Huge Error by the Terry McAuliffe campaign, who also banned me from attending the event last night. What else was going on there they didn't want reported on?

When you say they "banned you from attending" do you mean they were going to force you to make a contribution like everyone else?

Church Hill Dem- Exactly!!

Ben - here's a newsflash, as much as you've pissed off local Democrats, you'll be paying full freight at most events from here on out.
Why do you have a problem with Terry raising money from Republicans? Doesn't this serve several purposes - he raises cash for Democratic causes and makes Republicans blow gaskets when they see their guys helping the other side?

NLS, that's cool. I guess out of tact I've never tried to get into a fundraiser to which I didn't intend to make a donation. But that's just how we do things downstate.

Ben, no outrage from this Dem. One of Warner's strengths... besides Gilmore's comical ineptness... was his ability to about bipartisan support. It's a strong message that says "my campaign is compelling as evidenced by committed Republicans who have ignored party lines to support me."

Any thinking Democrat who wouldn't ban Ben doesn't deserve to wim!

I second the "this isn't how we do things downstate" sentiment.

I pay to go to lots of fundraisers. I do not do so in primaries when I haven't yet endorsed a candidate.

This site reads more like the Drudge Report than a real blog!

Ben,
At this point, they shouldn't let you in since your endorsement is pretty much the kiss-of-death.

Ed Rogers, also of The Daily Show's "Who the Fuck is that Guy??" fame...

Voters don't care about campaign finance unless its clear the money comes from terrorists / convicted crooks.
Bmoran just sent out an email about this very same topic.. strange coincidence? Or is the moran campaign taking their strategy / orders from NLS?!?
Campaign finance laws in Virginia are a complete joke- Real leadership on this one would be a promise to enact real reform- aka limits on individuals / pacs / no corp, etc.
Moran Campaign staffers are too caught up in their own spin / b.s. on this one.

Cobra, voters may not care, but democratic activists and Obama supporters may.
And in Ben's defense, members of the press (and yes, that usually includes bloggers) are not required to pay to attend political fundraisers.

Terry Mac, another typical D that says one thing and does another.
Today T-Mac announces "...for a complete ban on lobbyists' gifts..."
Yesterday that he was in DC at the BGR lobbying firm for his own fundraiser asking for
$1,000 per person.
Pot meet kettle.

NotPrince,
And remember that time he cried to everyone about earmarks and then put in 40% of the budget's earmarks? Oh, wait, that was every Republican member of congress. My bad.
Posted by: Pete in Williamsburg | March 26, 2009 at 08:31 PM
petie,
me thinks you are talking about Obambi who lied about ending "earmarks". (along with all the other lies he has told the American people)
You should get your facts straight, or at least try to keep your lies at a believable level.
