Here's what the Washington Blade had to say about McDonnell when he ran for AG:
"McDonnell voted for the Virginia marriage amendment and a resolution urging Congress to pass a Federal Marriage Amendment, according to Equality Virginia. He also has not signed Equality Virginia’s employment non-discrimination pledge. McDonnell voted against a law to allow private companies to offer domestic partner health insurance, something his opponent supported. McDonnell also supported the failed anti-gay adoption bill."
So Bob opposes allowing private companies to give employees the benefits they choose? That's the "pro-business" guy??? Plus, he opposes a non-discrimination pledge for his employees? Sick.
Then there was the incident where Bob was determined to remove a judge from the bench in Virginia because she was a lesbian. As the Blade says about this: "[Bob] argued in 2003 to block the reappointment of Circuit Court Judge Verbena Askew of Newport News, claiming that her perceived sexual orientation meant she violated the state’s “crimes against nature law.”
Wow. There's even more background on Bob's lesbian judge obsession here.
Now fast forward to today when we saw the political roadmap Bob laid out 20 years ago for gaining power in politics. As the WaPo says... "He said government policy should favor married couples over "cohabitators, homosexuals or fornicators."
It took this 1989 thesis paper for the Post to finally notice that? Is politics so dumbed down now that 20 years of political hatred can't be reported unless the hate comes directly out of the person's mouth?
Either way, Virginia voters now know all they need to know about what is inside of Bob McDonnell. He's basically a David Darrell Rice type who got into the politics of hate instead of the violence of hate.
LOL
All conservatives have to do in Virginia is mutter Obama-Deeds over and over again. Check out the PPP poll coming out this week. George Allen is more popular than Obama among likely voters this Fall.
Hell, conservatives should throw in Skip Gates in there. Whose side do you think Virginians are going to take? Skip Gates in handcuffs or that of a patriotic police officer? LOL

-George Allen appears to be more popular than Barack Obama with the 2009 electorate.
-Creigh Deeds seems to be doing marginally better than a month ago but is still down by a good bit.

Why is Deeds running away from Big Labor? Smart strategy by the way (he should start running away from the guy who is less popular than George Allen among likely registered voters this Fall).
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0809/26593.html
In Virginia, a right-to-work state, labor is confronting a more conservative electorate. Just 4.1 percent of Virginia workers are members of a union — the fourth-lowest membership rate in the country.
Republican nominee Bob McDonnell, the state’s former attorney general, has used Deeds’s labor support to question whether he is a pro-business Democrat in the mold of popular former Gov. Mark Warner and current Gov. Tim Kaine.
"Big labor is stretching its wings in Virginia in a way it hasn't before," said Tucker Martin, a McDonnell spokesman. "Creigh is running as a big labor candidate. That model really hasn't worked before in Virginia."
Robert Holsworth, a longtime Virginia political analyst, said that McDonnell is attempting to remind voters of Deeds’s labor backing “on a daily basis.”
“McDonnell talks about Deeds’ union support far more than Deeds does,” he said.
Deeds has been cautious in his response, thanking labor for its support but also quick to publicize his support from small businesses.

Sorry to interrupt your rant with the facts, but the fact is that McDonnell opposed Verbena Askew's reappointment because she violated ethical rules on her application. She failed to disclose a sexual harassment suit where she had made unwelcome passes at a female court staffer.
And by the way, I'm a Deeds supporter. But please, carry on with your ridiculous rants.

Yeah, I Pubs, after launching cowardly anonymous attacks on Dems for the last 3 years online, we all believe you are a "Deeds Supporter".

Who hates lesbians?
Srsly?
Posted by: Spock | August 30, 2009 at 09:07 PM
TruthMeter- That's all interesting and all (NOT!)
But, srsly, when you think of lesbians, do you feel "hate" like ol'MackyD?
Is the GOP really that sexually repressed?
WTF, Dude?
Posted by: Spock | August 30, 2009 at 09:14 PM
Yeah, NLS, after launching ridiculously insulting attacks on Deeds throughout the election cycle, we all believe you're supporting him.
I've known Creigh Deeds for many years, and I've been on record here and elsewhere as supporting him. Not I give a shit what you think anyway.

BTW, you can just refer to me as a proud Creightard.

This story about McDonnell and lesbians isn't surprising considering the sexual behavior of most Republicans. It's actually a story when you see a Republican with a heterosexual interest.

You because McD does not endorse civil unions does not make him an extremist. The marriage amendment passed in Va. with over 55%of the vote, that makes it the MAJORITY position.
Posted by: Stonewall Brigade | August 30, 2009 at 10:10 PM
But MCD supporting the right of government to ban use of contraception in the homes does make him an extremist!

The way I hear it ALL you guys are obsessed with lesbians. It is one of the few things that unite men of all classes, races, religions, and political ideology, right?
Posted by: LAS | August 31, 2009 at 12:08 AM
LAS- Maybe, but not in a "hating" kind of way.
That's just WRONG!
Posted by: Spock | August 31, 2009 at 12:44 AM
Are the lesbians hot? Or are they the ones built like linebackers wearing cargo pants and hiking shoes?
Posted by: Just wondering | August 31, 2009 at 08:48 AM
I assume the hot kind (to jw). Why is the Mack D obsessed with 'em? I dunno. Aren't most men?

OK you left wing moon bats, feast on this just released info…
Judy Ford Wason, Williamsburg
"I know and have confidence in Bob McDonnell. He respects and surrounds himself with strong working women. His daughter served our nation in Iraq. His campaign manager in 2005 was a working mom. As Attorney General he appointed women to run the public safety, opinions, civil litigation and transportation/real estate/environment and technology sections of Virginia's Attorney General’s office. As the former head of "Virginians for Mark Warner", and a pro-choice woman, I look for candidates who seek to bring people together and Bob McDonnell is doing this in his campaign. Bob has always respected and supported working women and will continue to do so. Virginians are worried about the future, not a decades-old academic paper. They are concerned about their jobs, the economy, public safety, education and transportation. These are the important issues that matter to men and women and these are the issues Bob will provide strong leadership to address as Governor."

Finally,
I agree with Spock and LAS.
Lesbians are cool (so long as they are hot)
Posted by: change | August 31, 2009 at 04:27 PM
Mr. GOP- your post has nothing to do with lesbians and why you sexually repressed GOPers hate them so much.
Why do you hate lesbians?
Posted by: Spock | August 31, 2009 at 04:54 PM
Spock, the more important question is, why do the Republicans hate America?
For years they said that anyone who criticized the president in time of war was unpatriotic and hated America and wanted the terrorists to win.
I wouldn't dream of accusing them of being hypocrites with situational ethics who would say one thing when in power and the complete opposite when the Democrats are in power. So, logically, I am left with the conclusion that they hate America.

why are you obsessed with gays?
why is it that lefties use gays, blacks and hispanics as weapons?
