The Republicans really blew it with this new ad attacking Creigh Deeds:
One Billion Dollars in new spending? Let's break that down:
Virginia's budget's are done in two year bienniums. That means the "One Billion" dollars is actually $500 million per year over two years.
So what was the $500 million dollars in new spending Creigh Deeds proposed? From the Free Lance Star article cited in the ad: "Much of that--more than $400 million a year--comes from Deeds' proposal to raise teacher salaries to the national average..."
So "more than" 80% of this new spending is from raising teacher salaries the national average. Who else supports doing that? Look back to just three months ago...
"Democrats R. Creigh Deeds, Terry R. McAuliffe and Brian J. Moran and Republican Bob McDonnell committed to raising the pay of Virginia teachers to the national average of more than $50,000 a year."
So the RGA is attacking Deeds for being a "big spender" when over 80% of his "spending" was on something Bob McDonnell supports?
Whoops!
Rest In Peace, Mr. Kennedy

It's an effective add for independent voters who dont like the out of control spending. According to the WP blog, Deeds cant even update his own blog to inform people where he is today. Two radio interviews and that is it? Come on MST in 93 ran a better campaign than this. Life is hard when you are losing....

Its a good ad. The public is concerned about spending, and here you have the candidate bragging about being the biggest spender in Richmond. Nicely done, although they should have included captions to make Deeds easier to understand.

"Virginia's budget's are done in two year bienniums."
Lovely apostrophe there. Who taught you grammar? Brian Wishneff?

So, Ben just demonstrated why the facts don't support the ad, but Republican supporters still cheer it. Quite a campaign.

When have Republicans ever let facts get in the way of a political narrative. But don't call them liars!
The stuff they say is not lies!
It's just bullshit.

Someday the invisible space man will judge you too, i.pub.
But not really, because he's not real. Sorry for spoiling the ending.

Who is actually going to look up the Free Lance Star article referenced and make that connection?
Campaigns lie because it works.

Awesome ad since the number one issue for Americans is reducing the deficit. this ad reminds Virginians that Deeds will bring the same problems to VA.
McDonnell is kicking butt.
Anyone know when Deeds might begin campaigning? Running ads? Telling us what his ideas are?

At least the Republican Governors Association uses citations in their ads that are true. The Democrat Governors Association just flat lies...but that’s sadly is NOT news…it’s just what Democrats do reflectively. Part of their political DNA…

Virginia's legislators are required to pass balanced budgets.

Mr. GOP once again provides an example of the over the top irony that Republicans are famous for. After listening to Republicans spend the summer spreading some of the most outrageous lies about "death panels" and such he would accuse Democrats of being liars.
By the way, I believe you meant reflexively not reflectively. Unless you meant that they were somehow reflecting the constant lying of the Republicans.
