Why Does David Bulova Need Mommy's Help on the Political Playground?

One of the races Republicans were kicking themselves over was letting Fairfax Delegate David Bulova go unopposed (again!) for a third term as Governor Bob McDonnell swept his district.  Bulova has not been contested since the 2005 open seat race for his seat where he finished further behind the top of his ticket than any other candidate (challenger or incumbent) in the state.  Yet Republicans have failed in both elections since then to even field a candidate.

That sounds like it may be changing in 2011, and David and his mother- Fairfax County Chairman Sharon Bulova- appear to not be happy about it.  Out of Bulova's own precinct is Dave Foreman- the former director of constituent services for Tom Davis and now Chief of Staff to Pat Herrity.

Foreman has been quietly testing the waters for a campaign against Baby-Bulova and I hear he has found a lot of support around the district.  So what happens next?

All of the sudden at a public board meeting, when Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity proposes a 10-15 percent budget but for Supervisors, Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay immediately starts attacking Herrity for having the highest paid staffer of any Supervisor.  Dave Foreman of course.

Like Congressional offices, Supervisors can hire as many people as they want at any salary they want, as long as they stay within their budget.  If Herrity wants to pay someone more because they are a former Congressional staffer with experience other staff doesn't have, there is nothing wrong with that.  But that's not the point.  This was obvious political bullying that the Chairman had one of her members do in order to try and intimidate Foreman from running. 

This is unprecedented. I have never seen a staffer of the county called out like that in public debate before- especially in a way that is supposed to bring them personal ridicule for their salary.  Both Bulova's and McKay owe Dave Foreman a big apology.  In public, just like their planned attack.

With voting records of 94% and above, I want to congratulate the following legislators for their "A" scores on the 2010 NLS Scorecard.

Patrick Hope- 103%
Scott Surovell- 100%
Adam Ebbin- 98%
David Englin- 95%
Robin Abbott- 95%
Kaye Kory- 95%

Four of the six legislators with these scores are freshman- showing why many progressives now believe this is the best freshman class the Democrats have ever had in the House of Delegates.

Bearing Drift Says No Violence- Unless Cooch Loses His Lawsuit

Bearing Drift is one of the biggest Republican blogs in Virginia and top GOP officials from Bob McDonnell to Ken Cuccinelli to the Congressional and General Assembly delegations regularly do podcasts with them.  Which is why I was surprised to get an email late last night suggesting that I listen to the intro of the latest podcast with Congressman Randy Forbes.

Starting at the 3:33 mark, here's what host Jim Hoeft had to say about recent events in Virginia:

Out in the 5th we’ve got some nutcases that are going after the brother of a Congressman. And cutting gas lines and vandalizing his property. Are you kidding me?

Folks, look health care passed but there is so much more than we can do before we start taking any sort of violent action against anyone else.

We have got the judicial process which we heard a whole bunch from Ken Cuccinelli this week. Obviously Virginia is going to challenge this. And Bob McDonnell signed the Virginia Health Care Freedom Act into law this week. So let’s let the judicial process play itself out before we do anything violent.

We still have this podcast. We still have Bearing Drift and all sorts of 1st amendment rights to be able to speak out against health care and what the Democrats are trying to do to us. And you are going to hear more from Randy Forbes today regarding what the Democrats have done and why its so bad for the country. We have lots of redress before we even start contemplating thinking about revolution.

Let's let the judicial process play itself out before we do anything violent?  We have redress before we think about revolution?

It's no wonder these wackos are running around doing these things- Republicans can't just say it's WRONG.  Jim is basically saying what Catherine Crabill said last year, except she was saying she would go from the Ballot Box to the Bullet Box.  Jim's only difference is he thinks the judicial process should play out before violence begins.

HAHAHAHA!!!!
