Should he have let the entire company go under to temporarily save those jobs?
Posted by: Joe Taylor | September 29, 2010 at 12:13 AM
How about not stealing the company from his partners?
How about cutting his own pay first?
He's proud about inflicting this pain!
He's proud about outsourcing to cut benefits and improve his profits.
That really sick.

AND he's ahead in the polls!

GOP internal polls with an oversampling of GOPers for the Fimian race I'm sure, LL -- Miss Fair & Balanced you aren't
Posted by: truthteller | September 29, 2010 at 01:38 AM
that's somewhat embarrassing.

I laughed! I cried! I ran the gamut of emotions!

Just another liberal hack job. His company is US Inspect, which does home inspections for potential buyers. Of course they cut jobs when the housing market crashed.
Play the ENTIRE video of his speech.
Posted by: Jack | September 29, 2010 at 09:19 AM
Truthteller -- NOT an internal poll. This was a poll commissioned by Virginia businesses.

A businessman fighting to stay alive is crime under Gerry Connolly. If he had just hired some lobbyists to bribe Connolly, then Connolly would have given him government money.

I imagine he is talking about jobs being lost by the bad economy. Do you really think he is bragging to a campaign rally that he likes to fire people?
Posted by: Chris | September 29, 2010 at 11:04 AM
It was a Republican rally. Of course, they brag about firing people. The Republicans in Congress just opposed a bill to SAVE people's jobs.
It's what they do so well.

The folks at ccadvertising, who did the alleged "poll" are masters at push polling and gleaning data on the folks they call with their robo poll.
Oversampling of GOP voters and leading questions are the stock in trade of this firm that receives money from NRCC Chair Pete Session, Grovr Norquist, and other "pillars" of the community.
It's a desperate move to save Keith Fimian.
Posted by: Incredulous | September 29, 2010 at 02:14 PM
If you get a wave big enough to put 300 Republicans in the House then Fimian will probably be one of them. Absent that, no way Fimian wins this seat.
The competitive seats in Virginia are the 2nd and 5th. That's where Republican resources would be wisely allocated. The 11th is not going to flip with a candidate like this.

Lame. Bad analogy. It doesn't work. Reminds me of the attempt to spin Harry Reid's “It's a great day for America. Only 36000 Americans lost their jobs last month.”

As I have said all along, the Fimian Fanatics just don't want to believe what comes out of Fimian's mouth when he has not rehearsed his speech. He is his own worst enemy. No wonder why Connolly sent his supporters to vote for Keith in the primary.
Keith is the gift that keeps on giving!!!!
Posted by: John Wayne | September 29, 2010 at 07:49 PM
John Wayne, I hardly think Connolly supporters decided the Republican primary. But I agree that Fimian winning the primary was the best possible outcome for Connolly.
Posted by: Dan | September 29, 2010 at 08:59 PM
I would agree that Fimian is no match for Connolly, EXCEPT this year. People are pissed off at this Congress and those members who voted for a stimulus that did nothing and Obamacare when it was very clear that Americans were opposed it to. The arrogance of this Congress is not lost on the voters of the 11th district.

Ben,
This is taken out of context and you know it. When Fimian tells this story he is speaking of the state of the economy and explaining the logistics of his company. He was not gloating about firing employees--he was lamenting the fact that the economy put his company in this position.
Such a stretch. You must be looking at the same numbers the Connolly camp is. While we all know you aren't a Connolly fan this seat will be a tough loss.

Speaking of this race, DPV's been hitting the direct mail hard - I've gotten two pieces from them yesterday and today.

Video subtitles would have been helpful.

Ben,
Please post the entire video. Let's see the context of what Fimian said. If you don't we'll take it as an admission that you butchered the speech to fit a narrative you wanted to create.
