Whoops. Didn't fully read what you were saying there, my fault.
You're right. Interesting to see what the next few days hold.

Two VA polls out today--WA Post showing Obama up 8 and the other (VCU) showing him up 11. Yet, despite this being purportedly a VA politics blog, NLS decides to feature one national tracker? Pfft.
Posted by: Mike | October 27, 2008 at 10:57 AM
Look into the internals of that poll. The Northeast, Midwest and Western regions are basically even or changed no more than 1 point between Saturday and today, but McCain is +3 and Obama is -3 in the Southern region. The Southern region does include Florida, Virginia and North Carolina, but it's more likely that the bulk of this shift is in other Southern states that are already solidly red, like Mississippi, or Georgia, where there was some talk of Obama making it close there.

NO. Obama took some days off to see his grandmother. That's the blip you're seeing.

Weekend polls are notoriously unreliable.... We'll see what tonight and tomorrow hold before jumping to conclusions.

Yeah, this blog pretty much sucks now. It was fun while it lasted...
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 12:32 PM
maybe obama needs to promise to take more from working americans to give to lazy americans in those areas.
couldn't you libs pick someone a little less embarrassing? this guy says things so off the wall one can only believe he is rubbing your nose in your own ignorance by continuing to support him. oh well I suppose if it works on the weak minded then you gotta stick with it.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 12:38 PM
All he has to do is promise to spread a little more wealth.
Posted by: Tatum | October 27, 2008 at 12:50 PM
I see that Chavez wants to put his political rival in jail.
I suppose that is what we have to look forward to in four years if Obama wins this election.
Who will want to run if they are threatened with jail?

Obama plants looking into the personal records of innocent citizens like "Joe the plumber", for daring to question Obama's.
Media access cut off if they dare to ask a probing question. And all of his even before the man gets elected to the highest office in the land. How they must laugh at the useful idiots.

5 polls in the last 48 hours showing substantial Obama leads (from 7-11 points) in Virginia and Ben wants to talk about some cherry-picked one-day results in a national tracker. I could swear this was a Virginia politics blog...

Obama's audio comments that are the big news of today, bring to mind the old bogeyman of "reparations". Hey, my husband is a Native American. He will come first in the reparation "redistribution".
Posted by: kelley in virginia | October 27, 2008 at 02:04 PM
Eh. National trackers go up and down. It doesn't always mean anything one way or the other. Late last week, Obama was climbing to his peak in the Zogby tracker while simultaneously dropping in the Gallup tracker. The week before that, it was the reverse. Three weeks ago, Obama was bottoming out in the Hotline tracker while peaking in the R2000 tracker. And the Rasmussen tracker has remained pretty much within the MOE of a 51-45 race for over a month now. One poll isn't right and one poll isn't wrong. This is why we have sites like pollster.com and fivethirtyeight.com. So you can look at a chart and see where the polls agree. McCain hasn't led in a single national poll in almost five weeks, and even that was probably an outlier; Obama pretty much took off in mid-September and never looked back. I'd be surprised if this indicated anything, because the race has otherwise been very stable for a long time.

Kelly,
Native-Americans will get nothing (there are not enough votes)
All money will go to those who choose to feed off the hard working Americans. Those who choose to sit on their front porches and complain about how "the man" keeps them down. Those who have found a living scamming the system instead of putting in an honest day's work. It is those who abuse who will benefit, as Biden puts it "mark my words".

Ben,
We now have four different polls out today with Obama leading in Virginia:
SurveyUsa: Obama +9
Reuters/Zogby: Obama +7
Washington Post: Obama +8
VCU: Obama +11
How about a thread on this?

"Obama's audio comments that are the big news of today"
Yeah, it's the talk of the town ... among John McCain supporters. I think it's fair to say that Drudge blew his credibility (if he ever had any) with the Ashley Todd fiasco. Now everyone pretty much recognizes that he'll push any anti-Obama story to the ends of the earth, no matter how flimsy.
Posted by: wb | October 27, 2008 at 02:50 PM
I hope to become the balding virile type, you know, as opposed to, say, the distinguished gray, unless I'm neither of those two. Unless I'm one of those guys with saliva dribbling out of his mouth who wanders into a cafeteria...err, McCain/Palin rally with a shopping bag screaming about socialism.
Posted by: Mike | October 27, 2008 at 03:09 PM
I have to say I've never seen anything quite as hilarious as the total panic in the Republican Party as they suddenly realize the American people aren't falling for their attacks and scare tactics any more....
Posted by: Sam | October 27, 2008 at 03:19 PM
Wow, interesting tidbit in the SurveyUSA Virginia poll: "Nine percent of respondents have already voted, giving Obama a 67%-30% majority, and he's ahead 50%-44% among the remaining 91% of likely voters."

Ben - you should post the You Tube video of "Wassup 2008". It's the guys from the famous Bud ads back together to lament the last eight years but express hope at the Change coming. Very, very funny.

Hhow awful that another quote from Hussien Obama saying that Americans should give their money to the government to distribute it sees fit Obama should make news.
Cut off the press for the blasphemy.
Next thing you know someone will be printing Bidens statement that electing Obama will create a national crisis. or another quote from Obama to a citizen about spreading his money to others.
Please, Please stop quoting the things that these socialists say, the people may not like it. Particularly the "white guilt" folks that believe voting for Obama will make up for the transgressions of their great-great-great ancestors.
Quit printing because someone might actually have a chance to see the truth before they vote and the only information we want out is our own lies.
We want as many ignorant voters as possible deciding who will be the leader of this country,
Mickey Mouse you are next in line to vote... here's your sticker.

Ted Stevens guilty on all counts! Yes! Chalk up one more Senate win!

Palin will make Stevens win, libs.
Obama's campaign is collapsing over the "share the wealth" red Marxist Socialist comments.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 04:17 PM
"Obama's campaign is collapsing"
This almost brings a tear of bemused joy to my eye. It's so sweetly nonsensical, it's downright charming. Of course there's absolutely no evidence that the Obama campaign has even been slowed down by this socialist nonsense, much less "collapsed." So at this point, if someone wants to insist that the world is flat and the Earth goes around the moon, how can I possibly argue? Give the man a few quarters and keep walking.
Posted by: wb | October 27, 2008 at 04:25 PM
this race is three points either way, libs, and a marxist will not win va...
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 04:33 PM
All these conservatives are using "socialist" and "Marxist" as their code words so they don't have to appear outwardly racist. Anyone with any educational attainment and intellect who thinks we're on a good economic path now and/or will do well under four more years of McSame is crazy (and/or just racist).
Posted by: John | October 27, 2008 at 04:58 PM
aaaaaaand a lib plays the race card. Nice one, John, I was wondering why it was taking you libs so long.
soon everyone who opposes President Obama will be a "racist" and put in "re-education camps".

liberal fascism, here we come!
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 05:20 PM
OH MY GOD!!! Look, look, Obama's only up 5, and he's only up in EVERY battleground state! He's collapsing! Ha! I told you America would never elect a Communist, Socialist, Marxist, elitist, racist, Islamist, tree-hugging, flower child!
Here's another quote and one-liner that America will certainly fall for... I mean, be outraged by! At least the pro-America parts of America....
Posted by: Conservative Terrified that America Has Turned Against Conservatism | October 27, 2008 at 05:33 PM
I am very afraid of Obama's international plans & viewpoints as well as his economic & tax ideas.
Posted by: kelley in virginia | October 27, 2008 at 05:35 PM
Oh, and did I mention he's a Socialist? Not just a Socialist, but a Socialistic Socialist. It hasn't worked the first 5,000 times I've said "Socialist," but you know the saying, 5,001st time's the charm! If I say it enough, it doesn't matter whether or not it's true, people will certainly believe me!

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/favorables/governors_approval_ratings
Rasmussen guvnah ratings out. I won't spoil your fun. Lots of low ratings. How low? Blagojevich has a four percent approval rating. No, you don't need to adjust your bifocals. Palin's 62% ranks her very high.
Posted by: eh | October 27, 2008 at 06:03 PM
Palin is a rock star and the next vice president, maybe someday you libs will have to say "madame president" hahaha!
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 06:33 PM
Wasn't "eh" the moron who said Democrats lost the election when Palin was picked?
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 06:34 PM
Would any of you liberals who continue to call people names and question the intelligence of those speaking against Obama's policy of government like to explain why taking money from one individual and “redistributing” it does not qualify as socialism?
Please do not embarrass yourselves by saying that these are taxes because it is broadly accepted that we are discussing distributions to many people who do not pay federal payroll taxes.
And for all you geniuses out there, FICA does not qualify as a payroll tax, as it is placed in a fund for you to draw from when you retire. (lol, another long debate)
Please keep any comments on subject as the constant mindless drivel that has been coming from the liberals is making you all look imbecilic.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 07:23 PM
7:23 -
It all depends on how you define Socialism. If your definition of Socialism is one person paying taxes so another person gets benefits, then Obama's policies are not Socialist since most everyone is eligible for the benefits of his programs.
If your definition of Socialism is the wealthier people paying more then poor people for programs that benefit everyone, then Obama's programs are Socialist, but so is nearly every program out there, including Road building, and defense.
If your definition of Socialism is the long-accepted, historical definition where basically no one has income, but income is all pooled and the government doles it out equally, then Obama is not a Socialist because the rich are still far better off than the poor under Obama's programs.
Posted by: Sam | October 27, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Sam, you're an idiot. Socialism is a known entity, and not subject to your revisionist whims.
Wealthy people already pay more than poor people, you moron. Always have, always will, regardless of whether the Messiah wins next week. The only critical difference between Obama and McCain is that Obama will start taking money directly from those who he decides have too much, and give it directly to people who he decides need it.
That is Marxist, and that is Obama. But you're too ignorant or lazy to understand that.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 07:51 PM
It's easy.
When someone disagrees with the Republicans, he's a socialist.

Hi I'm Ben and Hilliary > Obama thanks for reading my blog and hating with me.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 08:11 PM
Sam,
Given that we currently have a system that taxes in order to provide certain necessities (or more) particularly infrastructure and defense most of your first two definitions would include current status of our government.
Obama has promised “change” and also a “redistribution” (via government) of earnings. Therefore your third suggestion would be closer to the current circumstances.
Your argument that the “rich” are still better off than the poor under this type of government is as short sighted as it is obtuse. Given your logic a person that has 100 dollars and the government takes all but 10 (away to give twenty people 5 each), is still better off than the other twenty. Therefore it does not qualify as socialism.
Further, you will not find in history any form of government that did not have different classes weather they were defined as socialist, communist or any other form you want to discuss.
Consequently, you fail to make any argument that Obama’s proposals are not socialist at their root. This is understandable, because they are. If you are ok with that then you should admit it and move on, as should Obama, Biden and the rest of his followers. If not, you should not have to contort a definition to match something that it is not.
Many people are blinded by the eloquence of words, the thoughtful will listen, understand and decide.

Nice trolling there!
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 08:23 PM
Socialism is collective ownership of the means of production--like you know, the bank bailout Bush proposed and McCain voted for. Or the Alaska Trust Fund which uses windfall profits tax on the oil companies to give free handouts to everyone in Alaska.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 08:25 PM
If you're against either of those things, BTW (or the progressive income tax as a whole) and you're intellectually hones you will vote for Barr, because he's the only one in the race who opposes all above examples of Socialism using the dictionary definition.
Posted by: | October 27, 2008 at 08:28 PM
Sarah Palin is governor of a state that takes money from the oil companies and redistributes it directly to Alaskans by sending them a big check each year -- isn't that classic socialism??
Posted by: | October 28, 2008 at 07:42 AM
When did taxes become about redistributing wealth, and stop being about government revenue?
