GAida

We need a strong ticket to take on the GOP in 2009.

Steve Shannon for Attorney General!

woman of choice

Absolutely! Steve would be great. Will he do it?

I'm not sure Steve Shannon can beat Ken Cook.....

I Heart Howard Beale

WTF is Cooch doing in that video?

Interested Observer

While I am sure we are all excited about Cooch's statewide chances in 2009, just five months after he barely won his Senate seat, maybe it is time for NLS to post something about Hillary's campaign. There is so much to choose from:

1. Her Bosnian combat tour
2. Her sudden interest in Reverend Wright after refusing to comment for weeks (see #1)
3. Her 10-point deficit in the national polls (although not, fortunately for her, in Pennsylvania)
4. Her fund-raising problems (see #3)
5. The lack of health insurance for those on her campaign staff at the moment (see #4)

Heck, Reverend Wright got splashed across the page in 92-point type and we have gotten silence for what seems like forever in NLS time on Hillary.....

My crazy uncle Earl talks to statuary, runs on about conservative values, and tends to vote Republican - just like this guy!

The ONLY type of person who could beat Cuccinelli would be a democrat who attracts moderates like Deeds. You don't want to run a liberal NOVA dem against a conservative NOVA Republican, they will lose everytime statewide.

Richmonder for Steve

Let's go Steve Shannon!

Peter Feddo

Shocker! Cuccinelli launches a campaign for VA's top law enforcement job and breaks the law simultaneously: http://www.peterfeddo.com/cuccinelli_breaks_the_law

Sam

8:11 - Precisely why Steve Shannon's the best man for the job.

t

t is giddy with delight at this gleeful news.

t will stop at nothing to see this OUTSTANDING Statesman elected.

Oh, happy day!!!

Other than being a Delegate in the General Assembly, who is Steve Shannon? As one of his constituents I have no idea what he stands for or what he has done in the House of Delegates. I will support and vote for Ken Cuccinelli. Some people may not like some of Ken's positions on the issues but we all know where Ken stands. We know that he has legislated exactly as he has campaigned. We need people like Ken Cuccinelli as our Attorney General.

Bubby

My Sri Lankan drinking buddy just called. That thing ain't "Ron", its Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of the Hindus. What the hell is Ken Cuccinelli doing talking to an elephant idol? He needs to make his election pleas to the one, true Lord. This is America Ken!

Crystal Clear Conservative

Ben,

Why did you choose to replay Ron the Elephant (which by the way brought out Ken Cuccinelli's sense of humor)?

Anyway, this is a great day for conservative Republicans. Ken will only strengthen the ticket with his dedication to common sense principles that will give back to working families and protect/uphold the Virginia and U.S. Constitution.

It is a great day for Virginia Republicans!

Sam

cageyd -

I have trouble believing you're actually one of Steve's constituents if you don't know a thing about what he's done. He and his wife co-created the DC area Amber Alert system. He has consistently received the endorsement and support of police agencies and served as a prosecutor before his time in office. His crime bills in the House of Delegates have been widely praised by both Dems and Republicans. Can't think of someone better qualified to be the state's chief law enforcement officer.

What, on the other hand, has Ken done to improve law enforcement and safety in Virginia?

KenC wins hands down-

1. KenC mentions that Steve Shannons 'endorses' leslie
2. KenC repeats this in southern VA- noting leslie's prefrence to bulldoze civil war battlefields to build more disney worlds
3. steve 'stewie' shannon loses ag
4. nut roots wonders why

Ken Cuccinelli has refused to return his $700 donation from the radical imam Taha J. Al-Alwani on 7/31/02. Cuccinelli has also refused to return the $15,900 which he received from officials of the raided Safa Group, including Al-Alwani. The $15,900 figure is from the 7/14/05 Connection Newspapers.

The 3/27/03 St. Petersburg Times reported that Taha J. Al-Alwani was "unindicted co-conspirator #5" in the trial of the now-convicted terrorist Sami Al-Arian.

I hope that those who are concerned about attempted infiltration of our political system by supporters of violent jihad will impress upon Sen. Cuccinelli the need to return, at minimum, Imam Taha J. Al-Alwani's $700.

We cannot have an AG who is taking phone calls from supporters of violent jihad who are also his campaign contributors.

Even Rep. Jim Moran eventually returned his own Safa Group contributions in 2003. We are now five years passed that, and Cuccinelli has so far refused to do so.

If you click on my name above you can find documentation for all of the above statements.

Jonathan Mark

I meant "we are now five years past that."

Congrats to Cooch on becoming Virginia's next Attorney General!

Marx's is the enemy

Jonothan Marx back at it again. Didn't you learn your lesson last time. Nobody cares about your lies comrad.

For the person who indicated Ken broke the law by using the state seal. That would be true if it were the state seal and not the state flag.

Steve Shannon is not a legitimate candidate. He has no name id, and he is not appealing down state. Cuccinelli is one of the few Northern Virginians who can succeed down state because they are not giving up their beliefs by voting for Ken.

He has been a leader on mental health since BEFORE he was in the Senate. He has been on the forefront of second amendment rights, taxes, life, and several other issues.

This is a man who has stood up for conservatives across Virginia, and has managed to be elected and reelected as the underdog every time.

Like or hate his politics you have to respect Ken Cuccinelli.

Kevin

"This is a man who has stood up for conservatives across Virginia, and has managed to be elected and reelected as the underdog every time."

Has he been elected to state office? Because if he hasn't then he was standing up for his constituents in his district. And underdog? His district is conservative although it has trended in the other direction over the last few years. So spare me the "underdog fighter" bs.

Not Larry Sabato

Seriously Kevin. Ken represents the only Fairfax Senate district that voted for Mark Earley over Mark Warner. Underdog, my ass. Then once the district turned he beat a candidate who couldn't speak with a manager who spent his free time at Hooters- by 101 votes.

Jack

"unindicted co-conspirator" -- Someone we don't like, so we're going to smear his name without evidence, and not let it go to trial.

who was Janet O's manager?

Who is running the Cooch's campaign anyone know?

Jonathan Mark

"""Jonothan Marx back at it again. Didn't you learn your lesson last time. Nobody cares about your lies comrade."""

Enough people cared about Faisal Gill's work at the terrorist-led American Muslim Council for Gill to lose the Republican-held HOD-51 seat by 500 votes.

What I learned from GoodbyeFaisal.com, (now rebranded as GoodbyeKen.com) is that political blogging works. So let's do it again.

Ben, your Amy/Hooter's/Jonathan/ obsession was tiresome last year. This year? It's pathetic. Work hard, move out of your parent's home, get into a relationship. And stay away from teenage girls.

Jack defended Ken Cuccinelli's acceptance of $700 from Taha J. Al-Alwani, who was "Unindicted Co-Conspirator #5" at the trial of convicted terrorist Sami Al-Arian.

Jack wrote: "'unindicted co-conspirator' -- Someone we don't like, so we're going to smear his name without evidence, and not let it go to trial."

If Cuccinelli himself believes that then Cooch is manifestly unfit to be AG, because unindicted co-conspirator is an important legal concept. Perhaps Ken has been defending criminals so long that as AG he will tilt in their direction, and eschew use of unindicted co-conspirators.

It is unfortunate that a pro-terrorist, pro-criminal element is attaching itself to Cooch.

I am a constituent of Steve Shannon, whether Sam (1:28am) wants to believe it or not. I have never received any communication from Steve Shannon or others touting his "accomplishments" or heard of any of his legislation being passed the House. Perhaps he has sponsored some legislation that did pass and perhaps some people think he is well respected by delegates from both parties but it has not been communicated to his constituents or anyone else as far as I know. He has zero name recognition except perhaps in his district.

As for Steve Shannon receiving endorsements from police agencies, I suggest that Sam and others look at Ken Cuccinelli's new website at http://www.cuccinelli.com and it can be seen that last fall in his re-election race, Ken received the endorsement of the Fairfax Coalition of Police and the Fairfax Deputy Sheriff's Coalition (Local 5016).

Ken Cuccinelli has high name recognition across Virginia and he will become an outstanding Attorney General in 2009.

Ron for LG?

A Voter

I couldn't be more excited about Senator Cuccinelli running for AG! Ken is a GREAT guy, and he'll do an excellent job in Richmond!

Alex P. Keaton

I also am very excited about the prospect of Ken Cuccinelli being our next attorney general.

It's a shame that people like Jonathan Mark, a 40 + year old living in a basement, feel a need to slander Ken with inaccurate information.

Pretty pathetic honestly.

Jonathan, sounds like you really need something in your life that makes you happy buddy. I'd get your situation checked out.

not an allahbama lemming

jonathan,
Do you want to comment on allahbama's contacts with people who have admitted terriorist activities? How about money recieved by him from criminals?

I rather like shannon and cuccinelli, I believe that either way NoVA wins.

Wasn't Steve Shannon also an assistant Commonwealth's Attorney? What type of prosecutorial experience does Sen. C have?

Ken may not be able to win in court, but Steve Shannon eats babies.

Alex P. Keaton

Has Steve Shannon even declared yet???

Ken Cuccinelli is not a leader and will not complete the ticket!!

Virginia does not need an Attorney General like Ken Cuccinelli. Ken it’s good that you voted against Jill Vogel’s special interest bill on the first vote in the Senate special session. Unfortunately, you slipped out of the room to avoid the second vote after strong bullying from Senator Dick Saslaw. Did it slip your mind that the big developer defendant in the lawsuit pushing this bill contributed to Saslaw’s campaign. You want to be Attorney General but don’t vote against legislation to tip the outcome of active litigation. Virginians don’t want an Attorney General that picks when to protect people’s rights and do the right thing. The AG job is a 24/7 position. Stick to the Senate and where it’s easy to pick and choose the right moments to step up and play leader. It’s funny that you stuck your neck out for Vogel and she talked to the Winchester Star following the vote and it comes up that you left the room for the second vote to pass it. She’s from your own party and didn’t even look out for you. Pretty stupid move and you lost my support, Ken.
