You seem to trying to say that because Mark Warner used the theme of (Myself) Country and Deeds has done the same with Deeds Country that Deeds therefore is in a good position to win. Lame. Thanks for bringing up old news.
Warner won because he offered the public a postive vision of what he wanted to do, and Early couldn't. Early spent all his time talking about Warner raising taxes. While Warner attacked Early, he really focused on his own brand.
That is Deeds problem. He is focused on attacking McDonnell, but his ads and literature don't address what he will do or why Deeds should be governor. Playing ads about Deeds country doesn't equal ideas and issues.
Deeds needs to have an issue that he will work on and make his own. I think it is probably too late to get a issue across to enough voters at this stage. Too bad, as an real issue might have made his Deeds not words slogan go somewhere.

Actually, I was joking that Mark was jumping in the race.

Wilder endorsed McDonnell today! RACE OVER!
Suck on it, libs!
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 03:11 PM
There is nothing on McDonnell's website about such an endorsement. Don't you think he would want us to know if such an endorsement had actually been made?
Posted by: Republicans say the darnedest things | September 23, 2009 at 03:33 PM
There is however a rumor that the burqa manufacturers association is going to endorse McDonnell.
Posted by: Republicans say the darnedest things | September 23, 2009 at 03:35 PM
Congrats-- Really? News to me. But keep in mind even if that's true, it's crazy old coot / disgraced mayor (admittedly former Gov.) Doug Wilder. I wouldn't go so far as to say "Race Over."
Posted by: Church Hill Dem | September 23, 2009 at 03:36 PM
The race is over. Deeds is toast, all the polls show him way down and he's desperate.
Whats more Hopey McChange is tanking in the polls, Deeds will be tied to him. McDonnell has already won, you just don't know it yet! You can bookmark it.
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 03:47 PM
He WILL endorse him. That's the rumor and notice he hasn't endorsed Deeds yet.
Deeds is a hillbilly nothing, he can't win.
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 03:48 PM
"Deeds is a hillbilly nothing, he can't win."
Wow, your arrogance and elitism is stunning. Maybe you should say this to the faces of the "hillbillies" who are keeping McDonnell in the lead right now.
Also, endorsements don't win elections...votes do. Doug Wilder is a good man but whomever he chooses to endorse is his business...98% of the public will not really care. That goes for any politician. People do have functioning brains.

You poor pathetic republican sheeple! The conservatives won't vote for Bob (I don't know the constitution) McDonnell. After McDonnell's support of HB3202 he lost the conservative vote. They may hold their noses, when they vote for Deeds, but they won't vote for McDonnell! You poor pathetic kool-aid drinking cult follower. Did Rev McDonnell make that Kool-aid real sweet for you people who have IQ's under 10? Apparently so!

bite yer tongue there's a lotta hillbillies in virginia, even some secretly savoring their roots but won't show it yer kinda smug fer a visionary

I'm not following the Comstock delegate race but thought you might find this interesting: http://washingtonindependent.com/58963/karl-rove-appearing-at-fundraiser-for-virginia-gop-candidate

First of all, the recent polls do have McDonnell ahead, but in single digits. Some within the margin of error. So, your assertion that anyone is "way down" in the polls is about as accurate as your bogus claim of a Wilder endorsement.
Objectively this race is pretty close to a tossup. I'd say slight McDonnell advantage is where it sits today.
And I liked the way you recovered from your false report of an endorsement by saying, "That's the rumor". Really strong there, numb nuts.
There is a difference between rumor and fact, dipshit.
Posted by: Republicans say the darnedest things | September 23, 2009 at 04:08 PM
So, on one hand you say Wilder endorsed McD today, then later, you say he's going to. Might want to make up your mind.
Why did you say he endorsed today when you knew he didn't? Could it be because you're a liar?
Posted by: Not Hussein | September 23, 2009 at 04:10 PM
That wasn't a lie. That was just bullshit.
Republicans don't lie. They just make stuff up.
Posted by: Republicans say the darnedest things | September 23, 2009 at 04:13 PM
McDonnell is between five and eight points ahead with LIKELY voters, with a little over a month left.
Deeds is like the Germans after Stalingrad, he hasn't officially lost yet, but he can't win. It's just a matter of time. Tick tock goes the clock, libs.
And Hopey will be a BIG drag on the ticket. Nobody wants to vote for the party of Obambi, Reid, and Pelosi.
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 04:17 PM
And I'll say it again:
Deeds is a hillbilly. He talks like Karl Childers from "Slingblade".
"I don't think I'll win this race, I reckon. MMhmm".

Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!!,
Your comments are heartening to all Democrats. You seem to be what passes for an intellectual in the Republican Party these days.
Posted by: Republicans say the darnedest things | September 23, 2009 at 04:24 PM
congrats to GE McD= change= t
which means the over/under on young boys tied up in his closet is at 8

I saw this weird post on here from some really gay poster ("Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!!") who probably didn't follow McDonnell's advice about watching porn. You poor guy; you've become gay as hell and it's evident based on your comments when you ask someone to suck it. At best, you have bisexual tendancies. At worst, you are Mark Foley. Stop with your BS. Wilder has endorsed no one.

Ok,
So Wilder endorses tomorrow, is it a big deal or not?
I believe if he goes for McD or stays neutral (which seems unlikely since it seems he said will take a stance tomorrow) it is a big deal because it is extraordinary.
If he goes for Deeds, it is expected therefore not such a big deal.
Same would go if a high profile ex. Republican Gov. went for Deeds and not McD, it would be unexpected and noteworthy; if he went for McD. it would be a non story.
I would be interested in hearing some truth from the liberal viewpoint before the endorsement is made, although I can already guess the noise: if Wilder goes for Deeds the leftistas will say it’s a big deal; if he goes for McD, then Wilder is just an old washed up pol. with no clout.
I can not wait for the news tomorrow, you are all so predictable.
I suppose the Fairfax county chamber endorsement was no big deal either.
Posted by: change | September 23, 2009 at 08:09 PM
McDonnell will win and win big.
Election night is going to go like this:
The results from Southwest VA are going to come in, and first Buchanan County will go big for McDonnell. You won't think it's any big deal, but then Dickenson and Russell will go red, too. Then Chesterfield will come in, and it will be 60%+ for McDonnell. Then Hampton Roads, and McDonnell will sweep Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Suffolk. They'll be painted a dark, dark red.
Then you'll wait for Nova, but it won't help you, either. McDonnell will win Prince William and Loudoun by huge margins, and Fairfax will go 51-49% FOR McDonnell. And then you'll freak.
It's gonna be a FUN night!

Dipshet, er, Change,
It would not surprise most Democrats if Wilder did endorse McDonnell, as Wilder is all about himself and hasn't done a thing for the party in years. I actually expect him to endorse McDonnell.

NJSM (should I call you Jism?)
Republicans are going to win BIG in VA and NK this year and let me tell you this is only the beginning of the Great Republican Comeback of the 2010s.
McDonnell will win fucking big. And you lib cockroaches will freak the hell out, lol. Change is right (as usual).
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 08:34 PM
Not J,
I love the vulgar name calling it means you are either scared or angry.
I gather from your dismissive description of Wilder that if he endorses Deeds tomorrow you agree with me that it is no big deal.
Posted by: change | September 23, 2009 at 08:40 PM
Cong,
Although I appreciate the accolades, I suggest you might go a bit less coarse on the name calling. Too much of it makes one look juvenile and empty.
Stick with the facts as best you can, it’s all we really need. (although I will admit I go a bit overboard myself sometimes).
Posted by: change | September 23, 2009 at 08:49 PM
Change, I will follow your advice.
To paraphrase you, you only increase my pleasure. <3
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 09:48 PM
What is NK? Are you calling for a Republican victory in Pyongyang or something?
Desperate is posting under multiple handles the same stupid shit. I'm glad Republicans have discovered the internets and the google and everything. Now maybe you'll start to read.
Posted by: Not John S. Mosby | September 23, 2009 at 11:08 PM
You're going to lose, Jism. Lose, lose lose. And we're going to LAUGH at you're ass in november.
Posted by: Congratulations to Governor-Elect McDonnell!! | September 23, 2009 at 11:27 PM
OK CGEMcD -- you've shown you are a pretentious arrogant jerk who is taunting Democrats with your assumption that you will win that you base on -- well -- presumptuous arrogance and no logical reasoning whatsoever! Good for you -- go watch Glen Beck, listen to Rush, join Dick Armey's next teaparty and gloat in your own echochamber!
Posted by: truthnjustice | September 24, 2009 at 12:50 AM
I suspect that we do have a "t"/"grapes" situation here. Clearly "change" and "Congratulations" are one and the same.
I will say this for "t" though. Even with his endless quoting of Bible verses and interjecting abortion into unrelated discussions, he was far more thoughtful and rational and consistent than change/congrats.
Posted by: Republicans say the darnedest things | September 24, 2009 at 07:03 AM
Today (Thursday), Wilder endorsed neither and said they are both good guys - same as four years ago in the AG race.
Not good for Deeds - but not a knockout blow, either.
Interesting that it is not a Hairpiece alert here on NLS.

I have no problem saying what I believe and have no need to post under multiple names in the same thread.
Usually I find that those who scream loudest are the ones who are guilty (I believe you might be Not John S Mosby posting under another name)
You might try a bit of comparative analysis in writing styles.
Although I appreciate the confidence of CGEM, as I stated earlier I believe he could scale back the name calling a bit.
I expect he is probably a well intentioned young man with an extreme exuberance brought on by the arrogant attitude of you leftists, and a smell of victory.
We may not agree with the intenseness of his verbiage, but at least his passion is well founded and (I believe) correct.
I also would like an explanation on what <3 means ( on this I will admit my ignorance).
Posted by: change | September 24, 2009 at 06:08 PM
You think I would capitalize the word "bible"?
Posted by: Not John S. Mosby | September 24, 2009 at 06:25 PM
Actually Mosby I think you are an ignorant America hating moron, but that is beside the point.
I expect that if McD wins the election you will agree that he has a "mandate" to do as he wishes and we will not hear a peep from the likes of you for a few years, yes??
Posted by: change | September 24, 2009 at 09:51 PM
Change, you must be teabagging a lot these days. Lower case teabagging, of course.
