Before we get into the verdict part of the famous Gerry Connolly Hit and Run case- one quick point:

Under Virginia law- the difference between a felony hit and run and a misdemeanor hit and run is if $1,000 in total damage was done.  According to the police "estimate", Gerry's huge dent on his car was $300 worth of damage and the other huge dent was $200 so he was charged with a misdemeanor.

Where can you get two cars with major repairs fixed for $500? 

Would any other citizen who hit an occupied car not get charged with a felony hit and run?

Also since when are police supposed to be auto repair experts? Thats why its called a police estimate.

Questions Questions: yes, Byrne reads this stuff. We know she does because she's posted blog entries on Raising Kaine before, so there's no way she does not know what's going on here.

That said, she's a cowardly witch for not having the guts to ask Ben to stop this total line of crap; she's got no courage and refuses to post replies here when asked to defend this series; she's disgusting in letting this go on. Yes, it's Ben's little blog, but the candidate should realize how damaging this blog is to her campaign.

PEOPLE ARE SICK OF CAMPAIGN TACTICS LIKE THIS. This is dirty, sewer politics. Ben, you're insulting our intelligence with this crap. Some of us would like to hear about issues. Some of us would like to know why we should vote for Ms. Byrne, but it's become very clear, after weeks of asking for reasons to vote for her or for talk about issues, that she doesn't want to win this election. She's obviously doing very poorly in the polls -- and you think, with her blessing, that a 64-part series about useless crap on Gerry, is going to turn the tide.

Ben, you're a disgrace to Democrats. Even if you were attacking a Republican, it would still be over the top. Gerry was right when he said you're crazy. To bad that offended you and you have such thin skin tat you turn your blog into this diatribe against a fellow Dem. Too bad your personal hatred has destroyed what little credibility you have.

And the really sad part? Ms. Byrne's refusal to do anything about this or post a reply or anything shows her true colors -- and you're bringing her down with you, you moron.

Hey Ben. You hurt my feelings. You accepted my invite to a nice brunch with your girl Leslie and one of her favorite interest groups, the VA Partisans Gay Dems and then you stood me up! And not even a short break in your Gerry attacks to comment on it. One of the few forums that included all 4 candidates this Spring. Don't you love me anymore??

All four candidates did attend and made interesting remarks. We had great food, flowing booze and high political drama. Gerry and Leslie and Larry actually spent 2 hours in the same room together and nothing got broken. Doug did a nice job and hit all the right buttons. Lori had an emotional but passionate moment connecting with the GLBT struggle and Leslie proved again what a fine stump speaker she is on any topic. She has really improved over the years. Have to say though I think Gerry scored the most points in the speeches, especially regarding the Byrne's boycott of the St Pat's straw poll in 2005 because the marriage amendment was included that year...Kinda comes down to we love your longtime support, but what have you done for me lately?

Anyway, you were missed Ben and I hope you can make it to the next event I host for the Partisans or a Dem candidate. I saved you a piece of quiche in the freezer!

As a lawyer and a prosecutor, I cringe whenever you venture into this kind of crap. Every case is fact specific.

Aside from the fact that you don't have any legal knowledge, I seriously doubt whether you have any mechanical ability such that can authoritatively speak about body repairs.
