Mark Warner Sponsoring NLS and RK for 2008
I just wanted to thank former Governor Mark Warner whose Senate campaign is sponsoring NLS and RK for 2008. A link to his website is in the upper right hand corner of the site- and we will be bringing you special content from the Warner campaign throughout the year!
UPDATE: A few people have asked what does sponsorship mean and how does it differ from advertising.
Sponsorships are available only to candidates I am strongly supporting, and it means a strategic partnership between this blog and their campaign. We will use this partnership to create interesting content on the Senate race this year (like my interview with Mike Henry last week). Advertising is still available for everyone else, but sponsorships are reserved in special circumstances only.
WHAT!
What was Mark and Mike Henry thinking!!! This act defies the Connolly rule: Never ever go against Gerry.
I can just see Gerry's Lieutenants, John Jennison and George Burke, sulking over how they will inform their Fat Daddy that Mark Warner has yet again defied the will of Gerry...

I would be a public service for NLS to give Bob Marshall egual time and equal space.
No one gives a rip about RK.

t, I offered Bob Marshall the opportunity to live blog here, and he accepted, but he hasn't picked a day yet.

Why is it considered sponsorship? If he bought significant ad space, does that really amount to a sponsor?

what does "sponsorship" mean? Not that strong NLS support for Warner isn't the right thing to do, but what exactly are the terms of the sponsorship?
I assume it involves a fair degree of fawning over Mark Warner...

"I assume it involves a fair degree of fawning over Mark Warner..."
Whats wrong with that?
Would you rather he fawn over Gilmore?

So NLS and RK are bought and paid for mouthpieces of the Warner campaign.
Nice.

It's just like when a TV show says "we'd like to thank our sponsors." Nothing more than that.

Holy sh*t! BVBL is gone not only from the Platinum category of the blogroll, but completely! Way to go Ben!

I've got no problem with fawning all over Mark Warner. He has a record of accomplishment to be proud of. I just hope it is better than the Hillary job. Of course, she doesn't give you anything to work with....

Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Jim Webb they all have a record all right
A record of lying. Of saying one thing on the campaign trail and doing the exact opposite once they are in office.

I have mixed opinions on this sponsorship thing, then again, my opinions plus 25 cents will get you a quarter.
It seems unnecessary to tout a "sponsorship." I have no doubt that if they did an editorial interview with you, you would have endorsed them as you have other candidates. Instead, the sponsorship tag suggests that you are a paid staffer as opposed to a typical member of the press.

Hey Pete, good points, but I think the point of this is Mark wanting to associate himself closer with the netroots in Virginia- and that is a good thing.

Thank you NLS for offering Bob Marshall the opportunity to speak here.
Your blog remains the best in Virginia, and one of the top two in the country in terms of overall quality.

So Ben, you're bought and paid for again...looking forward to another Maccaca (or however you spell it) moment? There's another reason to continue to boycott you. See ya!

t, I shouldn't think that Bob Marshall would want to risk going on a site paid for by his opposition...that's WAY too risky. There's any number of ways, such as very loaded questions, that it can be made to turn into a very partisan moment to benefit Warner.
That said, I'm definitely gone this time!

Great job Ben - just keep it professional!
