Posted by: West AIlsworth | November 07, 2006 at 11:39 PM
Agreed. Look at absentees outstanding.
Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:40 PM
MSNBC still has Allen ahead.
Posted by: Marine Mom | November 07, 2006 at 11:41 PM
50,000+ absentees outstanding from arlington county...
Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:41 PM
Absentees usually trend Republican.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:41 PM
Most of the Republican counties have report absentee's.
FFX/Arlington/PWC/Loudoun have not reported their absentees
Posted by: not gretchen bulova | November 07, 2006 at 11:42 PM
Ben:
You hit it. Webb wins by 2K, when Arl & Ffx absentees are counted.
Hallelujah!
Posted by: Ghost of Henry Howell | November 07, 2006 at 11:42 PM
Webb won. There will be a recount.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | November 07, 2006 at 11:42 PM
Where are your numbers coming from Ben?
Posted by: RichmondDem | November 07, 2006 at 11:42 PM
Yeah, absentees could do it. We'll have a recount either way, though.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:42 PM
they dont trend that republican in a democratic strong hould especially given the fact that as i undersstand lowell or soeone said that the dems had did a great job this year of getting absentees in dem strong holds- i still dont believe it though.
Posted by: akaison | November 07, 2006 at 11:42 PM
Who projected this win?
Posted by: Marine Mom | November 07, 2006 at 11:43 PM
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Posted by: NotLarrySabato'sLawnboy | November 07, 2006 at 11:43 PM
this will help you understand why webb wins:
look at absentees:

Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:45 PM
CNN said the absentees have been counted!
Posted by: vikram | November 07, 2006 at 11:45 PM
Dems might still need a lawyer at every county courthouse in the state tomorrow morning. This is going to recount/court.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:45 PM
I think Ben might be right - absentees are the key.
Posted by: Rob at Raising Kaine | November 07, 2006 at 11:46 PM
look at absentee history for outstanding counties in the links i posted above... MOST GOP-leaning counties have COUNTED absentees already
Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:46 PM
Hope to God you're right.
Posted by: MasonLee | November 07, 2006 at 11:46 PM
forget CNN. I can't believe someone on a blog is citing MSM, especially CNN
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:46 PM
What about Prince William???
Posted by: notroberthurt | November 07, 2006 at 11:46 PM
CNN doesnt know crap.
Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:47 PM
11:47 - Webb down by 3,000 votes.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:47 PM
As a Fairfax County Democrat in college, I was mailed, by the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, an absentee ballot application without requesting one a bit over a week before I left for college this year. I've heard of others who did the same. I think the Dems had a GREAT absentee apparatus in Fairfax County this year.
Posted by: Sam | November 07, 2006 at 11:48 PM
I'm with you ben. I've got him up in the end (extrapolating using 2005 absentee ballot numbers) by about 5000 votes.
Posted by: Virginia Centrist | November 07, 2006 at 11:49 PM
according to lowell or someone else who diaried this issue on either raising kaine or d kos- a week or so ago- the things about absentee ballots for dems is true. i still will believe it when i see it.
Posted by: akaison | November 07, 2006 at 11:49 PM
11:49 Absentees in Fairfax still not counted.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:49 PM
I think Ben just wanted to use the graphic :P
Thanks for knocking him out of the presidential race
Hopefully the RPV will finally see the writing on the wall and adjust with their favorite son hanging on by a thread
Posted by: novamiddleman | November 07, 2006 at 11:49 PM

Posted by: Matt | November 07, 2006 at 11:55 PM
Allen should do the honorable thing and concede.
Posted by: briefman | November 07, 2006 at 11:55 PM
99% COUNTED
Webb - 50%
Allen - 49%
CNN AND MSNBC
REMANINING PRECINCTS ARE IN ARLINGTON, RICHMOND VOTE PUT WEBB OVER THE TOP!
Posted by: Musa | November 07, 2006 at 11:56 PM
CNN has Webb up 2376 with 99%,
absentees must be coming in.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:56 PM
the myth about absentees not being counted until the following day is not true. From what I gather, the absentee ballots are counted on election day. I hope i am wrong.
Posted by: Jim | November 07, 2006 at 11:56 PM
shit... allen now back up
Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:56 PM

Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:57 PM
CNN count has webb up!
Posted by: vikram | November 07, 2006 at 11:57 PM
Will somebody who knows something please look at Pr Wm before I piss my pants? I see the likely lead for Webb in Arlington, Fairfax & Loudoun, but it could turn to shit in a heartbeat in Pr Wm.
Posted by: Mr. Ugly | November 07, 2006 at 11:57 PM
awesome job ben you called the number 20 mins before CNN!
Posted by: Ben | November 07, 2006 at 11:57 PM
Jim Webb (DEM) 1,141,052 49%
George Allen (REP)* 1,138,676 49%
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14188268/
They're ahead of SBE!
Posted by: Musa | November 07, 2006 at 11:57 PM
How can CNN have him up if the SBE numbers havent been updated. Gee, maybe it's wishful thinking on their part.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:58 PM
sbe has Allen still up
http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/index.htm
Posted by: Mason Conservative | November 07, 2006 at 11:58 PM
still outstandign ballots from dem counties... webb will win
Posted by: lokiloki | November 07, 2006 at 11:58 PM
Musa - SBE shows another 1000 for Allen than that, but 4000 less for Webb. Probably somewhere inbetween
Posted by: Jason | November 07, 2006 at 11:59 PM
Please stop looking at CNN and MSNBC - and comparing to SBE. Look at one but not all three. In the end they will agree. They get the same data from the same places but in different sequences. That explains the variances.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:59 PM
FFX 3 precincts missing at SBE.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:59 PM
Fox has Webb up by 3K+.
Posted by: | November 07, 2006 at 11:59 PM
My local news is at the Webb party and they said he is now ahead. You could hear all of the screams .They also said that Allen isn't talking to anyone.
Posted by: Marine Mom | November 07, 2006 at 11:59 PM
Mr. Ugly - Webb won Prince William but 2500 votes. Absentees yet to be counted
Posted by: not gretchen bulova | November 07, 2006 at 11:59 PM
glad I bought beer before midnight
Posted by: West AIlsworth | November 08, 2006 at 12:00 AM
something is weird... cnn has web/allen at 141/138 and sbe has web/allen at 137/139... what is up with that?!?!
Posted by: lokiloki | November 08, 2006 at 12:00 AM
MSNBC, Fox and CNN are all using AP numbers, they'll have the same figures.
Posted by: Jason | November 08, 2006 at 12:00 AM
CNN must have the AP reporter at FFX board of elections. right?
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:01 AM
lokiloki - they're counting from different areas, AP reporters at precincts are getting some results before SBE and vice versa.
Posted by: Jason | November 08, 2006 at 12:01 AM
I said about two hours ago that Allen was running out of GOP counties and his lead was not enough.
Posted by: Jim | November 08, 2006 at 12:01 AM
Lawyers at every BOE in the morning. Defend this Webb victory !!!!
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:02 AM
C'mon people -- you are comparing apples to oranges because of timing. AP collects data and reports it -- same data SBE gets but maybe faster (and perhaps less reliable). So please quit trashing the thread by comparing one to another
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:02 AM
Going to bed. Webb wins...and when the absentee totals come in it may push the margin outside of automatic recount territory.
Posted by: Bwana | November 08, 2006 at 12:02 AM
SBE is probably the more accurate.
Posted by: Jason | November 08, 2006 at 12:03 AM
WTOP news quoted the SBE numbers.
Posted by: Jason | November 08, 2006 at 12:04 AM
agreed...I'm not sure how anyone could have better info that the SBE website
***hoping I'm wrong***
Posted by: West AIlsworth | November 08, 2006 at 12:05 AM
this is what i dont get....in COMPARING SBE and MSNBC...MSNBC is indicating that Allen lost votes based on what SBE has...SBE has him at 1.39, MSNBC at 1.38....
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:06 AM
All precincts left are Dem precincts
Posted by: vikram | November 08, 2006 at 12:07 AM
now 1.41. to 1.39....
yet MSNBC and CNN still saying 1.38?? how is this possible?
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:07 AM
1500 votes. unbelievable.
Posted by: kai | November 08, 2006 at 12:07 AM
What in the hell accounts for the difference between the SBE and the AP? They are both at 99% and they have opposite results.
Posted by: RichmondDem | November 08, 2006 at 12:07 AM
1.41 being Allen....
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:08 AM
My head is going to explode.
C'mon people -- you are comparing apples to oranges because of timing. AP collects data and reports it -- same data SBE gets but maybe faster (and perhaps less reliable). So please quit trashing the thread by comparing one to another
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:02 AM
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:08 AM
SBE reports them as the precincts tell them. AP reports them as the precincts tell them. AP's had some results before SBE and vice versa. It'll all balance out, just watch the SBE site.
Posted by: Jason | November 08, 2006 at 12:08 AM
I'm looking at the SBE nos. and it looks like a lot of Prince William has not been reported. We saw a major turnout at my precinct (McCoart) today. We averaged about 170 per hour. There were countless people who said, "I'll take one of those Democratic ballots. I'm going to fire some people."
Posted by: pol | November 08, 2006 at 12:09 AM
sbe has allen up, with more than the webb lead on cnn, with 99.18% reporting
http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/index.htm
Posted by: Veritas | November 08, 2006 at 12:09 AM
Jason, i agree...but SBE has Allen @ 1.41....not 1.38
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 12:09 AM
It ain't over til' it's over, ya'll.
haha
Posted by: College Student in the 757 | November 08, 2006 at 12:10 AM
I wonder if the greens will figure out that they are nothing more than Republican enablers.
Nah. Never happen.
Posted by: ifthethunderdontgetya | November 08, 2006 at 12:10 AM
so have the absentee votes been counted or not?
Posted by: Mason Conservative | November 08, 2006 at 12:10 AM
This doesn't make sense. I would think SBE would be "more" accurate.
Posted by: Jim | November 08, 2006 at 12:11 AM
