SCOOPED THE POST ON THEIR OWN BOY'S RETIREMENT! NICE!
Posted by: | January 28, 2008 at 10:26 AM
hahaha the post gets the exclusive on someone alledgedly poking a third teir candidate at an event, and Ben gets this. Is there a fist shaped dildo large enough to comfort them on this?
Posted by: | January 28, 2008 at 10:29 AM
so which R did he get to run for his seat?
Posted by: | January 28, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Um, in fact, Bob Gibson had the exclusive scoop on Friday, but whatever. http://www.mydailyprogress.com/index.php/bobgibson/article/tom_davis_leaving_house_seat/

Unlike Bob's one "source", I confirmed this with multiple people close to Davis.
But it kind of fun to see the MSM doing the rumoring and the blogs actually confirming the stories.

Ben - I can't quite read this ... could you bump it up to a 92 pt. font? thanks.

Yeah...I definitely feel like Tom Davis and his staff are going to give you a legitimate exclusive what with all of the considerate things you said about his wife last year. Either someone's screwing around with you, or Tom Davis is a bigger man than people give him credit for.
Posted by: | January 28, 2008 at 11:06 AM
He's a bigger man than you give him credit for apparently.

Why did you pull the Obama/Billary post?
If McCain is the nominee against Billary, the focus of the election will be Clinton corruption.
Posted by: Rowhey | January 28, 2008 at 11:10 AM
The Obama/Hillary post will be back after my breaking news finishes.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | January 28, 2008 at 11:11 AM
Put the Obama/Billary post back up. It's more interesting than the old dead horse you keep beating.
Posted by: Rowhey | January 28, 2008 at 11:13 AM
I guess he wants to give someone else the pleasure of beating that has been Leslie Byrne.

Yawn.
Davis's retirement has been known for a while by all interested observers, including Ben. The exact timing of it doesn't really matter that much.
But, yes, Bob Gibson did break this before NLS. Not that it would be otherwise, but this is hardly an "exclusive". The fact that he (allegedly) only had one source doesn't really matter that much if you're posting the same exact information three days later, then claiming credit for it.

Goodbye Tom!
Posted by: | January 28, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Ben didn't break macaca either. Siddarth saw it first thru the camera lens- he broke it.
Ben, hang in there- the haters are out in force on this thread. Gibson speculating from Charlottesville and you nailing the story are not the same thing.
Posted by: | January 28, 2008 at 11:23 AM
Excellent news and thanks to Congressman Davis for doing this at the right time.

Best political blog in Virginia!

Gibson didn't "speculate". He had a source that said it would happen within a week. Now Ben has a source that says the exact same thing. Gibson wrote his post on Friday; Ben wrote his three days later.
The fact that Ben claims to have more sources is swell. However, claiming credit and breaking it as an "exclusive" is absurd.

SWEET!!! This means the Democratic candidate will be a LOCK in the 11th, and we can send all our NoVA resources to the 10th and ELECT JUDY FEDER too!!!

Does this mean Gerry will finally announce? Christ almighty, talk about a non-secret, what the hell is he waiting for?
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | January 28, 2008 at 11:51 AM
Ben, you should shift your inevitability threads from Hillary to the Dems in the 11th District, effective immediately.
Thanks!
