BLOOMBERG COMING IN FOR JEANNEMARIE
BVBL has the story and this appears to have been timed while Bob McDonnell is out of the country and unable to defend himself. Disgusting and cowardly!!!!
Any reporter that runs this story without a quote from McDonnell should be fired for negligence.
UPDATE: AP Story is up. Of course Bob Lewis, the worst reporter in Richmond has nothing to say about Jeannemarie's slap in the face to Bob McDonnell. The way Lewis bites on every dumb press release makes me wonder if we should start a "Bob Lewis Watch", as he is one of the biggest problems in Richmond to the public getting real information on what is happening.

Let him come.

"Unable to defend himself?"
Perhaps if McDonnel was or had any intention of doing his job, Bloomberg's mission wouldn't have been necessary.
We know that people from nearby states have been coming to Virginia to buy their guns for decades. They use straw purchasers; they go to gun shows; they bypass the laws and a lot of people know it and don't do anything about it.
Earlier this week, the WaPo had a front-page story about druglords using Arizona and Texas gun shows to buy their truckloads of guns, semi-assault weapons, etc. These guns kill civilians, law enforcement officers (who are often outgunned, btw) and America is helping them. Here in Virginia, we just help people kill other Americans.
The various "gun-rights" groups around the country are constantly arguing that we don't need new gun laws, we just need to enforce the ones we have. Yet McDonnell and crew scream bloody murder when Bloomberg--who is, quite rightly, sick of our guns being used in NYC crimes--points out that we are not enforcing our own gun laws.
The truth is, these groups don't want our gun laws enforced; they use every method they can to see that they aren't, including lack of funding for personel and overseeing compliance with existing laws.
And then there's the gun show loophole. Why is it an "infringement" of anyone's 2nd Amendment rights to purchase a gun and be required to go through the same background check that everybody else has to go through?
Good for Jeannemarie. This is an important issue and I'm glad it's getting some attention. We've allowed the gun lobby to run this state for too long--by intimidating and purchasing our legislators.

LAS:
Whatever. Your personal view on guns don't change the fact that JMDD is a old dried-out dog crap that Tom found lying in a park one day; a turd that he took home and raised, taught it how to walk and talk, pretended it was actually a human woman, and then had an affair with the lady-turd when it married somebody else. This woman makes me sick. She's so incredibly vile that she makes me want to hug George Allen in comparison.
And Bloomberg ain't much better. Did you even READ the article I just posted? If I were in the Chap Camp, I'd remind people of his recent little "slip of the tounge", and remind people we need leaders for Virginians, not New Yorkers.
As for your personal view on guns, I can only speak for myself when I say "molon labe." But that's just my opinion. The JMDD-turd story is a fact. Ask Tom, go ahead.

Dan! No dirty words here, especially in greek!
Mellon Labs right back at you.
I thought Bloombird was a Democrat again. Ah, go figure.

Good for Jeannemarie. Mike Bloomberg is a self made man that stands up for what is right - not just a political party. Pretty amazing endorsement.
Posted by: | October 31, 2007 at 07:18 PM
About the turd thing - I heard that, too.

Anon 7:18-
Mike Bloomberg is an opportunist. Life-long Democrat, then all of the sudden 9/11 happens and Rudy's popular again. He changes parties to get elected. Are you kidding me?
This is pretty much all Jeannemarie has left now, huh? Gun-control? Is she just TOTALLY counting out her base? Because that's still a pretty sizeable portion of voters that she can't ignore.
Posted by: Dan Geroe | October 31, 2007 at 07:32 PM
This is a dumb move on her part - it alienates the folks that should be her base (well, at least those that don't know about the RINO thing) because last time i checked most virginia folks (especially conservative ones) don't give a rat's ass about the new york city mayor.

The NRA and gun rights shills are all just in it for the money. Take a look at this article from a former NRA lobbyist.

anyone else think it's hilarious that she decides to "roll out" the one person in politics that's just as confused about his political affiliation as she is?

Ben - Love the new tag line :)

All I know, if BVBL calls foul, then it must be wrong, cause those guys are crazy bigot wackos.

Maybe Bloomberg is using us as a guinea pig for a Perot-like self-financed 3d party Presidential campaign next year. Maybe when the VA GOP decided to go with a convention next year, Tom decided to screw the whole party and jump aboard the Bloomberg gravy train. Who needs K Street when you can have Wall Street?
Posted by: Joel Rutstein | October 31, 2007 at 07:47 PM
Joel brings up an interesting point. What in the world is Mike Bloomberg doing in VA? What is his connection to the Davis family? Does anyone know? It's obvious he's not coming because of his deep commitment to the VA Senate or to JMDD. what gives?
Posted by: The Southern Belle | October 31, 2007 at 07:53 PM
hehe. I'm actually waiting for the 3rd party evangelical ticket. I'm actually hoping and *praying* for that one.
Posted by: TC | October 31, 2007 at 07:54 PM
There's just no way Bush, Boehner, and McConnell (not to mention all of the GOP Presidential candidates) are going to appreciate Tom's wife bringing in the ultimate RINO. Tom is burning bridges, dreaming of Bloomberg's pot of gold on the other side. As long as I'm mixing bridges with rainbows, I suppose we can expect Jeannemarie's next celebrity last minute endorsement to be from a high profile gay Republican. I predict Sen. Craig comes to VA to come out of the closet. You read it here first.

Re: Does your wife want to win or what?
How are you going to get her to commit to the rest of our schedule? My notes are in brackets below.
Thu. Nov. 1 - gun confiscation with Bloomberg [done - this one was like pulling teeth, and I thought this would be the easy one]
Fri. Nov. 2 - invite family of refugees from Prince William County to stay in your home [you can kick them right out again after election day]
Sat. Nov. 3 - she gets an abortion [it's not like she's pregnant]
Sun. Nov. 4 - she comes out of the closet [if it bothers you that much she can claim she's bi, like that Tila person you guys like to watch on teh MTV]
Mon. Nov. 5 - saturation tv coverage with our special ad, you know, the one where it's just Jeannemarie looking right in to the camera shrieking "Don't vote for me!"
Tue. Nov. 6 - we win one vote [yours] to zero as Republicans' heads have exploded and Democrats are too befuddled to vote. [you would have had two votes but Jeannemarie believed those doorhangers and thinks the election already happened]

Ok. I'm really sure that NLS is concerned about a slap in the face to Bob McDonnell. The crocidile tears are flowing...Another made up conflict from Partisan Politics central.
Posted by: | October 31, 2007 at 09:11 PM
This is to take place at Dulles Airport. One could assume Bloomberg is doing a short stop and then will take off in his private jet to where ever he is heading.
McConnell is on a 10 day trip to Israel sponsored by
Israel and American Israel Friendship league. He will be back on Friday.....
According to the article I read, Bloomberg has known Tom for a long time. He hasn't met JMDD,but likes her thoughts on guns. He has not contributed to her campaign.
As for Joel's "thoughts" about Wall Street, that is doubtful. Tom's contacts are in the DC area.
Posted by: | October 31, 2007 at 09:15 PM
Ok, so Bloomberg is coming to Fairfax - how does this help Double D? She would be better off if she had Ronald McDonald, possibly even Grimace, coming to help out. At least that way some kids may drag voting parents to see him.

Ben, It's unbecoming of you to resort to personal attacks against reporters, especially Bob Lewis who is a diligent, fair reporter.
Unlike you, reporters have a journalistic standard of ethics and can't just make up random scandals, even if they wanted to.
They have editors that would laugh at and then fire them if they reported even 1% of what is on this, and most other, blogs.
I used to be a fan of blogs, but they bare so little resemblance to the truth now. Particulary here at NLS, it seems like you don't even care about being untruthful.

Bob Lewis is one of the best reporters in Richmond. I have worked campaigns for 15 years in Virginia and have worked with many reporters. Bob is among the best.

Please name one person in Virginia that cares what Mike Bloomberg thinks.
