Her "im excited" face is a big much for me. Seems totally fake. But she could get it regardless.

Clearly the bikini shot uses the same "wacky face" picture earlier in the article. However, I believe this picture truly represents the essence of of Governor Snow Bunny.

Given how gullible people are, how realistic the images can be and how easily these things can get passed around electronically, I would hope that bloggers wouldn't use these photo-shopped images unless they put a clear legend on the image that it's a fake.

There ought to be a law requiring photoshopped pictures to be labeled as such.
But if it's not photoshopped, is the guy drinking beer in the background with his bathing suit falling off her soon-to-be son-in-law?

Holy Photoshop Batman! If you can't look on a decent resolution monitor and see that the margins with her hair and the trees and the shadows are off, then you need to get a glaucoma check. As much as this would be great, it's so fake it makes Grapes' latest boob job look real.

Palin---Queen of Pork for Alaska
All told, Wasilla benefited from $26.9 million in earmarks in Palin's final four years in office.
In February, Palin's office sent Sen. Stevens a 70-page memo outlining almost $200 million worth of new funding requests for Alaska.

Mary Matalin:
Wasilla is an up and coming town. It's the Tyson's Corner of Alaska.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 07:43 AM
When you are a mayor, that is what you're supposed to do. Every local administrator does it. If she didn't she'd be derelict in her duty. Otherwise you put your own local government at a disadvantage. When you get higher up, as she did, you try to end the pork system.
Look at Obama's fumbling answer to this question:
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/02/obamas-answer-on-experience-but-im-such-a-great-campaigner/
Barky stumbled all over himself trying to answer how his executive experience ranked with Palin's. The questioner was Anderson Cooper:
AC: Some Republican critics say, you don’t have the experience to handle a situation like this [Hurricane Gustav]. They’ve in fact said that Governor Palin has more executive experience as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state like Alaska. What’s your response?
BO: Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we’ve got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I’ve passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.
Posted by: eh | September 02, 2008 at 07:51 AM
Wow, eh, all you have to do is watch the video and you see he didn't fumble it at all. But nice "transcript".
Now, can we have more posts about how to fold and unfold the American Flag, especially when it is in bikini form?
Posted by: Doug | September 02, 2008 at 08:05 AM
Eh, it's not just that. Check out the comparison:
In fiscal year 2002, Wasilla took in $6.1 million in earmarks -- about $1,000 in federal money for every resident. By contrast, Boise, Idaho -- which has more than 190,000 residents -- received $6.9 million in earmarks in fiscal 2008.
That's just $800,000 more than Wasilla for a city with close to 180,000 more citizens six years later.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 08:21 AM
And so much for Palin's opposition to the Bridge to Nowhere- when running for Governor she campaigned FOR it AND supported the earmark. She only switched when the project became known as a national disgrace.
So why again is she the nominee? Was McCain that screwed among the fringe that he needed the pick solely on the basis of sucking up to them?
Posted by: brimur | September 02, 2008 at 09:17 AM

Palin is no longer a disaster, she is a catastrophe.

Yeah people are figuring it out.
Girls can't be VP!!
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 09:43 AM
Palin is just a new version of Tammy Faye Baker. She is an embarrassment to the Party and will drag McCain into the sewer with her.
Palin must withdraw, or the McCain campaign is finished. He may be finished, regardless, since picking Palin was monumentally poor judgment on his part.
Given that both the Obama and McCain tickets are about looks rather than substance, the campaigns of Ralph Nader on the Left and Bob Barr on the Right, are looking much more attractive to those who are seeking a discussion of real solutions to our problems and real inspiration by our elected leaders.

Kay Bailey Hutchison would have been a great choice, and is now my front runner for the switcheroo.
You are right, ding dong, girls can't be VP or President- because you must be a woman or man to qualify for either office. Nice way to condescend while supposedly supporting McBush. (oh, that was condescending of me! At least I didn't call him old.)

Carly Fiorentina or Meg Whitman would've made things interesting.
Palin is a mess.

The federal government shouldn't be spending 6 million in a little pisshole like Wasilla. That money could be used in places like the south side of Chicago.

okay seriuosly, Mr. Ballance, do you EVER have a posititve thing to say about anyone!? I met you in person, at the Richmond Convention, and I swear to God you never have a nice thing to say about anyone. You walk around with a little gray rain cloud over your head 24/7. It's complain, complain, complain with you. If you are so disgusted and unhappy with the Republican party, stop hanging around and go party with the Dems.

Harry- Fiorentina was fired by her board at HP. I think that would actually be a big story and decision point for fiscally conservative people who might vote for McCain. It's the only reason I didn't mention her, since I don't know a whole bunch more about her. I believe she is not socially conservative.
Posted by: Doug | September 02, 2008 at 10:34 AM
And speaking of HP, and where they are now, I'm off to buy some IBM laptops :)
Posted by: Doug | September 02, 2008 at 10:48 AM
WOW! The libs are freaking out BIG TIME!!!
Let's see, we have a VP pick with a pregnant daughter (when did kids become fair game Dems???) and a couple of photoshopped photos, and the Dems are screaming for Palin to withdraw.
This is just the next example of how scared they are that they are about to blow the best political climate for Dems in almost 40 years.
The Obama non-bounce was pathetic. It was worse than Jimmy Carter's in 1980, and we all know what happened to him. Now he has to face the RNC Convention right on his heels, and McCain and the Republicans are playing it just right.
The more Dems beat on her, the more they display their outright fear and hostility to any woman that is not a man-hating feminist that has had at least two abortions. Yeah, this is going to convince small town America that Obama shares their values and that his crack about bitter rednecks "clinging to guns and religion" was a slip of the tongue.
I just hope Kos and his pals in the blogosphere (including the idiots that post here) don't have premature heart attacks from their apoplexy. Their ranting is doing more to help McCain and hurt Obama that anything else right now, and I want them to keep it up!!

Seems that the conversation now focuses on comparisons between Obama and Palin. They completely leave Biden out of the picture, and moves McCain to the high road.
Looks like the strategy is working to expose Obama's (and Biden's) complete lack of executive experience.

Posted by: Dan | September 02, 2008 at 12:53 PM
12:37's exactly right. Furthermore. The media has been so agressive with Palin they are angering the right. Palin rallys the base by letting CNN and NBC take shots at her. She doesn't even have to show up. In the meantime McCain can work the middle.
I think they're catching women, small town America and blue collar America in the crossfire. Victimizing her and her family's a mistake.
The outlook for divided government's looking up!

Executive experience? Hahahahahahahaha. That line ain't working, try another one.
Even pretending for a second that Palin and Obama have roughly equivalent experience (something no neutral observer has agreed to)
what you guys fail to understand is that the real difference between Obama and Palin is that he HAS been vetted by the American people. He's been quizzed a million times over the last 3 years.
And that's why the American people trust him to be the next president as evidenced by the vast majority of public opinion polls showing Obama leading.

Interesting that you can put your head in the sand and believe that the comparisons are not being made between Palin and Obama. From CNN to FOX, from the LA times to Drudge, it’s all over the place.
What will really be the coup de grace is when she speaks at the convention and makes all those who are trying to abuse her look small and ignorant.
One thing I have to give to Obama and Biden is that are letting their surrogates attack her so when she strikes back the fallout may be limited on them.
It will be interesting to see.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 02:17 PM
Obama compares his “experience” of running a campaign to being a Governer….lol
Even HE is comparing his experience to hers…lmao
I suppose running campaigns is all he has ever done so at least that is some experience.
Maybe if he wins he can next run for Leader of the world, since he is a citizen of the world, and he has much experience in campaigning.
What a joke.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 02:30 PM
Richard Cohen had a great column today pointing out how ridiculaous various Republicans have sounded attemping to sell the notion of Palin's "vast experience". All the nonsense about being next door to Russia giving her keen foreign policy insights and being close to the North Pole making her an expert on Santa Claus and all that.
He tossed out a great line about Newt Gingrich after Newt had been on the Today Show opining with a straight face that a year and a half as Supreme Commander of the Alaska National Guard has clearly made her the greatest military thinker since Robert E. Lee and that she clearly passes the Commader in Chief test.
Cohen wrote:
"It's a pity Gingrich was not around when the Roman Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known by his nickname Caligula, reputedly named Incitatus as a consul and a priest. Incitatus was his horse."
Thank you Senator McCain. You have given us the biggest belly laughs of the campaign. Your colleagues who must go out and look ridiculous defending this choice must really be cursing you right now.
Posted by: Dan | September 02, 2008 at 02:52 PM
Obviously this photo is photoshopped. This photo is insult to Ms. Palin and to women. She is the Governor of Alaska and has been selected as the VP candidate for the GOP. Why would you want to post this photo which depicts her as some cheesecake pinup girl? She is a bright, intelligent woman. I do not find the photo humorous. This portrayal of her and some of the comments made are quiet demeaning. Before you jump to conclusions, I am not a McCain supporter or a member of the GOP.

Posted by: Joyce Funsten | September 02, 2008 at 04:21 PM
Dan,
Every time you laugh about Palin’s experience, you must really get hysterical considering Obama’s. I know it is hard for people like you to understand that something” is a lot better than “nothing” but you really should try.
Or maybe you believe that “experience” is gained by smoking pot and snorting coke, if so then Obama is chocked full.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 05:58 PM
anon 5:58,
I see you got your copy of the script. It is down right amusing how no one in the McCain campaign or any of the Republicans at the convention will give a direct answer when asked about Palin's experience (or more properly her lack of experience). They immediately either change the subject and start yammering on about Obama or spinning out the narrative that Palin is a "maverick reformer" (like when she supported the bridge to nowhere or when she was on the board of the 527 group of her political ally Ted Stevens).
You go ahead and keep pretending that living in Alaska gives one foreign policy bona fides because it is close to Russia or that being head of the Alaska National Guard makes her the equal of Douglas MacArthur if it makes you happy. Put you are missing the real point here.
The salient point is John McCain's temperment and fitness to be President and whether this type of seat of the pants, flaky decision making is something Americans are comfortable with in a President. Not only was this choice clearly a deeply cynical attempt at playing identity politics, it was poorly executed. As a window into how McCain makes decisions it is very revealing. And the picture is not flattering to McCain.
His best bet is for her to withdraw tomorrow to minimize the damage to his campaign. Name a serious replacement and reset.
Posted by: Dan | September 02, 2008 at 07:21 PM
The latest spin of the McCain campaign is that they vetted Palin thoroughly and that reports that they did a slapdash job are the result of the media being "sore" that they didn't get the name in time to do their own vetting. They are falling back on the old reliable "blame the media" strategy. A tried and true refuge for scoundrels and incompetents.
Palin withdrawal stock is rising on all the political futures markets.
Posted by: Dan | September 02, 2008 at 07:45 PM
Dan,
I am sure your concern for McCain’s campaign is heartfelt and you have only in his best interest and that of the Republican party foremost in your mind.
However, please note that I never said she had experience above any other possible Republican contender.
The only fact stated was that “some” executive experience was better than “none” (leaving out the drug issue).
I will actually agree that McCain could have picked someone better for VP (based on experience) if you agree that the Democrat party could have picked someone better than Obama using the same criteria.
You may debate the experience issue till the cows come home but it will not alter this truth. Unless you believe that organizing hoodlums in Chicago or running a perpetual campaign is more experience than Governing a State you have no standing.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 08:03 PM
Dan,
What exactly are you trying to say that McCain is "blaming the media" for?
Not only is that statement vague, useless and argumentative, it is plain stupid. Surely you can do better.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 08:06 PM
OMG- you cannot spin this:
http://www.usmagazine.com/
Just for the poll "Should Sarah Palin step down" alone this cannot be said to be good. Spin, spin, spin until you fall over, but if US magazine has stories all over it about Palin's multiple scandals, McCain is losing 46 states. I know I predicted he would only lose 40-44 states previously, but this Palin pick is simply an absolute catastrophe.
Here are all the breaking stories about Joe Biden since his pick:

Doug,
Your feigned surprise to these media hits on a Republican woman is transparent. The real story is how you libs sell your souls to destroy this woman who has come so far. I believe this behavior will backfire on the media and the democrats in general.
Any mature thinking person would be ashamed. This is abusive to women and sexist in the extreme.
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 09:02 PM
Doug,
McCain will get over 300 EC votes, if these smears keep up I’m moving towards 350. the media are setting women back 50 years with this behavior.
Btw does your 46 state projection include all 57 that Obama thinks he is running for?
Posted by: | September 02, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Oh, what complete bullshit on a stick- because she is a woman she's being investigated for firing a man who wouldn't fire her brother in law? She joined a party that wanted to secede from these United States of America because she was a woman? She slashed teen pregnancy support programs because she is a woman? She has no clue when the pledge of allegiance was written or that "under God" was added half a century later, because she is a woman? She was mayor of podunkville and was petty and vindictive because she is a woman?
You have an incredibly low view of women, and should be ashamed. Palin is an asshat all on her own and it has nothing to do with her gender.
Posted by: Doug | September 02, 2008 at 09:18 PM
I thought your side never, ever allowed victimhood to get in the way. What complete bullshit. Waaah. They are reporting on someone who didn't get vetted, was picked last minute by a dude who shows no fucking judgement in about everything and is now being savaged for being petty and vindictive. Boo hoo.
At least the snowbillies are making us in SWVA look better.
Posted by: Doug | September 02, 2008 at 09:26 PM
Doug,
I see you still can not think for yourself and tote the kos talking points. You show extreme ignorance by blindly parroting untruths.
A few quick points:
Do you want police who taser their own kids?
The has been a Republican since 1982
She was a Mayor and a Governor
You on the other hand are an arrogant and useful idiot for a party that is abusing women, support a candidate who has no clue even the number of states he is hoping to lead.
What is actually rather funny about this is that the dems are pinning their hopes on winning by trashing a woman.
Obama should be embarrassed that he can’t win this battle on merit.
At the risk of you thinking that I am trying to use “reverse psychology” on you, I actually hope they continue.

You are a smart one.
Sure, have McCain just run on his own. Captain Wurthers alone would not make it happen. But throw in his incredible ability to stomp on his own crank with golf cleets, and you get this sort of result.
But put your money where your mouth is- Palin is innocent of all this? Then just state so. Tell me what the polls will be next week?
Say all you want, this is the Hindenburg arriving in New Jersey. This is the Jamaican bobsled team bloating up on weed before the qualifying round. This is the Marx Brothers taking a major political party out for a ride on a cruise ship for all of us to watch and laugh at.

I know lots of gals that look hot in a bikini and can punch a tight circle at the range...wouldn't let any of them within a country mile of the nuclear key. What exactly is so hot about a clueless cutie in the Whitehouse?
