"As you may know, my
opponent is prepared to fight until the end and has the ability to raise a lot
of money. The Democratic Party is also investing an enormous
amount of time and money on campaigns statewide. The Democrats have the
advantage when it comes to fundraising, and I do not want to let that be
the deciding factor in this race."
Actually Tim's opponent dropped out of the race two months ago, and has allowed her name to remain on the ballot this summer so Democrats will have time to look for a replacement for her. It seems to me that Tim is a little better than saying someone who has basically dropped out is "fighting to the end" to raise some more cash.
At least he refers to the Democratic Party instead of the "Democrat" Party.
Don't forget your talking points Timmeh!

Of course, if the Democrats find an opponent to Hugo, they'll sink a few hundred thousand in the campaign like they are against Rust and Albo.
And to my knowledge, Conrad has made no public statements saying she's dropped out of the race. Maybe you should get on her for keeping it a secret instead of on Tim Hugo for campaigning.

Tim Hugo has an opponent its called the DNC they just love to drop huge amounts of money at the last minute.

Tim's e-mail says "As you may know, my opponent is prepared to fight until the end and has the ability to raise a lot of money. The Democratic Party is ALSO investing an enormous amount of time and money on campaigns statewide."
The word "also" means that Timmy is saying he has a real opponent in addition to the Democratic Party.
Since no candidate has raised any money, made any campaign appearances or issued any press releases in two months, I have to wonder whether Tim isn't showing some signs of paranoia.
What else do you call it when someone tells everyone that "people" are out to get him when everyone else is leaving him alone?

Tim must really miss Julie 'cause this is like the third e-mail with the same text that he has sent out. I guess he works as hard on his campaigns as he does in session. Too bad there is no opponent because he's never really been tested. He does some good "pothole" work, so Virginia Run loves him, but he's basically MIA in the District. He must need some dough to pay for the cute little flags he usually plants this time of year.

and not according to ActBlue either ...
http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/22129
last but not least ... the VA State Board also says Hugo has a race ...
http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms/Cidate_Information/Cidate_Lists/CidatesList-Results.asp?ED=11/3/2009&ET=General&LOC=059&OFF=Member%2BHouse%2Bof%2BDelegates%2B&PTY=
what source are you referring to with your claims NLS?

Wow, my confusion is cleared. Conrad has raised $326 ($240 of it from one person). That looks like an an opponent who is "prepared to fight to the end"...like the end of the week, maybe.

to help your confusion, check what the party put in to the rex simmons race in 07. 300k in the last few months.

If Ben ran for Delegate, then Tim Hugo would truly have No One as an opponent!
Posted by: +- | June 30, 2009 at 08:46 PM
Think Tim Kaine would come and campaign for him??
Posted by: Not Frank Hargrove | June 30, 2009 at 10:40 PM
We're not allowed to know if Kaine would "come and campaign for him." Security, you know. We can never truly know where Timmy is (I think the Heisenberg uncertainty principle is involved).

"Mad-Dog" Tim Hugo is raising money for a potential statewide run in the future. I would bet that he was looking at a run in 2009 if Bolling decided to run for Governor instead of running for re-election.
He's very popular in conservative circles because he's one of the few conservative Republicans left within the "Soviet Bloc."

Sue Conrad is still in the race against Tim Hugo, but running her campaign in her own way.
This is a very low budget enterprise. Anyone who wants to help is welcome to do so.

A) Commodity money consists of objects used as money that contains their own value, but representative money is a specific group of the commodity objects
B) Commodity money consists of objects that have value in and of themselves, but representative money makes use of objects because the holder can exchange them for something else of value
C) Representative money allows objects to be exchanged for something else, but commodity money has value because the government decreed it is an acceptable means to pay debts

I think that he is right to worry about money issues - the amount of money you have to move forward your campaign has a large effect on the outcomes. Especially in our society.
