I know this is a serious issue, but c'mon. The DPVA and Jeanette Rishell both did press releases in the last day condemning the Ku Klux Klan after the incident in Manassas LAST WEEKEND. See them here and here.
This is silly for three reasons. One, the incident happened last weekend, the Post has already reported on it. Two, it isn't exactly breaking news that the DPVA and Rishell both oppose the KKK. Three, and this is the most embarrassing- it took you guys almost 100 hours longer than BVBL to condemn the Klan. Pathetic.
My Mom always said, "Better late than never..."
I would say it applies in this case, and it's hardly something anyone should be getting all crazy over...

Besides, BVBL certainly was likely to have information on the event way ahead of time, being an insider in the circle and all....no wonder he published first---he had all the inside info.

Doug in MV, I hope you did not infer about Greg what I think you inferred. If so, that's pretty low - even for an extremist like you. Tell me if I got it wrong.

Actually, NJH, DiMV didn't "infer" anything. You "inferred" from what he implied, though actually, he doesn't much "imply" anything at all; he almost blatantly says it.
It's a measure of the lack of merit in the arguments of those who make excuses for illegal immigrants that they are forced to race-bait.
Posted by: James Young | September 06, 2007 at 02:54 PM
Right, and I don't know which of you is more annoying. :)

I'm going to infer that James is. Doug is not saying what he says just because of Leitiqiqiue's stand on immigrants (and let's face facts, it's not just illegals he takes issue with). Doug's implication is most likely from something that hits closer to home.

Not throwing stones at the Rishell Campaign or DPVA, but that ship has sailed. Here's the Chronology:
Mexicans Without Borders has a Rally and March in 2005. Klan distributes lit in Woodbridge on the same day.
Mexicans Without Borders has March and Rally on September 2, 2007, Klan distributes lit in Manassas on the same day.
Help Save Manassas and Marc Aveni Manassas City Council condemn the Klan action on September 3, quoted in the Manassas Journal Messenger and Potomac News on September 4, 2007. Linkage made to Mexicanos Sin Fronteras rally and Klan action by Manassas Journal Messenger.
WMAL runs sound bites starting on the morning of September 4th. They run comments from an HSM representative, and about mid-day, they start running comments from the Klan. The Klan says this has nothing to do with the Mexicanos Sin Fronteras march (suspect), HSM is "overreacting" in their condemnation:
630 WMAL has confirmed that members of the Ku Klux Klan visited Manassas over the weekend, distributing leaflets and inviting residents to join the Arkansas-based separatist organization. Travis Pierce, National Membership Director of Ku Klux Klan, LLC, tells 630 WMAL that the group came to Manassas after receiving several requests for information about the Klan by residents. Pierce says the recruiting effort has nothing to do with the recent local efforts to crack down against illegal immigration. "The headline on the flyer was 'illegal drugs and pornography'", says Pierce. "These issues were what was addressed in the flyer, and nothing else". Local activists leading the charge against illegal immigration were eager to distance themselves from the arrival of the Klan. Steve Thomas with "Help Save Manassas", tells 630 WMAL " We universally condemn the KKK, and groups like the KKK. Their message is based on hate around racial lines, and we reject that 100 percent."
Local broadcast media outlets pick up that there might be a connection, interview HSM on the evening of September 4th, which condemns the Klan action.
Same outlets play interviews from previous evening, in the morning news broadcasts on Sept. 5th. Nancy Lyall of Mexicanos Sin Fronteras tries to link Klan to PWC BCOS resolution and to HSM. Broadcast Media outlets move on to other news, WMAL stops running story.
September 6th MJM Pot. News runs article containing statements from Ricardo Jaurez, possible illegal alien and confirmed Zapatista revolutionary head of Mexicanos Sin Fronteras attempting to link HSM and PWC BCOS to Klan action. Rishell holds press conference to condemn Klan actions.
What does this chronology show? It shows how pathetic the illegal alien advocates are. HSM, and the BCOS were the first to condemn the Klan, actually got the Klan to admit that their actions had nothing to due with what is going on in PWC, and dominated the news cycle for a full 24 hours. Mexicanos Sin Fronteras and Jennette Rishelle finally get a clue that there is a story here, and react, about 48 hours too late.
I agree with NLS. Rishell is pathetic in their timing, although correct in their condemnation. I will also add that Mexicanos Sin Fronteras and their leadership are pathetic also.

I don't believe I've seen a response from Jackson Miller. Has anyone else?
Posted by: LM | September 06, 2007 at 04:06 PM
Rishell is such a wreck of a candidate.
Posted by: Loudoun Insider | September 06, 2007 at 04:10 PM
Rishell is courageous and offers constructive solutions to the problem and glad she and DV. The fact that Jackson Miller has not said squat speaks for itself. No leadership there at all.
BVBL condemnation was just doing CYA since some of their activities, as well as Jackson's, and Help Save Manassas, or divide it as you will, have spurred the kind of divisive hatred that draws the KKK in the first place and will make Manassas a more unsafe place to live. Go Jeannette.

This is why politics is the battleground of warriors. This commentor has no idea as to what a failure the DPVA, Rishell, MSF and the WWC are on this issue, in this news cycle. He/She is commenting on Miller's silence? I am sure if you asked Delegate Miller what he was doing during this period, or even better yet, call the PWC Police. They would tell you that he was on-duty, patroling the streets, and keeping us safe from the likes of illegal aliens AND the KKK.
Wakeup is pathetic too.

"Leitiqiqiue's stand on immigrants (and let's face facts, it's not just illegals he takes issue with)."
Prove what you said, Douche Bag.
You can't. I challege you to find one comment or quote to support this, But you won't.

I can't pronounce his name, so I think I'll just call him Lettuce-Q. Lettuce-Q really is a hack, when is he going to attack the companies who fully hired these undocumented immigrants and skirted federal laws. If he doesn't, then I reiterate, he's a Grade A Hack.

Have you guys ever heard of the expression "tongue-in-cheek" (aka joke, sarcasm, etc.)?
Give me a break!
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | September 06, 2007 at 06:16 PM
NJH, James is DEFinitely more annoying.
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | September 06, 2007 at 06:18 PM
Did you guys (NJH & James) not partake in the sarcasm of Ben's headline? I would have thought given the spirit of the post, you might have caught on...
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | September 06, 2007 at 06:20 PM
NJH, how exactly am I an extremist? Because I won't tolerate laws that discriminate against GLBT people? What else you got?
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | September 06, 2007 at 06:28 PM
Doug apparently has more trouble spelling Greg's last name than I do. And I may be annoying NJH, but I try to bring enlightenment even to a tongue-in-cheek post such as this.
As for DiMV, sarcasm frequently translates poorly in the blogosphere. I think your latest attempt at humor ("I won't tolerate laws that discriminate against GLBT people") is far more successful, for example.
I guess the Klan "won't tolerate laws that discriminate against [racist] people." For that matter, perhaps the world would be a better place if more people "wo[uld]n't tolerate laws that discriminate against [pedophile] people." Or if more people "wo[uld]n't tolerate laws that discriminate against [murderous] people." Or if more people "wo[uld]n't tolerate laws that discriminate against [speeding] people." Or if more people "wo[uld]n't tolerate laws that discriminate against [recklessly driving] people." Or if more people "wo[uld]n't tolerate laws that discriminate against [terrorist] people."
Posted by: James Young | September 06, 2007 at 07:45 PM
LM,
Jackson Miller did have a response in the Gainesville Times yesterday calling the KKK a fringe terrorist group. His statements already beat Rishell to the punch.
Posted by: | September 06, 2007 at 09:56 PM
James, so you are equating GLBT people with:
racists
pedophiles
murderers
speeders
wreckless drivers
terrorists
All while apparently arguing that the Klan are victims of racists.
Well done. And you wonder why you don't get any respect.
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | September 07, 2007 at 11:30 AM
It just so happens, James, that 86% of the American people agree that discrimination against GLBT people is WRONG.
Slam dunk. You are the weakest link....goodbye.

Check out Gallups polling on the issue. Sorry, meant to include my source.
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | September 07, 2007 at 11:31 AM
James, you're so pathetic. Maybe you should consider trying a different approach to the issue of sexual orientation. You give the impression that you think your argument is terribly clever, because you keep repeating it. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has moved on. Sorry about that.
