The horror! The horror!

If he does run this would be very good news. I've always been impressed with how Brian has shown a passion for standing up for working families here in Virginia and believe he would make an excellent Chairman.

What a joke! He got killed for nomination. Wrong choice Dems. Ole' Dickie can run rings around him. Brian stay out of future politics.

Too bad he's not running for "governor" right now ...

from a political standpoint, I don't know whether he would benefit the Repubs or not. I will say that he looks awfully dour & sometimes even mean. That would be a turn-off for me.
who decides this?

"Dickie" almost gave it up 2 years ago. I guess he's tired for sure this time. I say he's stepping down anyway.
I'll ask him after Tuesday. Who else besides Moran. I like him but I don't know how good of a DPVA chair he woud be.

Can't this guy get a real job? Or is he just like every other politician?

Didn't the DPVA State Central Committee already elect their officers for the next four years at the meeting in Williamsburg?
Posted by: Hold Up, Wait A Minute... | October 30, 2009 at 10:05 PM
Chair of the Party wasn't elected in Williamsburg. Is Cranwell stepping down, or is Moran challenging him?

Didn't the DPVA State Central Committee elect their officers at the Williamsburg meeting in June?
Posted by: Hold Up, Wait A Minute... | October 30, 2009 at 10:25 PM
The entire steering committee, including chair was just elected in June (central committee members were elected at district conventions in May). If Cranwell actually resigns, Jenn McClellan becomes chair unless she doesnt want it. If she doesn't want it, then and only then would there be an election. So lets not get too crazy speculating now.

Well, it'll keep him in politics, which means he probably plans on running again.
Probably not a bad idea for the party. Dickie Cranwell won't be able to survive a sweep and multiple Republican house seat picks ups.
I think it's a pretty smart move on his part, assuming he can even get it. I don't know how you guys structure your party.

Just look @ his record when he was over the D Caucus - great job - great candidates....Made a lot of gains - this year it is going to slide back. Oh and kelly - you look kinda mean too!

Those who criticize Brian because he "couldn't" win the primary obviously didn't understand what happened in the primary. Creigh didn't win because of Brian's inability to beat him. Creigh won because McAuliffe tried to buy the nomination, and Moran beat him down. Creigh won because Brian took the punches.
I for one would celebrate having Brian at the head of the DPVA.

It is not going to matter. Whe you only have 38 members in the House and dont control any statewides on the state level and only have 19 that right Reynolds is going into the McD administration along with Puckett your party doesn't matter
Posted by: Stonewall Brigade | October 31, 2009 at 12:54 AM
Brian as Chair is a bad idea. And Stonewall Brigade is smoking something. Wagner runs and wins Stolle's seat and Dems when Coochs seat. D=23 in the Senate
Posted by: Not John McCain | October 31, 2009 at 02:23 AM
I thought Moran was angling for a state senate seat either through primary or gerrymandering
Posted by: Chris | October 31, 2009 at 07:52 AM
WOW: har. the only people who think I look mean are my children. which one are you?
Posted by: kelley in virginia | October 31, 2009 at 08:10 AM
Moran is a bigger loser than deeds! Are you Dems out of your minds???
Posted by: Loudoun Insider | October 31, 2009 at 10:23 AM
Go Brian! EXCELENT!!
Posted by: Rita McKernan | October 31, 2009 at 12:29 PM
That's great news! I think that would be a great position for him.
Posted by: Mike Smaha | October 31, 2009 at 01:52 PM
we need a rising star for chair not a fading star
Posted by: notvirgilgoode | October 31, 2009 at 09:50 PM
Mike Signer would make for an interesting choice
