RACISTS FOR MCDONNELL-BOLLING-BROWNLEE

Remember Bobby Lee May?  He was the Republican Party official who wrote a column that accused Barack Obama of wanting to paint the White House black, supporting reparations, changing the national anthem to the "black national anthem", teaching "black liberation theology in all churches", and replacing the flag with a "star and crescent logo".

He's back with his endorsements for 2009.

Subject: YOU are invited...To a free dinner for Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling on Monday, Nov. 10!

They are having a free dinner for Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling on Monday, November 10th at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon at 5:30 p.m.

I feel very strongly that we should have a big turnout for our great Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling heading into '09, especially with the ridiculous challenge being mounted against him by Patrick Muldoon. So it is important that everyone possible to attend this event and show our support and appreciation for the LG.

With the disasterous election results from Nov. 4, I cannot overstress the importance of our sticking together behind Lt. Gov. Bolling, a winning candidate for re-election.

We already have in place 2/3rds of a winning ticket for 2009 with Bob McDonnell & Bill Bolling. I'm also supporting John Brownlee for Attorney General to complete the ticket and hope that you all join with me in forming what I believe to be the strongest team that can take us to victory: McDonnell-Bolling-Brownlee '09!

But regardless of that, it is critical that we unite behind McDonnell & Bolling early and not waste energy or vital resources on an intra-party fight. Every dollar, every minute, every ounce of energy needs to go towards fighting the Obama-crats and putting The Old Dominion back in the red column in 2009."

What makes it even worse is this picture.  It shows John Brownlee talking to Bobby Lee May trying to get his endorsement at a Buchanan County event.  Even after May wrote his nationally condemned racist column John Brownlee has accepted his endorsement

When Brownlee takes endorsements like this it shows how low he is willing to go in this campaign.   McDonnell and Bolling need to reject this endorsement- and they should also make it clear to Brownlee that campaigning with racists is not acceptable in the Republican Party.

If they believe that...

Look for Kaine to get an Obama Cabinet post.

Look for Kaine to resign, Bolling to assume the Governorship, and the GOP nomination for Governor.

McDonnell then runs for re-election to AG. Brownlee drops out. Does Cooch? More later.

The only newsflash in your post, NLS, is that there will be free food.

Now that's worth showing up for.

Our president-elect had a pastor/mentor who said "God Damn America" and another "friend" who is an admitted terrorist, so obviously alot of people don't seem to care about endorsements too much these days.

He wasn't his friend. They served on a non-profit board together (along with Republicans). Also, may I suggest you do some research on black churches and what would make someone feel that way. It is difficult to understand the Rev. Wright situation when you have absolutely no cultural context to put it in. The black church has long been a place of more than just worship or listening to biblical teachings. It has been a forum since the days when it was unacceptable for blacks to speak their mind freely in public. I am not saying that all blacks would say "God damn America," but I would say that sometimes you can hear something and not necessarily agree with it. Also, keep in mind that Rev. Wright served this country in the military and does a lot of work in the community. People like you have taken a sound bit from his years of preaching and tried to use it to judge his entire character. I am sure someone could find something dumb any one of us have said at some point, but we wouldn't want anyone to judge our entire character based on it and we certainly wouldn't want to be judged based on a sound bite from someone we know.

GOPHokie, what your champion falsely calls "palling around with terrorists" was nothing but a joint servitude on a board that was shared with many others, including conservative Republicans. Have you not asked yourself ONCE why these conservatives did not refuse to serve on the same board as Ayers? Perhaps the canard you have fallen for is nothing but smoke and mirrors, concocted by a desperate party in decline to save their hides?

Besides, how does a conservative explain the statements from such exhalted conservatives like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell on the day after 9/11, and combine that with the "palling around" between these radicals and the right-wing party's finest?

As a refresher, the comments:

JERRY FALWELL: ....what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact -- if, in fact -- God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.
.....
JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system..

-----------------------------

Hmmm, we GOT WHAT WE DESERVE?

Those are the right-wing loons closely aligned with the Republican party who claimed that all those unfortunate victims of 9/11 got "what we deserve." And who are the folks "palling around with" these radical loons? Why, president Bush of course. And McCain.

The hypcorisy from the right is astounding. It is entirely acceptable for a right-wing loon to claim that we are "damned by God" to "get what we deserve" (referring to 9/11 as God's wrath upon us all) when it is uttered in the context that it is the turn to secularism and increased rights for gays and lesbians?

Ultimately it is that type of insufferable hyocrisy from the right that has been one of the main reasons for the collapse of that party into insignificant minority status.

UVA, you are wasting your breath trying to set the record straight. Those who want to continue to besmirch the new president-elect with such talk aren't interested in the truth, they are so enraged that they lost they cannot see straight.

red dem,

Your are right. I suppose I should stop bitting my head against the brick wall.

You are*

Wow. Did I just read someone try to justify Rev. Wright's comments based on the fact it is a black church? Unbelievable. So playing the race card is perfectly fine to justify that type of language from a "man of God"? Pres.-elect Obama himself would not stand for that spin, and I hope Obama's african-american supporters do not believe race can be tossed out there to justify what Rev. Wright said because, if so, we'll be going backwards, not forward, racially speaking.

No you did not read that. Go back and read again. I did not say his comments were justified, but I did say it is important to put it into a cultural context before you try to tie Obama to Wright's comments.

I personally believe that the comments of Bobby Lee May and the Rev. Wright are both totally inexcusable.

t,

I think that's a legit theory and would happen as you've described. However, Kaine recently stated he will not leave the governor's office early.
http://hamptonroads.com/2008/11/kaine-restates-his-pledge-finish-his-gubernatorial-term

If Kaine did leave early and Bolling ascended, I think it would cause far more disarray for the GOP than for the Democrats.

Establishment folks like him tend to be more racist, Thats why if you want to avoid being a racist you must vote for Cuccinelli next year and Marshall in 2012.

What I am trying to show (and you all are helping with), is that just b/c Bobby Lee endorses McDonnell/Bolling/etc doesn't mean they are in lock step with his views.

GOP Hokie,

You might be right, but as you have pointed it, it can be hard to separate that out.

You liberals are really stretching to equate Wrights remarks with any reasonable clergyman. The lunacy of your arguments is astounding.

One can only guess that your embarrassment, over supporting someone who can call a friend to the likes of Ayers and Wright, clouds your view.

Be gracious winners, the error of your ways will not be long away. We see the winds of socialism blowing as we speak. Your “white guilt” assuaged, you might now focus your interest clearly on facts.
As your rights, or those of others, are plowed asunder; will you continue to cheerlead or will you give the same scrutiny to this government that you gave the last?
Do you give away the first and second amendment because you may disagree? If so you have no complaint when the knock is heard at your door.
We can only hope that “irrational exuberance” useful in winning your candidate an election does not turn into a continued blindness on the abuses foretold by those who have yet to even sit in the seats of leadership that governs our nation.

The dangers already show themselves in the subtle verse as they profess to “rule” this country instead of “govern”.

So are you leftists going to separate Brian Moran from his racist brother?

Get off this whole guilt by association... Let's not talk about Brian Morans association with a known anti-Semite. Or Terry McAulufs Association with Global Crossing and the House Bank... Or have you all forgotten about Rev. Wright and Billy Ayres who both in recent days have praised Obama and come out of the wood work... I am here to stand in the way of your teams radical agenda to introduce socialism to Virgina.

Forgot to mention the known anti-Semite, is Rep Moran the State legistlator's brother...

I ask other dems who seem to praise Brian Moran how do they sleep at night especially you Del. Adam Ebbin and David Englin... i know both of you are morons but nmever thoght you be colaborators with a known anti-semit

Bobby Lee May is a friend of mine. The constant bashing that the leftists give him is just silly.

Stick to the issues.

Attack on policy points.

Move the debate forward.

Demonizing a good man like Bobby May just shows your lack of seriousness!

Ebbin and Moran went to Israel together in September. Brian is not in any way an anti-semite.

Uh maybe your forgot what i said Brian Moran is friendly with his anti-semetic brother rep. jim moran...

are you now making excuses for comments made my rep. moran in the past... or is this how Dems play the game when someone on there side like Rep. Moran makes a comment they aren't called racists similar to Joe Biden's anti-indian comment, or Sen. Byrd's racial slurs he has made... tell me how is that the Dem party seems to harbor anti-semits like Jim Moran, Racists like VP Biden and hate mongers like Byrd...

sad ... sad... now you have a crapet bagger and a guy who hangs out wiht anti-semites running for Governor...
