Since he served as Secretary of Education in the cabinet of then-Gov. Chuck Robb, my guess would be that he is a Democrat.

doubt it...does not seem like the type to get his hands dirty with the rough and tumble of the Gubernatorial nomination process. That being said, its good to know that he is a Democrat

He cannot be a Republican: he is intelligent, educated and thoughtful!

Well he serves on the Board of Directors of Wachovia and Philip Morris. If he is a democrat, let me know how that goes over with the democratic primary voters.

Gee, Ben. This piece of fluff was published in a Democratic forum. What was your first clue?
But, no way that Casteen would be a contender for governor. Too many people will never forget how he circled the wagons and tried to cover up UVA's culpability in the Love murder. We have yet to hear the last about that.
I'll bet that Casteen is sweating his balls off that Huguley decides to plea bargain and that his case doesn't go to trial contested. If it does, then the commonwealth's attorney will bring in all the evidence of Huguley's violent proclivities and how much of it the university ignored. Bad stuff waiting out there.

HisRoc- Its damn shameful how much the sports jocks are still set above the purpose of higher institutions of learning.
If Casteen is in fact responsible for ignoring violent behavior on by sport jocks on campus as well as trying to hush up the Love murder, that needs to be brought to the surface.

Spock,
Agree, but one clarification: I don't think that anyone tried to hush up the Love murder. However, Casteen was very quick to exonerate any member of the UVA faculty or staff, Lacrosse Coach Starcia in particular, from being culpable in the murder by not reporting Huguley's violent behavior in the past.

Casteen is a pompous ass who treats the non-wealthy in Charlottesville like peasants.
So, yeah, he's probably a Democrat.

Doubt it. He probably would see it as a demotion from President of UVA.

Good comment Brandon, but I don't know if Casteen is that egotistical or not.
