Gas line cut at home of Va. congressman's brother
By DENA POTTER (AP) – 2 days ago
RICHMOND, Va. — Authorities are investigating a severed propane line at the home of a Virginia congressman's brother after tea party activists posted the man's address online.
Activists are upset about U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello's vote in favor of the health care reform.
Perriello's office said that a line to a propane tank on a gas grill was cut at Bo Periello's Charlottesville home on Tuesday. Tea party activists had posted the address online thinking it was the congressman's home, telling opponents to drop by and "express their thanks" for his vote.
Albemarle County spokeswoman Lee Catlin said the county fire marshal's office was assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She said investigators didn't believe the home's occupants were in danger.

"She said investigators didn't believe the home's occupants were in danger."
Does that make the severing of the propane line OK?

TomPaine,
Of course not, anymore than firing a gun into the air in downtown Richmond is okay. However, it does shed a different light on Perriello's statement: "He found propane gas covering the back of his house ... it could have ignited ... and it's very scary," he said.
This vandalism was wrong and clearly intended to frighten and intimidate Perriello. But since so many people wanted to accuse Eric Cantor of exaggerating the vandalism to his campaign consultants' office, I found this news clipping interesting.
BTW, the reason I went looking for this clip was because of a personal experience. I am not an expert on propane grills and I'm not sure how the tank valves work, but I was suspicious when I read Perriello's quote. I once had a propane hose that was chewed through by a squirrel. I didn't smell any gas and the grill wouldn't light when I turned the valves on and hit the igniter. So I had to wonder about Tom's assertion about "propane gas covering the back of his house."

Also, before the hard core left wingers here start flaming me, let me first clarify that, yes, there was propane in the tank when I had the chewed hose problem. Also, I am not questioning Perriello's statement because he is a Democrat. I just don't like it when any politician tries to manipulate public opinion to his advantage, regardless of his political persuasion. It is no secret that Perriello has a tough race ahead of him for reelection and I am sure that he is willing to play this unfortunate incident for all the sympathy it is worth. If that is what he is up to, then he is no better than Mike Troxel, the idiot Tea Party blogger who started this crap.

"I just don't like it when any politician tries to manipulate public opinion to his advantage, regardless of his political persuasion."
Like Eric Cantor obviously tried to do, although unsuccessfully!

Exactly. That bullet did more damage to Cantor's foot than it did to the office building.

Shock! People who live in democracies get mad when their government nationalizes large industries.

Tom got himself into this mess and he expects Eric Cantor to bail him out?
Posted by: Tatum | March 29, 2010 at 08:40 AM
And which industries would you be talking about, Tatum?
Obviously your can't be talking about health care. The private insurance companies are quite happy with the conservative bill that passed the Congress. It does nothing to change the role they play. In fact, they stand to gain by the bill. Witness their steeply rising stock prices.
You can't be talking about the banks. The government just announced it will be selling off its stake in Citigroup during 2010.And most of the banks either have or shortly will be repaying all TARP funds and getting the government out of their business. And I might remind you that TARP was initiated during a Republican Administration.
The car companies? It may take a while longer to get the government share returned to private hands, but there is little doubt that will happen. Although Chrysler may ultimately disappear altogether. It may just not be viable in the long term.
But feel free to keep making silly statements about nationalization. Keep screaming about socialism. It nicely illustrates that the tea baggers have nothing at all to say.

Yo I am a putz.
I didn't say "Bailout". I said "Nationalize".
Bailout - The financial rescue of a faltering business or other organization.
Nationalize - To bring under the ownership or control of a nation, as industries and land.
Posted by: Tatum | March 29, 2010 at 02:26 PM
And nothing has been "nationalized". Particularly not the health care system.
Rave on, Tatum.

No putz. Not the health care system, the health insurance industry. "To bring under the control of a nation".
According to V.P. Joe Biden, "You know we’re going to control the insurance companies.". The government, is going to control the insurance companies that make up the health insurance industry.

Regulating the insurance industry and "controlling" the most egregious abuses and methods by which they in some cases defrauded their policyholders is hardly the same thing as the government taking a controlling interest in them. It is not by any rational definition "nationalization".
As I say, rave on. Tea baggers don't need to be rational. You just need to be repetitive. And loud!
Posted by: Tatum is a putz | March 29, 2010 at 08:03 PM
Hey putz. The definition came from dictionary.com. I suspect Websters would have something similar.
The defintion doesn't say "take controling interest" it says control. You're argument's with Webster and Biden. Not me.
