Tim Kaine's commitment to dirty energy sources like coal has been well documented.
But he's taking it to a new level in this budget. According to Planetsave Kaine is cutting 14 of 54 Air Inspectors around the state.
Increasing dirty production, while gutting funding for clean air oversight. Unacceptable.
I wonder which Democratic candidate for Governor will be the leader to campaign against these cuts.
t is angry that Kaine cut the air inspectors.
t likes to breathe fresh air.
t believes we have a Biblical responsibility to be good stewards to our environment.

look, many posters here are democrats. don't you see that dems are just as "dirty" (pun intended) as those evil Republicans you rail against?

Ben Tribbett's commitment to impoverishing southside and southwest Virginia has been well documented.
But he's taking it to a new level. Now he demonstrates his ignorance of the coal industry by calling it dirty.
Ben obviously doesn't know that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton supports clean coal. Doh!

Perhaps if Hillary had to siphon some of that nasty coal dust, she might have a different view, eh?

Anon 10:07 AM: Yeah, coal has brought soooooo much prosperity to southwest Virginia. That's why it's one of the poorest places in America. If coal's so great, why isn't southwest Virginia rich?

Here's a question:
They need electrical power in southwest VA. If they don't build a coal plant, what kind of plant can they build to generate electricity?
Is the argument that they don't need a new power source? If they do, is someone going to build a plant with a different fuel source for them? How much would that cost, seeing as coal is practically underneath the plant?
I don't mind people "preferring" that a certain technology not be used. What I haven't heard much of in this argument is a practical alternative for use today.

Hi courageous Mosby.
Thanks for emerging from hiding.
We'll be seeing you tonight at Merrifield at 7:00.
Please confirm, brave soldier.

The argument that the folks in SWVA *need* that power plant might work if the power generated there was actually going to supply them their energy needs. The power generated by that coal fired plant is going to other parts of the state! SWVA is not served by Dominion but by AEP and others.

core services, such as deq employees, are being cut because budgets are bottoming out. and since virginia hasn't printed its own script since the civil war, they have to make tough decisions about how to balance the budget.
life sucks now.

Yeah, screw all those rednecks in hick country. They don't need those coal or tobacco jobs. NOVA folks know what's good for them, after all. Everybody knows that.

Dom,
Ok, so where in the state should a plant go, and what will it be powered by? I would like to see more reactors at Surry and Lake Anne, but that will take a decade or more to be built. So, for immediate needs, what should be done?
Specific places, specific technologies please. I'm not for or against a plant in coal country fired by coal, but what are the alternatives?

t, sure thing, you'll be the guy in the pink leotard and fur coat combo, correct?

"Wind-power supplies about two percent of America's electricity. Coal about 50 percent. Wind provides more jobs. Hmmm ..."

This is like a bad parody of a left-wing blog! LOL
Now this is the same Tim Kaine for whom Ben voted -- TWICE! Think: How did we get into this situation? After all, under Warner and Kaine, didn't we raise all those taxes? How could we have run out of money? Oh, yeah, it's called OVERSPENDING. What did Ben say about overspending? NOTHING!
And what does Ben call those people who did warn about overspending? "Ayatollah."
"What complaint do they now have to make? That the universe is irrational? Is it?"

Windmills.. Windmills.. are the only solution to the problems our country and our world face.
(well) that and spend a couple trillion on abortion, the "arts", "green cars", STD's, and anything but helping create jobs, did I leave out wall street and union boss bonuses?
And Pelosi in an interview today claimed to be non partisan... beam me up Scotty...
Change, Change, Change...
How long before the Gov. Race???
If none of the Democrat candidates look good, it seems Blago is available.
You libs must be wanting to crawl back under your rocks about now... fiction could not be so good.
