This is just crazy.
I wonder if anyone at this church ever talks about God?

What does this have to do with any of us? Really.

Hillary is losing because everyone's so sexist and Barack's been given a free pass to play the race card all this time. It is DISGUSTING that one would talk about things like Jim Crow and slavery vis-a-vis The Pantsuit Panderer's sense that something is owed her while she's been afforded every privilege in the world. She has not once whined about losing or blamed it on misogyny instead of recognizing her own political hubris and arrogance. Way can't Obama be as classy as her and Ferraro and stop exploiting identity politics! /end sarcasm
It's too bad that the same BS that Buchanan and Nixon employed in dividing America is being regurgitated by young, hapless, historically ignorant "progressives." Great job!

Yes, it is disgusting. Just as Hagee's calling the Roman Catholic church "The Great Whore" and a whole lot else.
However, this had nothing to do with Obama who wasn't at the church and who--like everyone else--has denounced the nut.
Unfortunately, a clerical collar and ordination doesn't keep someone from being just plain crazy and loathsome.

Let's remind everyone that Pfleger backed up Farrakhan in a 2006 controversy over some remarkable Farrakhan bile. Pfleger criticized a mass resignation of Jewish members on a state of Illinois hate crimes commission: http://www.nbc5.com/news/7782149/detail.html?rss=chi&psp=news
Pfleger said "good riddance" to the people who had left the commission. "Leave, go ahead and go on out, we don't need that kind of a spirit or mentality and a narrowness on that kind of commission. I'm glad they're gone," Pfleger said.
What was the issue? A member of the commission, Sister Claudette Marie Muhammad, was the Nation of Islam's minister of protocol.
[She] “was under the radar until she invited other commissioners to attend a Farrakhan speech last month. Criticism of Muhammad mounted after the speech, which included references to "Hollywood Jews" promoting homosexuality and "other filth."
The three Jewish commission members who resigned wanted Muhammad to repudiate Farrakhan's criticism of Jews, gays and other groups. The Jewish Community Relations Council, representing 46 Chicago-area groups, passed a resolution supporting the three commission members.
Here's the quote from Farrakhan that Pfleger implicitly supported. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/objects/pages/PrintArticleEn.jhtml?itemNo=698094
Farrakhan said, "These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood. It's the wicked Jews, the false Jews that are promoting lesbianism, homosexuality," and "Zionists have manipulated Bush and the American government" over the war in Iraq.

Ben, can I just add that you're the biggest drama queen ever?
Here's a golden oldie from the crusty old bag Ferraro:
"Geraldine Ferraro spoke to Shepard Smith earlier today on Fox News and claimed that media coverage of Hillary Clinton has been unfair and sexist.
'All the surrogates that they had out there, the black journalists — you know'"
DISGUSTING!!!!!!!1
Ladies (and bloggers who gender identify with them): GET OVER IT!
Hillary lost not because the big bad man is keeping women down (more than black men) but because she has feckless strategists who were only planning on running a campaign up to Super Tuesday.
Further, let's assume that this country is wildly misogynistic, more so than racist. As rational political actors that would inform you that a woman who lost a democratic primary clearly could never win a general election. So, unless you're voting to make a sociological statement or participate in homework for a women's studies class, buck up and start acting like an adult.
There are bigger things at stake here: future wars, supreme court nominees who may or may not force you to carry unwanted children to term, health care, energy etcetera etcetera.
Honestly, anyone who can argue that sexism cost Hillary the election and that it's somehow a bigger albatross than racism is living in la la land. Remind me of those suffragettes who were gassed, beaten, lynched, assassinated and bombed.
Lastly, if racial politics are so clearly on the table for non-whites the way the gender card is, why hasn't anyone talked about the fact that Hillary, and every down ticket Democrat, WILL LOSE IF BLACKS STAY HOME, yet Obama's white-working-class "problem" is talked about?
Why haven't we seen blacks acting outraged and threatening the party should Obama not win the nomination?
This is crap Ben, pure crap. Grow up.

Money changing hands between the two--http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hoD5UmGsKxR-pdYmCj3yYT19N_0wD91084OG3
The relationship between Obama, a one-time community activist on Chicago's South Side, and the outspoken priest at the activist St. Sabina Church has been a long one.
As a state senator, Obama secured two grants related to Pfleger's church — one for $100,000 to repair The Ark community center at the church in 2000 and the other for $125,000 for computers at the church's employment resource center.
For his part, Pfleger, 59, has donated $1,500 to Obama's campaigns for state office and another $1,500 to his presidential campaign.
Aides say Obama has rarely visited St. Sabina, although he cited Pfleger, along with Wright, as one of his spiritual advisers in a 2004 Chicago Sun-Times story.

Katmandu, what's your point?
You know this one time, John McCain hugged George Bush. When will he denounce and reject his association with war criminals?
Also, Hillary is married to Bill Clinton, a known adulterer. WHEN WILL SHE DENOUNCE AND REJECT HIS SUPPORT!?!??!?!
Posted by: W&M Alum | May 30, 2008 at 07:02 PM
Anonymous @ 7pm,
Team Clinton DO NOT want to talk about dubious financial connections so your straw man sort of lacks luster. Try again, thanks for playing.

Uhm "7:00 who is too chickenshit to leave a name", most Catholic parishes (such as my own) have outreach programs that are grant based. Usually the Catholic diocese or Catholic charities will turn to local politicians for help in securing grants. These are community based grants, so any elected official would be pretty dumb not to help with a solution that benefits their district.
While Catholic Priests are not able to run for office anymore, they are free to donate to the candidate of their choice- Sam Brownback had several Catholic priests and a few Monsignors donating to his campaign.
So- what's your point? Father Pfleger was out of line, apologized and moved on. The end.
Posted by: proudvadem | May 30, 2008 at 08:31 PM
That father seems that he might have or does currently like to rape little boys, but only the white ones!
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 08:34 PM
dems4dems,
I would say it has to do with the fact that this is further proof that obama is as racist as the crowd he keeps. He is just very skilled at hiding it. I don’t understand how these “churches” keep their tax exempt status. This is very disturbing and anybody who turns a blind eye to these types of things, quite frankly, has issues themselves. obama has yet to disassociate himself with these people, instead he chooses to say mostly, through someone else, that he disagrees with their statements. If these were klan members and mccain was mollycoddling them the press would castrate him.
The blindness of the press, and the ignorance of those who follow this man is incredible.
If the true obama had shown part of this ugly side of himself before he would not be leading in the nomination process. All the normal people would be disgusted and only the lunatics, America haters and apologists would be behind him. It’s sickening.
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 08:40 PM
I am truly astonished that any intelligent person can still be taken in by this man. There truly must be some kool-aid (kook-aid). Words are no really necessary, this idiocy is beginning to be a characture of itself. Surly the democrats can come up with better than this.
And to answer that stupid question about blacks staying home vs white working class, maybe you should look at the percentages. I suppose w&m cant make you change your name even if they are embarrassed with the product they produced.
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 08:52 PM
8:40 - What's sickening is how you talk yourself into a train of hatred. You know where you want to go and then manufacture a profile of "Obama the racist" to support it. Nothing in Obama's public career hints that he, in any way, supports race hatred. To the contrary, his message has been conciliation...to all. As a community organizer, do you think he could say to leaders "I don't like your smell, therefore, I will ostracize you"? He is a tolerant man who has never once uttered a word of hate or exclusion. Your guilt by association tirade makes Joe McCarthy, looking up from hell, very proud.
Posted by: dems4dems | May 30, 2008 at 08:56 PM
dems,
did your mother never tell you that you are judged by the company you keep? The man helped secure grants for racists. Donated money to the racist wright.
If mccain was found to have supported the KKK, and surrounded himself with kkk members, even though you never heard anything racist from him would you believe he was racist?
This is lunacy, pure and simple.
Further, try reading some of his book. If you choose to see the truth you will.
Remember "you can't fix stupid"

"You know where you want to go and then manufacture a profile of "Obama the racist" to support it."
One needs no map to travel in a straight line.
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 09:06 PM
After listening to this racist hatred and reading these moronic posts, I need to take a shower.
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Careful how you talk about mccarthy, he was good friends with the kennedys and history has proved them both great fighters of communist.
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Clearly we all need to repudiate all these damned religion salesmen. Close the churches and make these bums get honest jobs.
At the very least we need to end the tax exempt status of all churches. I am tired of being forced by my government to support this nonsense.
Posted by: Dan | May 30, 2008 at 10:36 PM
at least hagee was speaking on biblical references.
these other guys are just putting on a show.
they should be ashamed to call themselves men of God, if that is what comes out of their mouths.
Let em start with obamas church, see how that goes over....
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 10:46 PM
I don't think I am all too comfortable with a president that still has to cover up pimples, and has to "hide" his smoking like a teenager.
although he has quit,... many times... according to his doctor..
shouldn't one have the fortitude to quit something if they desire? and if they don't isn't it rather cheezy trying to hide it like a 12 y/o?
Not very presidential, unless your talking about senior class in high school.
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 11:04 PM
did anyone hear that one of obama's staffers called him mr. potato head today?
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 11:08 PM
anon. 10:46.
Biblical references my eye! Hagee may be the sleaziest of the bunch. He is nothing but a con man. It makes me furious that he and all the others are subsidized by the government. If weak minded morons want to send their money to these charlatans that's fine. But don't let them reduce their tax liability because they send money to these thieves. That is cheating the rest of us and forcing us to support these bastards.
You want to do something to stop these religious con men? Start by taking away their tax exempt status. It is indefensible that they are given this government subsidy.
All of the presidential candidates have pandered to these guys. Perhaps we should express our disgust with this pandering to these clowns of the pulpit. And seek a candidate in the future who doesn't play this destructive game.

anon. 11:04,
You've got to be kidding! With the anti-smoking Nazis in this country? Hell, they'd give you a pass for mugging an old lady but hack you to death with machetes for lighting up a cigarette. I'm surprised that his smoking didn't cost him the nomination. Of course he is going to keep it under wraps.
Posted by: Dan | May 30, 2008 at 11:26 PM
dan
obama is the center of all of this. anything else is sideline, btw, stuff. those preachers that "supported" mccain were not churches he even attended.
Oh well I suppose if he aint got enough balls to smoke where he wants, he sure ain't got enough to tell those racist friends that they are not helping.
Where I come from they call guys like these wussies. you know the type..
last guy picked to play kickball, basketball, baseball, because they have no balls....
no wonder hammas and al queda are supporting obama. they have figured it out... they like to live, and a whimpy child is their best hope...
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 11:42 PM
I bet you start hearing more and more about obama thinking that he is the massiah. Healing people at events and such. wait till the preachers get ahold of that. You will be hearing lots of "biblical" sermons about the antichrist. What those youngsters running the campaign don't get is that although it might be fun for them and make good theater. many good folks in the Heartland don't shine up to those types of things. A lot of old time dems could be sitting home.
not a sermon... just a thought...
Posted by: | May 30, 2008 at 11:54 PM
Anon - don't get started lionizing Joe McCarthy. He ruined many innocent people and he was not a fighter of communists because he libeled people who had no connection w/communism. He was so vile, he created communist sympathizers. Anyone with a sense of history knows the Kennedy-McCarthy connection which was (father) Joe and Bobby as a young attorney working on McCarthy's committee. Happily, history doesn't hold people guilty by association as McCarthy did and you do and, instead, judge the Kennedy sons on their merits, not by the misdeeds of their father.

anon. 11:42,
You sure are quick to give McCain a free pass. Why don't you try to have a little integrity.
We all know McCain didn't attend Hagee's "church". That is totally irrelevent.
McCain made a cynical political calculation to seek Hagee's endorsement prior to the Texas Republican Primary. He did this because he hadn't yet secured the nomination and Huckabee was still in the race. McCain feared Huckabee would whoop him in Texas so he was desperate to appeal to evangelical Christian voters. Hagee's venomously hateful statements about Catholics were well known when McCain went kissing his ass for his endorsement. Straight Talk indeed!
McCain figured he could get a boost with the evangelicals in Texas from that hate monger Hagee and that it would be forgotten by November.
McCain is as bad as any of them about this religion crap. The McCain of 2008 ain't the McCain of 2000.

t is a close friend with Lon Solomon, who is an outstanding Jewish/Christian Minister at MBC.
t spent many hours listening to Lon.
Ohhh, t speaks
Posted by: t | May 31, 2008 at 01:49 AM
another day, another attempted smear of Obama.
One great thing about this extended primary. The electorate has become inoculated to these idiotic and pointless Rovian tactics.
Obama doesn't just talk about the end of the old politics... he's living it. Just watch the old way die around us.
Posted by: Obama Defeats McCain | May 31, 2008 at 08:09 AM
obama has become the best thing for republicans.
Posted by: | May 31, 2008 at 08:33 AM
t should get to bed at a reasonable hour.
t has been falsely accused of anti-semitism on this blog and was rightly defended by the blog's owner.
Lon Solomon is an anti-semite. The fact that he was born Jewish doesn't give him a free pass.
He pours millions of his parishioners' tax exempt donations into his quixotic "Jews 4 Jesus" crusade which doesn't yield a measurable number of converts but succeeds in insulting and defaming the Jewish religion.
Nontheless, t, I don't hold you guilty by association.
