So have Moran and Deeds both endorsed Byrne?
Posted by: | May 21, 2008 at 10:45 AM
Holy shit.
Kaine has just poured gasoline on a fire. What a miscalculation.

"Gerry brings passion and integrity to public service and a deep sense of commitment to all he undertakes," Kaine said in the statement. "I believe that this race has attracted four worthy and capable candidates, but for me, Gerry Connolly is the standout. He will serve the 11th Congressional District with honor and distinction. I fully endorse and will actively work for his election, and I encourage voters in the 11th Congressional District to do the same." - Gov. Tim Kain

I hope Moran and Deeds have the good sense to stay out of this. As for Kaine, I don't think his endorsement of Gerry hurts Leslie as much as Dick Saslaw's comments do...I do have to wonder with all that is going on in Richmond or should be, that Kaine even has the time to focus on this primary.

Will you put up a ticking clock or a calendar?

The Connolly campaign and Connolly supporters showed respect for Jim Webb's endorsement of Byrne. There were no nasty insults or threats aimed at Webb.
The same can't be said for the Leslie Byrne campaign. Byrne's official transition office website has already slammed Kaine unfairly.
Byrne, NLS, or RK have shown a lack of class. Now we can expect the Byrne slime machine to go into overdrive. It is the same pattern we have seen in Byrne's past campaigns against other Democrats.

This is fucking hysterical.
Posted by: Rowhey | May 21, 2008 at 11:31 AM
This should be no real surprise, these guys are cut from the same mold. Say anything and do anything to get elected, forget integrity and all that comes with it.
Posted by: | May 21, 2008 at 11:32 AM
thw question I have, is will Byrne and Connelly both committ to supporting the Democratic nominee?
Posted by: | May 21, 2008 at 11:37 AM
Ben Tribbett said in 2007 that he did not work on Chap Peterson's campaign and was not getting paid. Now, after the fact and in this blog, he freely admits he did.
Ben now says he is not working for Byrne. Lowell Feld of RK says the same thing.
There is no evidence that Ben has been paid (but of course there was no evidence during Chap's campaign either).
There IS evidence that Lowell Feld has been paid by Byrne despite his vehement denials.
Here is the evidence from the Byrne for Congress March 31 FEC report on disbursements:
FELD, LOWELL WEB CONSULTING FEE ARLINGTON VA 22201 01/02/2008 $500
Lowell always accuses his enemies of lying. Who is lying this time?

So a bunch of far-Lefties try to cast someone down the "memory hole."
Color me surprised.

So what is Kaine going to do after he's done as Gov anyway?
Maybe Gerry has him set up at SAIC, or is using his great "business connections" (read as "pay to play") to set him up elswhere.
This was a hugely boneheaded move by Kaine.

To James Young, every Democrat (or any Republican to the left of Attila the Hun) is a "far leftie."
Posted by: | May 21, 2008 at 02:08 PM
Kaine's just throwing his "cash" on the "safe bet." *shrug*

I am so happy to see Tim Kaine's name scrubbed from RK. He is a fake progressive. Good riddance to bad rubbish. And he can take Gerry with him!

I don't have a dog in this fight being down in ROVA but Kaine should have kept quiet.
Posted by: | May 21, 2008 at 08:11 PM
Integrity? With Brian Moran?
Yeah, whatever.
Posted by: | May 21, 2008 at 09:09 PM
No, "Anonymous Coward 2:08," not "every Democrat (or any Republican to the left of Attila the Hun) is a 'far leftie.'" Only people who characterize anyone more Conservative than themselves as "far Right" are "far lefties" ... like thost at RK and some Republicans. Just by way of example, I don't believe that I have ever had occasion to characterize Ben as a "far lefty," our substantial ideological disagreements to the contrary notwithstanding.

1) I agree with the first guy. Change is necessary and Bob McDonnell definitely has far more experience and expertise than either of his two potential rivals.
2) I'm glad NLS and I finally agree on something...Gov. Bloody Hands.
3) Can we stop in the double digits with the Gerry Connelly Sucks articles...because you're loseing me as a reader.
And 4) any chance of getting a dumbed down version of NLS to look better on BlackBerry's??

Agreed...NLS is a shell of what it used to be. Now its just personal rants.
That said, its great to see Dems go through a purity test. As I watch the Marshall/Gilmore race become a purity test for wacky right wingers, its gratifying to know that you guys have the same thing - wacky left wingers.
And its precisely why neither the left or the right will ever win anything of substance. Too pure.

Since I never believed Kaine to be anything like a progressive, I am tickled pink that RK has finally figured him out.
As to Kaine's endorsement, I am ignoring it. I'm voting for Leslie. She may be a bit of a cuckoo, but at least she isn't evil like Gerry.
If Gerry gets the nomination, then I am voting for the Fimian. Gerry will not get my vote.
