BVBL has the scoop on the new Sharon Pandak website. What in the heck was her staff thinking? Not only is that an obvious photoshop, but it makes her look worse!
Why would her supporters post something to make her look worse? I'm totally perplexed by this.
It's also worth noting that it will be a while until we can get a reaction from Sharon on this- she is in the middle of a three week vacation in Europe (Election Day is Nov. 7).
I'm changing the race rating now. If this is the kind of effort we are going to get from the Pandak campaign against Supervisor Corey Stewart, this won't be the exciting race we anticipated.
Old Rating: Toss Up
New Rating: Slight-Lean GOP
Ben:
Please, stop criticizing the way female candidates and elected officials look. We know you, we know what you look like, we've seen your photos, we've seen your almost total lack of even the most rudimentary sense of style, so please, stop this, stick to numbers.

SMILE FO' THE CAMRA BAYBEE, I'M GUNNA MAKE YOU A STAR!
Posted by: | September 21, 2006 at 11:19 PM
I am not criticizing the way she looks, because she doesn't actually look like this. I'm being critical of them photoshoping her onto Kitty Carlile's neck.

Ok, maybe the picture is not the best, but please, stop being so superficial, and stop relying on Black Velvet Bruce Lie -- you are a smart guy and don't need to be snarky, even if it is fun.
Posted by: | September 21, 2006 at 11:39 PM
A ban on snarkiness?
I won't support that, anon.
Posted by: Virginia Centrist | September 21, 2006 at 11:40 PM
Ok, it a ban an snarkiness is not reasonable. How about a promise to change the race rating if the bad picture is removed.
Posted by: | September 21, 2006 at 11:41 PM
I agre. Change the race from "Leans GOP" to "Leans Pixilated"
Posted by: Virginia Centrist | September 21, 2006 at 11:46 PM
The problem isn't just the picture anon. The problem is a campaign that would post that. Why would that go up?
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | September 21, 2006 at 11:49 PM
Does anyone know when she'll return and actually start campaigning?
Posted by: | September 22, 2006 at 12:01 AM
Once we dispose of George Allen and install Tom Davis as our nominee for Senate, I feel like we'll have a better chance at easily retaining the PWC Chair.
Yet another reason why Tom Davis for Senate makes sense. Reasons #1 and #2:
1. George Allen hates Jews.
2. George Allen saw a sign that said "High voltage, do not touch fence" on a fence, and he went over to the fence and licked it
Posted by: Tom Davis for Senate | September 22, 2006 at 12:04 AM
LOL who is this Tom Davis for Senate guy?
Posted by: | September 22, 2006 at 12:05 AM
Gimme a break. A downgrade for that?!?
That website looks just like Hilda Barg's website and we all know what happened to Hilda!
Uh, wait a minute.....
Posted by: Not Harry F. Byrd, Sr. | September 22, 2006 at 01:09 AM
I think the photo/graphic was a ploy to solicit campaign contributions without having to actually work for them. Perhaps they though people would feel sorry for a campaign so fundamentally flawed it would do a joke photoshop of their own candidate.
I dunno, may it'll work....
Posted by: Greg L | September 22, 2006 at 01:42 AM
Your race rating is unbelievable, Ben. At least Gary Friedman would have mouthed the Conservative words that PWC voters want to hear, even if only fools would have believed him. Pandak is a joke, and is going down in flames. It would be amazing if she broke 40%.
Posted by: James Young | September 22, 2006 at 09:17 AM
I hope someone reminded Pandak to fill out an absentee ballot so she can vote for herself from France.

George Allen will soon be out of the Senate race, and it will be Tom Davis' turn.
Just today there was an article about Tom Davis possibly announcing his candidacy:

The mo is building! If we don't replace George Allen with Tom Davis, WE WILL LOSE THE US SENATE AND NANCY PELOSI WILL BE IN CHARGE
Posted by: Tom Davis for Senate | September 22, 2006 at 09:54 AM
Tom Davis for Senate ...
Hopefully you're joking-not only will Davis never replace Allen this year ... the US Senate races have NO bearing whatsoever on Nancy Pelosi being Speaker of the HOUSE.
Posted by: | September 22, 2006 at 11:06 AM
Let's face it people... the way a candidate looks, and how they present themselves, affects how people perceive them. Most voters do not think about the issues as much as we do.
Posted by: Bacchus | September 22, 2006 at 11:38 AM
No, Nancy Pelosi is in the Senate.
Posted by: Tom Davis for Senate | September 22, 2006 at 11:41 AM
This particular image was put on the campaign's site by a volunteer who offered to help out. They've asked him to replace it with something else.
Posted by: | September 22, 2006 at 12:43 PM
NLS, isn't it a big leap to say that the Pandak campaign is doing a poor job based on 1 bad website picture?
Posted by: George Templeton | September 22, 2006 at 01:56 PM
Honestly, that picture doesn't look photoshopped when compared to the one beside it on the website. I think she just has an inordinately long neck.
Posted by: | September 22, 2006 at 02:05 PM
TDfS,
Pelosi is House Minority Leader. Harry Reid is the Senate Minority Leader.

Tom Davis for Senate? He just got his butt kicked for Congress by a political newcomer!
"[H]e’s now embroiled in an increasingly ferocious congressional race" says the ultra-Conservative Examiner!

"In a raucous debate between Davis and Hurst Tuesday night in Fairfax County, over 200 Hurst backers filled the auditorium at the Fairfax County Government Center to offer their loud support for their candidates, agitating Davis in ways he never might have imagined months ago. Hurst pounded away at the fact that Davis, despite cutting a more moderate profile than many of his GOP colleagues nationally, still voted 90% of the time with the Bush administration," says the Falls Church News Press.

Democrat Andrew Hurst wasted no time in going into attack mode against incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Thomas Davis in the latest debate in the 11th Congressional District race Tuesday night.
"Starting with his opening statement, Hurst repeatedly linked Davis to the lobbyist scandals that have plagued Republicans in recent years, accusing Davis of being in the pocket of special-interest groups and trying to portray him as closely aligned with President George W. Bush," says the Fairfax County Times.

Boy, and we Republicans always thought Davis was a left-wing nut. Damn.
Posted by: Poli-Carp | September 22, 2006 at 07:09 PM
Hurst...gimme a break. I think the funniest post I've seen yet was from Ambivalent mumblings. "Keep the Hurst momentum going, he now has over 240 dollars (from 4 contributions) towards his 4000 dollar goal. This is as pathetic as some of the posts I've seen from our friend in Maryland, Andrea "I can't keep a job" Chamblee.
Posted by: surf | September 22, 2006 at 09:50 PM
OK NSL, the bad picture is gone. Now change the rating.
Posted by: | September 22, 2006 at 10:03 PM
Hmmm, nothing good to say about Tom Davis, nothing bad to say about Andy Hurst. Too ashamed of yourself to use your real name. I suppose you're hear 'cause your friends told you to stop talking to them and STFU, you sound like an idiot. Stay anonymous, "Surf" and you won't have to be associated with your the opinions you spout so confidently when no one is looking.
Posted by: Tom Davis for dogcatcher | September 22, 2006 at 10:51 PM
I disagree with those attacking NLS over this. He makes fun of ANY funny politician picture, whether it's female or male.
And that picture was certainly odd, and I'm glad they got it off the web site.
Sharon isn't going to lose because someone puts an awkward picture on the web site.
She's going to lose because of what she did to the residents of the county while she was the PWC attorney.

Give me your phone number TDfD so I can call you on Nov.8 and tell you what an idiot you are and personally introduce myself.

You must have left Mom and me because desperately wanted to live in a state with a Democratic governor.
