LESLIE BYRNE FOR CONGRESS!!!
Leslie just emailed Lowell and I with the wonderful news. YES!!!!
We are now 3/4 of the way to the 2008 dream ticket of Hillary Clinton for President, Jim Webb for Vice President, Mark Warner for Senate and Leslie Byrne for Congress.
GO LESLIE!!!
Last week, The Hill suggested Tim Kaine for VP, but never mentioned JW.
If that happened could Kaine appoint someone like Creigh or Brian Moran for the remainder of his term or would Bolling be forced up?

I won't say that I agree with everything Leslie believes, and I hesitated in voting for her in 2005, but I remember what she did for Webb. If she decides to go all the way after this exploratory committee, she'll have what support I can give.

Elephant Tears:
Bolling steps up. Governor can't appoint anybody.

man I can't stand Leslie Byrne why does everyone seem to like her? lol I'll never understand, all she's done is lose elections.

Gerry (Gaida)- Calm down and get off the blogs before you say something you regret. :-)

I would have said no way Webb would leave to run as VP up until this week. After that back stabbing senior Senator from our state (whom I used to respect) pulled his sickening stunt this week, I'm not so sure. If asked I think Webb would accept now and he and Hill could run with the new powers of the Unitary Presidency and mandate some real F*^#@king change in this country. Maybe Rowhey would move to Canada in fear and shame too.

Jim Webb would not be a good choice for a running mate. For any of the candidates. Let him rake his muck in the Senate.

Cool. One easily retained seat for the GOP.

Hillary the "dream candidate"? I guess you are a southern Republican running against a Democrat that would be the case. Ten bucks says if Clinton wins it will be politics as usual in DC. I just don't see her changing things all that much. What I want is a sustainable Democratic majority that works for the middle. I fear a polarizing Democratic president will mean that we will lose a branch of government in 2010 and find ourselves in the same position Republicans are in now. I wish I could actually be excited about voting for president like I am for senate.

The more Leslie Byrne loses - the more politically potent she becomes.

Leslie vs. Gerry. I can't wait. Sounds like a $2M primary to me.

This is a ballsy and brilliant move by Leslie Byrne.
Now the pressure is on both Tom Davis and Gerry Connolly to announce shortly after 11/6/2007 their plans for 2008.
Gerry will be under pressure for the next 47 days or so by dems that want to know if his hat is in the ring so they know whether to commit to Leslie or not.
Tom will be under pressure for the next 47 days by GOPers what ring his hat is in so they know if they can flow elsewhere in either the Senate or House race.
I imagine at this very moment the Too Conservative guys are calling Connaughton even more frequently to be ready to get into the Va-11 race...

I Pub,
Your political analysis would be more welcome if it was right from time to time.

Yes, this is delightful news.
All Congress needs is one more angry Amazonian feminist pro-abortion wacko.

t! Very Christian sentiments of you! Brava! If you like someone not, make fun of their appearance.

Leslie Byrne running for yet another office. Big news. . .

the poster formerly known as 147 - your analyses, political and otherwise, are always welcome, even if you never get anything right.

With Tom Davis gone, this seat is a sure pickup for the Democrats. The only question is whether the next representative is going to be Leslie Byrne, Gerry Connolly or Doug Denneny.
Posted by: | September 20, 2007 at 04:02 PM
I have no clue who Doug Denneny is, but if he's notGC or LB, he's got my vote.

man say anything against the opinion of Lowell or NLS and ya get axed. I have my reasons not to like her.
Has she really done anything!? No she hasn't. The one smart thing she did was Support Webb early on. Which I found very suprising when it happened.
and for the reccord I think Gerry is a Shmuck. But I would vote for him over Bryne
Posted by: GAida | September 20, 2007 at 04:30 PM
Jim Webb will not be a good vice president. For christ sakes, he's barely even a democrat.
Posted by: Church Hill Dem | September 20, 2007 at 04:40 PM
I am proud of Jim Webb today. Jim Webb had the guts to stand up against MoveOn.Org and condemn its attacks against General Petraeus today.
This doesn't get him my vote for V.P. but it sure as hell inches things in that direction.
Good job, Senator.
Posted by: Rowhey | September 20, 2007 at 04:52 PM
Rowhey:
Link please? I was actually hoping that somebody on the Democratic side would do this (not a big fan of MoveOn, still think they really screwed Kellam last year). All the better if it's Jim Webb.
