This Assistant AG is in a legal battle AFTER HE ABUSED HIS MAIL ORDER BRIDE.
The woman was 16 and living in Colombia while this McDonnell staffer chatted her up online and talked her into moving to Virginia when she turned 18. No joke.
The more we see the curtain lifted back from the AG's office during McDonnell's time there, the uglier this gets.
As you can see in that Youtube video, Bob McDonnell focused on teaching kids how to stay safe from internet predators.
Step One: Don't talk to any of his assistant AG's online....
This smells bad for McDonnell. We're beginning to get a sense for the culture behind the facade. Leaders set the tone. It will be interesting to see if there are more unseemly revelations.

Did you fail to notice the phrase FORMER? The guy no longer works there. It bears repeating that most of these low-level assistant AG's are career bureaucrats, not political appointees.

Just wondering. When McDonnell learned one of his assistant AG's was talking to a 16 year old online, why not press charges?

How bout you point out Former Assitsant AG Rusty McGuire's record? I dont think Terry, Brian, or Creigh have ever had anyone of that caliber work for them.
Rusty is a true American hero. How about you you talk about that? Or would your story be that he is he a baby-killer?

What did Bob McDonnell know and when did he know it?

How many of these guys are Regent grads? Has Bob spent three years packing the AG's office with Monica Goodlings?

Hello Rusty, aka Anon. 8:48am. I remember when we discussed your American Hero record right here. Your handle was Farrington Firehouse then. We all know you're running for the GA. You will get your clocked cleaned just like you did when you ran for Hanover Commonwealth Attorney.

You actually can get married at 16 in Virginia with the consent of a parent or guardian.
This sounds like a messed up domestic situation. And rather weird. But I'm not seeing the connection to AG McDonnell here myself. It's just too much of a stretch to think he would know the details of his employee's private life. There is no allegation that the guy was searching for love at work using the Commonwealth's PC, was there?
Personally, I think it is weird for anyone to look for a mate on the internet. If you are too busy for the more old fashioned type of human interaction, then you are too busy for a real relationship with another person. That whole area seems creepy to me. I know lots of people do it, but that doesn't take away the creepy aspect.
Also, aren't mail order brides often walking into a strange, unknown situation, both culturally and because they are marrying someone they don't really know other than from a few e-mails? Seems rather sad and tragic for these women.

Ben, who's the acting AG now? Bill Mims?

This is a creepy story about a state employee who acted in a manner not consistent with our expectations for public servants. He should be fired, and face whatever justice is due through the legal process.
This, however, does not seem in the slightest to be a Bob McDonnell issue just as a VDOT residency employee's transgressions would not reflect back on Governor Kaine.

Come on Ben, you know there's nothing here.
He was hired in 19998 and left in 2007...only working 1 year for Bob....he worked for Earley, Beales, Kilgore, Jagdmann, and then McDonnell.
Your story is a HUUUGE stretch.

The guy you are all talking about was hired in 1998 and worked through 2007, this means, he worked ONE YEAR, that is, 1 year under McDonnell

Wasn't this associate AG working in the AAG, which is the lowest level of their office and we really would not have much influence on the AG?
agreeing here with TC--this is a stretch

Way to show yourself to be a complete dumbass, Ben. Again.
ROFL!!

Do you folks mean to say that if someone on then Senator Obama's (Senate)staff did exactly the same things as these two have, that you would not be claiming this to be a reflection on him?

I have no idea how that repeat just happened, sorry.
I was just checking back in on the discussion.

“employee who acted in a manner not consistent with our expectations for public servants. He should be fired, and face whatever justice is due through the legal process.”
For once bubby says something intelligent.
The same should hold true for the Obambi “public servants” let’s see.. Daschel, Kellefer, Geithner, Solis… and so on.. and so on… and so on..
Oh and don’t forget the “three letter word (jobs) man” Biden. The poor working class stiff with nothing to his name but a 50 million dollar hedge fund in bed with Stanford the latest SEC fraud.
Is there any democrats in leadership positions who are not tax evaders, frauds, liars, cheats and hypocrites?
It must be really embarrassing for many of you to look back on that vote for change.
Posted by: | February 24, 2009 at 08:39 PM
and yes, if the shoe was on the other foot and a Democrat was running for this office from the AG position, the Republican attakc dogs would be in Ben's shoes doing the exact same thing. We all know those are the rules of the game.
However, what I'm suggesting is that the game is stooooooopid. People have larger issues that need public sector attention. Stoooopid partisan bitching back and forth won't cut it. The public is demanding effective, efficient, and difference-making public sector action. And the public sector CAN work. It's needs leadership that demands accountability to do it.
The elected leader who proves results in this way will lead their party to the promised land.

You liberals are scared to death because McDonnell is a strong candidate who got a great shot at winning in Nov. Guilt by association will not work.
