One Year Macacaversery- Video Released 3:18 p.m.
(The only part posted at 3:18 is before the update)
Lowell Feld is working on a book that includes the story of what was going on behind the scenes that day, so I won't preempt that. My favorite part of the day was after I posted the video my phone went nuts for a few hours. After a couple hours of talking to various reporters and activists I went to get a glass of water at almost exactly 5 p.m. When I walked past the TV Wolf Blitzer was coming on the "Situation Room" with Not Larry Sabato's toupees flipping up and down behind him. It hadn't occurred to me until then that my 24 hours of hype about this mystery video that would take down George Allen was being watched all over the country and contributed to how quickly the story moved.

I have read a few comments here criticizing you for your self-congratulations concerning the 'macaca' incident.
I say poo on them. Keep it up! The video documentation of Allen's downfall deserves praise and should stand as a warning to all those who seek public office. People are watching you and you best be careful what you say and do.

I, too, am enjoying these posts--that was probably the political high point of last year for me :)
Can't wait to watch Allen run for something else. It will be fun to watch.

You were a pawn. Whoopee.

Standard right-wing whining. I still remember listening to the high praise for the $40M of taxpayer money we spent to discover a stain a on a dress.
But now that Foley, Ney, Cunningham, Abramoff, Vitter, Allen, Schrock, Haggard and other outspoken moral hypocrites are exposed, the neocons are, as usual, the main source of global whining.

"my 24 hours of hype about this mystery video that would take down George Allen"
Wow.
Just, wow.
You've convinced yourself that you took down George Allen.
Wow.

I think Ben did help take Senator Allen down. Who knows if the story gets the same momentum if it is on B-1 of the Washington Post one morning with no hype.

I think it's hysterical how all of these anon Ben haters really have NO IDEA what went on that day. I was one of the people who did call and harass Ben, and believe me, you people have no clue what you are talking about.
But hey; it's funny to watch you continue to pretend Macaca-gate is no big deal.

Who said macaca-gate was no big deal? It was definitely a big deal. The hilarious thing is NLS thinking HE'S such a big deal and had some critical role in macaca-gate.

And people say only Republicans live in the past...

Does anyone else have the mental image of Ben singing to himself "Mommy WOW! I'm a big kid now" (as in the old training pull-up diaper commercials) every time he posts one of these stories?
If you need some help, here's the image

What a wise sage our favorite attorney from PWC is:
Ben, you're surrendering your sensible credentials if you really think this is a story.

I love the old comments - "this is nothing, it'll blow over, way to tell a non-story Ben".
Hahahahahahaahahahaha! It's almost as good as the Republicans who declared the next day, "Oh, it's just a recount just to make Webb realize he lost twice, LOL! Go Allen! We know we have the votes, y'all!"
Again, I will laugh at Allen's loss forever. It's just too good.

Why don't you just admit that your little man Webb has zero chance of winning, and you're clinging to this one last shred of hope in Allen's "off-hand remark" (as CNN calls it)?
This story has a media half-life of about 24 hours, but it will no doubt live on in the sad little minds of lefty bloggers like yourself. Of course, you all represent about .0001% of the electorate. So enjoy your little circle jerk.

This caca story is already dying, and already starting to smell stale. But it sure was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?

...reminds me of the famous King George III quote: "July 4, 1776, nothing much happened today".

This macaca flap is a story. If you can't recognize the difference, it most likely means that you're simply desperate for this to become a big story. And that's understandable. Your candidate has zero chance of winning, and this gives you a glimmer of hope.
I realize that this is a HUGE story for the Webb campaign and for the relatively few people who are die-hard Webb activists, such as yourself. For the vast majority of people, however, this amounts to a, "Oh, really? Hmmmm" -- and not much else.
