Maybe Steve Shannon ought to spend a little less time with Tom and Jeanmarie, and a little more with Chap and other Democrats. . .

Poison has poisoned the well.

Since when did the transportation plan become nothing but the abuser fees? The abuser fees were a small part of it - a part that I'm sure none of these Democrats liked. But see Ben, in the real world you don't always get to vote for the parts you like and against the parts you don't. You have to vote on the whole bill. Also, where in the Chamber's endorsement does it say that these three had ANYTHING to do with drafting or including in the final bill the abuser fee portion of it? This was Albo's baby from day one.

It's my understanding that the Chamber bases their endorsements on a whole slew of bills. I guess you just made that last claim ["it seems to be based on something the the three (Shannon, Poisson, Marsden) did behind the scenes to put the "abuser fees" into law"] up.

Do you have any evidence whatsoever to back that up? A citation from the Chamber's website, printed materials or blog? No? Shocking for you, simply shocking (sarcasm very much intended).

So I guess I should get an out-of-state drivers license so I won't have to ever pay these fees. Good thing I have property in another state, and something tells me there could be a run on PO Boxes in Maryland and West Virginia.

So you all really want to defend drivers who go 20 miles per hour over the speed limit? That would be 55 on most residential streets, 75 on the Beltway... And repeat drunk drivers?? Please.

Donkeybreath - PLEEEEASE! Now we are pretending that opponents to this outrageous legislation are somehow opposed to reasonable penalties for traffic offenses?

That is not what this law is about. This law is all about deviding people into "bad" people and "good" people and imposing a tax in stealth.

And the Anonymous "real world" expert lecturing the little people on how things have to be. If you grow a little backbone, you might want to come out of your "real world" closet and tell us who you are.

Go ahead and blame Albo. But the "realists" are Albo enablers that not only went along with this turkey but helped keep it out of public view. You ask for evidence? If there is anything the "real worlders" do, it is to ensure their fingerprints are never found on the knife that gets stuck in the back of Virginians.

I have never understood the appeal of Poison.

Oh how I yearn for a Poison rematch with the Most Hon. Richard Black, Esquire.

You are right about Virginia licensed drivers being hit hard. There is something very amusing about this especially for Republican legislators.

Have your readers considered the fact that under HB 3202, the so-called "Transportation" bill, that after July 1 persons with a valid Virginia license should receive higher fines for traffic infractions than illegal aliens who say have driver's licenses from a Central or South American country, or from East Europe, or East Asia or anywhere else?

Because that is precisely what HB 3202 does. It says, Illegal Alien, you get a smaller fine than a Virginia resident with a valid driver's license.
Why the Virginia General Assembly, especially REpublicans who say they want to crack down on Illegal Aliens, and the Governor wanted to treat Virginia drivers harsher than Illegal Aliens is a question I cannot answer.

Delegate Bob Marshall

PS Because of this and other problems I voted NO on HB 3202.

Delegate Bob Marshal, that’s it? The problem you have with the bill is that it didn't also bilk illegal aliens along with Virginians?

New York gun runners don't bother you - just some smug Latino that cleaned one to many hotel rooms and hasn't figured out a way to phony up enough documents to get a license?

How did we ever get so off base? Instead of using our intellect and energy to make Virginia a better place for Virginians we redirect our focus on finding enemies like some third world despot?

Good grief! We have come a long way since Jefferson and Madison.

75 on the highway? You act as if that is the worst thing ever...last time I checked the flow of traffic is right in that ballpark

75 on the highway? You act as if that is the worst thing ever...last time I checked the flow of traffic is right in that ballpark

Greg,
You miss my point. HB 3202 treats Illegal ALiens better than Virginia Citizen residents for an identical traffic infraction! DOesn't that strike you as odd especially for REpublican legislators who want to be tough on illegals? This is funny in a perverse way. This is just one example of a bill that was not thoroughy vetted for unintended consequences, different outcomes for doing exactly the same traffic violation.
If you want to get serious read the VA Constitution and find out that only local Supervisors or a City council can raise local taxes, not appointed members of a regional government established without a referendum as required by the VA Constitution.

The Most Honorable Delegate Bob Marshall is a GREAT man because of the work that he has done on behalf of the unborn.

We love you Del Marshall! Please keep up the excellent work!

I certaily will not be crying for those caught with the "abuser" fees. These folks will think twice when getting in the car after they are fined.

I certainly would love to here Marshall's plan for fixing transportation other than whining about the constitutionality of HB 3202.( If this gets thrown out in court, than I will certainly admit I was wrong but its just not going to happen)
I did not see his small goup of dissenters put forth a proposal to fix the problem. These handful of folks who voted against the plan in the GA just have nothing to take back to their voters so they are sort of stuck. They can proud of the fact they voted against keeping NOVA tax dollars in NOVA.

I find it funny that t has now resorted to using two screen names, grapes and t. He needed a "friend" to help him prop up the deflated Dick Black. It amuses me that no one else comes to the aide of the neutered Dick Black.

Bob Marshall is a useless Delegate. I ought to know, becuasse he "represents" me. Actually, all he represents are extreme and out of touch ideologs who share all his views on a bunch of marginal social issues. He does nothing for public education, transportation, or controlling development. His so-called intelligence is that of an autistic savant, hyper-focused on irrelevant details in an effort to distract people from the fact that he does nothing. That, and he charges us, the taxpayers, for his home office. Come on Bob, how much is your monthly mortgage and how much does the tax payer cough up from your home office that is, as a general matter, not open to the general public.
