Does it seem like the Democratic Governor's Association has gotten quiet since the primary? Anyone else wondering where they have been?
Well now we have an answer. Their Executive Director Nathan Daschle is busy leaving blog comments at 6:53 on a weeknight while he is according to his own words: "Sitting in my hot tub in DC".
Nathan, why don't you Hot Tub after 9 p.m. and drive across the bridge to the Deeds office and help them phonebank from 7-9 at night if you have nothing else to do? kthxbai.
Come on Ben, do you really think you'll see someone like him down there doing the gruntwork of a campaign?? Why don't we just make sure Timmy ensures he gives Creigh enough financial support so his Governor's mansion doesn't go over to GOP hands. I think that would be an embarrassment in and of itself. Maybe he's in the hottub because he knows something we don't and this election is actually going to be a walk in the park for Creigh and the rest of the ticket.

Exactly my point! Do you think he wants to be sending the grassroots reading the blogs the message that it will be a walk in the park to win? Hell No. Huge lapse in judgment for someone at his level.

I would certainly hope that no one would treat this or any other election as a walk in the park. Especially so in a rematch between Deeds and McDonnell.
One would have to have an incredibly short memory to forget that the 2005 AG race was decided by 360 votes out of more than two million votes cast. After such a narrow defeat we should all have been asking ourselves, "who did I miss?".
The only way to EVER conduct a campaign is as if you are behind. And phrases like "walk in the park" should be banished.
If we had just turned out a single additional Democratic vote in each precinct in Virginia four years ago, Deeds would have won by 2000 votes instead of losing by 360 votes. He'd be running for Governor as our incumbent AG. Probably against Bolling who, in my opinion, would be a somewhat less formidable Republican candidate.
There is always more that can be done. Please, let's have no more of this "walk in the park" shit.

He is clearly usually busy with other things (like shaving his chest so he attempt to fit in the middle school girls gym).

Wadda bousgie jackass!
People are out of work, people need healthcare, food and gas prices are rising and the white privileged elitist salaried party animals are twatting from hot tubs?
Meanwhile back in reality there is a gov race across the bridge in serious trouble.
When do we get to storm the Bastille?
Posted by: Spock | July 29, 2009 at 08:14 AM
What's 'twatting' Spock? (maybe you shouldn't answer that)
Love the 'kthxbai' at the end of that post. Hillarious stuff, almost as funny as 'twatting'.

spock, why are white, privileged, elitist, salaried, party animals bad? or what part of your statement is bad?
white teachers? are they elitists? white union members at the shipbuilding yard?
what is wrong with drawing a salary? doesn't obama draw one?
what about congressman conyers? he draws a salary, admits he doesn't read House bills & wonders why anyone should. i say he is pretty privileged to be in Congress. and he is black.
narrow your point.

They must be pretty confident, I was a repreated volunteer for Creigh during the primary (primarily phone banking and training people to phone bank), but they haven't bothered to call me since. I guess they don't need the help.
Posted by: puzzled creightard | July 29, 2009 at 09:50 AM
puzzled creightard: i've volunteered for several Rep. campaigns in the past to sit in front of the polls (at any time & in any type of weather).
no one ever calls.
is this a reflection on me?
or just a glitch in their GOTV effort?
don't take it so hard.

This is against my better judgment... but I'm gonna chalk this up to a foolish thing to do, but no big deal.
I'd assert that there were other politicians and workers in general who were sitting in the tub after a long day of work yesterday, and that others will do it tonight, as well.
It's just not something that he should probably be publicizing when he's in such an important position.
It's a foolish tweet, but no big deal.

MightyQ- it's a Colbert reference slang term for twitting.

KKKellyinVA- I know you have no care or concern with the level of foreclosures, unemployment, and poverty in our state right now.
But, to see a Democrat whose party is supposed to hear the voices of those facing those tragic issues bragging about "twatting" from hot tubs on a blog comment section, is disgraceful.
Is this the kind of bourgeois we want to support and send donations to?

invoking the KKK... you stay classy spock!

Really, people? Can you not detect an obviously sarcastic comment when one is made? If you'd get off your always negative, always looking for the worst in people-pedestal for a minute and bother to click on the "blog comments" before trashing the guy, you'd see the link to his earlier 538.com interview.
He was responding to a poster on that blog who made a comment about Nathan looking like he's someone who enjoys sitting in a hot tub.
It's very apparent to this reader, who took no more than 50 seconds to look into the background of this comment, that Nathan was making that hot tub comment in jest.
Let's take a little responsibility for ourselves before we start spreading rumors.

Hey Dems, please keep up the “walk-in-the-park” theme for Deeds. Don’t let up. And make fun of McDonnell too. Do that a lot. Oh and insult the Teabag crowd also. Do that repeatedly.
While you’re at it, use big HEADLINES!!! to highlight nonsense against the GOP like is often done here to keep your followers in a “walk-in-the-park” stupor. Kinda like with Dorothy and her sidekicks when they went through the poppy field to Oz. Do it right up to November 3rd….

Mr. Daschle better get in gear. New poill has McD +15, Bolling +12, and Cooch +11. Its early, but not that early.

maybe he the latest polls by SurveyUSA
McDonnell 55 Deeds 40
Bolling 54 Wagner 42
Cuccinelli 53 Shannon 42
Posted by: Edthemanva | July 29, 2009 at 02:29 PM
kelley, call the Cuccinelli campaign or put in a request online.
They get back w/in 48 hours.
@edthemanva: that poll has a 4.4%+/- error, which means its not the best poll
Posted by: Not Michael Jackson | July 29, 2009 at 02:33 PM
NMJ, how is it a bad poll? Even if you take that into consideration all three are ahead substantially. Face it, your boys need to get their asses in gear.

"Let's take a little responsibility for ourselves before we start spreading rumors."
If you are advocating that Ben do likewise, this blog will be going out of business!

Kelly,
You need to keep in mind that spock is a racist who lives on the government dole.
Anyone with a job, who buys a house and car and lives within their means is an elitist by his definition.
If the government decided to rid the country of non productive, expensive members of society he would be the first door on which they would knock.
Posted by: change | July 29, 2009 at 05:12 PM
He's making a joke. Early in the comments someone says:

Lord of the Files said...
"Also, what kind of picture is that? Looks like the myspace profile of some guy who lists hot tubbing as an interest."

Don't let facts get in the way of a good headline.
