So observing the Sabbath by taking a day of rest is now somehow blasphemous?

Dannyboy

12:40-
Ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha!

Look, this was just a literary allusion. Not the most tasteful one, perhaps. But still just that; an allusion.

Kevin

I thought Alec Baldwin was God...

Dannyboy

Arec Baldrin? Oh no!

George Templeton

He's so ronery!

Stosch is God!

That's a personal comparison to God? Weak.

Maybe, just maybe, if he'd written "He rested" (capitalizing "He") then that might be comparing himself to God. Otherwise, it just looks like he's obeying God's commandment by resting on the Sabbath.

Yawn.

Connecticut Yankee

I read that as him saying he rested on the 7th day as directed by God...

Ben is jewish so I think he got confused by the whole thing.

10th District Conservative

Jews kind of have an affinity for Genesis. Part of the Pentateuch and all that...
The question is, how good of a Jew is Ben?

Whoever submitted that comment must be pretty scared of Walter Stosch because not only did they make a mountain out of a molehill but they edited out the part about Jack Reid praising him at that Saturday breakfast. That's pretty desperate.

They also left out the part about Paul Galanti endorsing Walter Stosch in the primary.

Here's the whole update.

"Now that the General Assembly Regular Session has finished (and on time, at that), Senator Stosch has the ability to be back in the district meeting voters and constituents. And he is making the most of it!

"Door-to-door canvassing is a staple in any local political campaign, and Senator Stosch is walking with volunteers in neighborhoods throughout the district. The early arrival of daylight saving time added an hour to the time available for canvassing, much to the campaign’s delight. Walter has been gratified by the positive response he has gotten from the voters he has encountered on their doorsteps.

"The Senator has also been the guest at many group events, which give him an opportunity to speak in more detail about his record and the accomplishments of the recent session. The gavel had hardly fallen before Walter was out giving a report to the West End Rotary Club, on the first business day after adjournment. That evening, Walter Craigie and Don McVay graciously hosted a legislative forum at Westminster Canterbury open to all the residents there.

"The following day, Walter attended the Goochland Republican Committee’s monthly luncheon. Hanover Delegate Frank Hargrove, the guest speaker, and Walter had led the Joint Republican Caucus together, working diligently over a number of years to produce Republican majorities in the Senate and House of Delegates.

"The next two evenings were also spent in Goochland. Bryce and Franny Powell, Bill and Anne Axselle, Gordon and Vera Prior, Charlie and Beth Guthridge, Paul and Zelda Silver, and Ralph and Joan Crosby hosted a reception on Wednesday. On Thursday, Walter attended a meet-and-greet at the Bank of Goochland organized by Rudy and Grace Butler, Mrs. Royal Cabell, Jr., Jonathon and Sherryll Lyle, Robin and Cricket Williams, and Buford and Anne Wood.

"That Friday found Walter bright and early at Eric Cantor’s annual breakfast with Congressman John Boehner as the guest speaker. Saturday it was the Henrico GOP breakfast with Delegate Jack Reid as speaker. Jack was very gracious in his remarks about the efforts Walter had undertaken in negotiating an agreement between the House and Senate Republican caucuses that produced the transportation plan that passed both bodies.

"And on the Seventh Day he rested.

"The ensuing weeks afforded many additional speaking opportunities. The AARP, the Area Agencies on Aging, MCV/VCU Department on Aging, and Senior Connection co-sponsored a Seniors Forum at Imperial Plaza. The Senator returned to Imperial Plaza to present a legislative overview to retired state workers. The James River Republican Women’s Club hosted another legislative report at their March meeting. Walter was on-hand at Lakewood Manor as campaign volunteer Bill Dawson received recognition as the national winner of the Buck Levins Political Activist Award from the Credit Union National Association.

"American Legion Posts 84 and 215, the Military Officers of America Association, and the Virginia Department of Veterans Affairs co-hosted a Veterans Forum at the Virginia American Legion Hall. Walter’s legislative report included the good news that their number one priority, assistance for the Educational Wing of the Virginia War Memorial, was achieved through legislation he sponsored.

"In the course of the Veterans Forum, one of the participants, Commander Paul Galanti, USN (Ret.), took the occasion to declare his endorsement of Walter for re-election stating, “While Walter is a veteran himself, that is by far not the only reason I support his reelection. There is no stronger fighter for veterans in the General Assembly and he’s not done fighting yet.”

"Of course, no campaign relies exclusively on the candidate alone. They all need a team of dedicated volunteers as well as a full time, professional staff. The Stosch campaign enjoys both. Quite literally, hundreds of persons have come forward to volunteer their time in a variety of ways. And an enthusiastic staff directs and assists them.

"Sarah Huggins coordinates the group meetings such as those mentioned above. If you have an event you would like to organize for Walter contact her at 864-3620 or by email at smh-at-walterstosch-dot-com. Sarah also directs volunteer activities in the headquarters, so contact her if you would like to join our phone bank or mailing operations.

"Richie Parsons coordinates the precinct organization including door-to-door canvassing, lit drops, in-home phoning, yard signs and Election Day activities. He can be reached at 864-3619 or by email at rep-at-walterstosch-dot-com if you’d like to join Walter walking door-to-door, help install yard signs, or just have a sign installed in your own yard.

"A number of volunteers have been circulating the petitions necessary to put Walter on the June 12 ballot. Rest assured there are more than the minimum 250 required already in hand. Walter held a “petition party” at headquarters last week for many petition circulators. No piece of mail or paid ad can match the effectiveness of a personal contact from neighbor-to-neighbor or friend-to-friend.

"So far the race has been somewhat “under the radar.” Look for that to change very soon. Much to Walter’s delight, two debates have been scheduled and more are expected. The first will occur at 7:30 on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, before the Henrico Business Council, the affiliate of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The James River Republican Women’s Club and Henrico County Republican Committee are sponsoring another on at 7:00 on the evening of April 26 at Pocahontas Middle School.

"Walter is eager for these debates. They will afford him an opportunity to lay out for the audiences his enviable record of achievement, a chance to correct the misinformation some have put out, and an occasion to set forth his positive agenda for the future. The general public is welcome at the JRRWC debate and you won’t want to miss it!

"Yesterday’s Richmond Times –Dispatch featured an op ed detailing Walter’s innovative Community College Transfer Grant bill, which is on the governor’s desk. Henrico resident and economist Fletcher Mangum is the author. Read it here. Today the Byrd Newspapers flagship publication, The Winchester Star editorialized in favor of it. Just two more testimonies to Walter’s invaluable service to the 12th Senatorial District and all of Virginia."

Too long...

stupy

At 6;55 pm, was I supposed to read all of that?

Clairese Lippincott

See! Senators are all a bunch of pompous asses. Stosch, Stolle, and Mrs. Congressman minus sign Davis, are all good reasons to eliminate Senators and go to a unicameral House.
