ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!
After Barack Obama supporters spent the entire primary season talking about avoiding dynasties (i.e. Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton) who does Obama appoint to head his search for VP?
What the hell has she done to deserve to head this committee besides being born as a famous first daughter? Can we get some kids of other famous Democratic Presidents to handle all the other jobs in the Obama administration?
Because apparently Obama thinks "dynasties" know best...
UPDATE: Extreme Mortman has some really interesting thoughts on this.

Oh come on Ben - Caroline is merely a part of the process. She isn't the leader of it from what I've read. She has been around politics and the Democratic party since she was little and she's an accomplished writer. She clearly has good and important perspectives to share and I think she will be an asset to Obama's selection team.

If he picks Hillary, watch out for Ben to call Caroline the most brilliant selector of a Vice President in history.
Whens the last time you attacked, you know, an actual Republican? Can that start now?

Another example of Ben's misleading "reporting".

She's only a part of the process, and likely has many connections which will round out the vetting necessary for the selection of a V.P.
Look, I'm a Hillary supporter, too, but it's clear that Obama is the nominee, and it's time to stop eating our own.

Ben's disapointed he didn't get the nod.

Ben is dissapointed he wasn't invited to be one of the bloggers at the convention. He was sure if he told enough lies, if Hillary was going to be the nominee she would be sure he got a pass.

Oh, the outrage!
I was all for Hillary as VP. Until last night, anyway.

I have mixed feelings about Hillary for VP. It's good for Obama, but does it diminish Bill's legacy? Maybe she'd be better off in the Senate, I don't know.

Good for Obama? How about the country?
Posted by: Doug in Mount Vernon | June 04, 2008 at 04:47 PM
Bill has diminished his own legacy just fine--he doesn't need any help from anyone.
Let's hope a little R&R gets him back on his feet and doing good works for the world and this recent unpleasantness can be put behind us.

Barry's friend Rezko just was found guilty on 16 of 24 counts
Maybe Barry will pardon him

Well Caroline Kennedy doesn't appear to run a political blog, but she has continued her father's Profiles in Courage work, starting a foundation to recognize selfless Americans. She has used her legal knowledge to write award-winning books about Civil Rights, Privacy, and modern-day Profiles in Courage.
But again, she has nothing to say about bloated NoVA pols, or their lumbering habits. What would she know about finding a good VP for Obama?

I must have missed the Congratulations Obama, soon to be our next President. The same thing I missed in Hillary's monumentally inept and dissapointing speech last night.
Oh- and you mean this Rezko?

Bitter, table for one.

You are so completely out of line here. What mysognistic crap.
In your entire pitiful life you will not accomplish as much as Caroline Kennedy.
How many books on the Bill of rights have you written?
How many other books have you written?
Did you found and run the Profiles in Courage award.
What a pathetic loser!!!!!

NYT: Clinton Quits, will Endorse Obama Friday.
Posted by: | June 04, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Duh!! Who else was she going to endorse?
Posted by: dems4dems | June 04, 2008 at 08:07 PM
Is Caroline Kennedy actually "heading" Senator Obama's search committee, or is she one of three members of the committee?
More important, exactly what qualifications are appropriate to serve in this advisory position? I would submit that it should be an individual who holds the interests of the presidential candidate and the nation uppermost and whose judgement is respected by the candidate. If Senator Obama, in his sole view, believes that Ms. Kennedy fits that bill, why should anybody dispute it?
I have no concern about any "dynasty", unless it turns out that Ms. Kennedy recommends herself as Vice-President. Nah, nobody heading a search committee could possibly be that arrogant.

The point of putting Caroline Kennedy on the Vice President scouting committee has less to do with dynasty than ability. The women helps run the presidential debates, I assume that makes her qualified to find someone for a job no one really wants. An issue would arise if the three person committee found Hillary, or a fellow Kennedy to fill the spot. This argument is akin to getting angry over the fact that she's a women, much less a Kennedy.

Would you have preferred Chelsea?
Posted by: | June 05, 2008 at 06:53 AM
The pick of Caroline Kennedy is no big deal. It's only a pay back for her endorsement of Obama. But one thing's for sure: if they don't pick Clinton as the VP, they sure better not pick another woman. That would be a slap in the face to Hillary and would really anger Clinton supporters after Hillary took all the heat just to pave the way for some other woman to slide by and become the first female VP in US history. Let other women work for it like Hillary did.

Agree with last post - it is payback abd that is politics. Also agree that any ohter woman on the ticket would be a insult to the Hillary supporters

Theres only one candidate in the race who chose a buddy of the Burmese military dictatorship to chair his convention.
That would be John McCain.

Ben - now is the time for all of us to come together for the benefit of the party and our chances in November. Let's remember who the real opponents are here. Get with the program. Your last check from Hillary has certainly already been cashed. Let's turn our attention to John McCain. Much as I admire him, he will give you a lot of material to work with.
Not to mention Jim Gilmore.
