Evil or bigoted? Maybe. But hardly surprising in a chamber controlled by Republicans. It ain't the party of Ronald Reagan anymore.
More than thirty years ago Ronald Reagan actively campaigned against discrimination in employment based on sexual orientation. I'm afraid our new governor is more representative of the mindset of the modern Republican Party. As he told us in his own words, he believes it is proper to use the power of government to punish homosexuals. Why are you surprised that a chamber controlled by his party would refuse to vote on an anti-discrimination measure.
Republicans don't tolerate liberals like Ronald Reagan anymore. They are following a much different path.

It's so frustrating to see people voting to allow discrimination in 2010.

Although Dan, the "dumbass" of the year award should go to Adam Ebbin for not giving the netroots a heads up a few days before he put this up. We could have had this all over the country and set it up as a major vote on discrimination if he had given us a few days to work with.

Combined with McDonnell's recent executive order (and his previously expressed views) this would have shown a consistently hostile attitude toward homosexuals on the part of the Republicans. But it's not like they won't provide other examples in the future to highlight there attitude toward their fellow citizens.

Republicans are on the wrong side of history here. They'll figure it out eventually.

Steve,
If the “future” is that everyone turns gay, it won’t last too long.
Posted by: change | February 26, 2010 at 03:38 PM
Change: Are you really that dumb?
How does not discriminating against gays turn "everyone" gay in the future? Are you that insecure about your sexuality that you think other people being able to live their lives freely will make you "change?"

It's hard to see Ben writing things like this after watching him so openly cheerlead the downfall of VDP during 2009. Some people get the leadership they deserve.

Could it be that Change is a self-hating gay?

Steve,
I did not say that everyone “will” turn gay, I said that “if” everyone turns gay it won’t last too long.
I have friends who are gay I don’t really have a problem with their choice (it’s not mine). I will say I find it abnormal.
There is a deeper debate on that which is not “normal”, which are quite varied and somewhat off subject which I will not bring up; as I am a bit pressed for time.
Suffice it to say that if we find that we need to redefine for “gay”, “transgendered” etc.. we will end up with pages and pages of new definitions for people who have found a new “lovestyle” or a new “lifestyle” on which they should not be discriminated.

google,
Another in depth well thought post.
You are truly amazing. Have you ever thought of taking all of your posts and writing a book?

Change:
As a matter of fact, I have been considering collecting a series of your posts on this site for the last year and putting them together in a book entitled "The Paranoid Style in Northern Virginia Blog Postings: The Tea Party Ravings of a Republican Nut Job and Closet Facist!"

That's not fair, google.
I don't think he's in the closet.

Sorry Stevie,
I suggest you look up the definition of Facist..Chalk me up as a capitalist.
Also, maybe you should check your second most supreme leader (Pelosi) as she is now whoring for “tea party” votes. (bad for her that I don't believe the tea party group will swallow it as easily as her liberal lemmings have.)
Proof that there are many on the liberal side that will sell their soul to push through and agenda no matter the lies and deception it takes to accomplish it.
Check out some of these promises:
most transparent administration; drain the swamp; keep unemployment under 8%; no lobbyists in the administration; deal fast and hard with ethical issues; make sure our folks pay their taxes; no backroom deals; no pork, no new taxes on working americans…
I could go on but my fingers get tired before I run out of the liberal lies.
Keep your support strong, they are running out of lemmings but watch out for the cliff they are leading you to……

Changey,
That you'd mistake me for a good Democrat who'd care about you insulting Nancy Pelosi only underscores the delusional nature of most of your comments. You should sticke to commenting on hockey, you made some sense on that thread.
Posted by: Steve Vaughan | March 02, 2010 at 10:12 AM
But "change" claims to never make personal attacks or false charges. After all, Lee Atwater and Ralph Reed are his plotical heros.
Are you charging that he is a delusional political liar?

Google,
I thought I said he was expert on hockey. Funny, how people read things;-)

Steven,
It must have been all the republican bashing that led me to believe you were a leftist.
My apologies if you are not a liberal, I hope I didn’t embarrass you.
I suppose your future comments will bear out your true colors.

Change,
If you'd actually been paying attention, I think you'd have heard some Dem bashing as well. Am I a liberal? Well, compared to you, sure. Real liberal tend to think I'm not so much a liberal.
