was actually Ryan Childress, our old kicker, who played UVA football. Later, before our photo shoot, Senator Allen ran into his office, came back outside, and said "Here, catch!" He chucked the football to Levar. I also find it interesting that he requested that Levar hold the football with him and Senator Allen, which you can clearly see in the picture."
