UPDATE: Krystal responds on NBC 12 in Richmond tonight. According to Ryan Nobles, she is also going on the Today Show later this week.

So the link to BVBL who had to go through another site to get this story took it down and you're left with a picture of a girl that may resemble Krystal (although it probably is).
Overall, who cares about what someone did in the past. Must be a slow news day if you have to the dumpster of BVBL.
Posted by: DanielK | October 05, 2010 at 04:30 PM
There is a Clemson sign in the background of one of the pictures. These don't look like they are from her first year of college (she attended Clemson her first year). So it might be safe to assume they are some sort of friends of hers from Clemson getting together.
Photo was taken 1/14/2002 10:17 p.m. according to the metadata.
That would make it her junior year in college.
Posted by: Nice Try | October 05, 2010 at 04:35 PM
I wouldn't call that a "dominatrix costume." It's a black tank top and skirt with a Santa hat. BFD, as Joe Biden would say. Plus, it's going to make guys vote for her.
Ben, you need a woman. Or a man. I don't care about your preference. Please just take care of it.
Posted by: SatirclAlx | October 05, 2010 at 04:41 PM
This is just low class. Why put out stuff like this? It's not like she has any chance to win anyway. It's like kicking a crippled puppy.
Posted by: steve vaughan | October 05, 2010 at 04:43 PM
If a puppy is crippled, they put it to sleep. The same should happen to her political career between this and the stuff you've written about, Steve.
Posted by: Nice Try | October 05, 2010 at 04:46 PM
Interesting comparison here between O'Donnell and Krystal.
Posted by: BlackOut | October 05, 2010 at 04:46 PM
SatirclAlx- did you miss the leash?
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 05, 2010 at 04:48 PM
I'm waiting for the Ball ad, "I'm not a Christmas dominatrix. I'm you..."
Posted by: Nice Try | October 05, 2010 at 04:48 PM
I saw the leash. It's still not a dominatrix costume in my book. No thigh high boots, whips or other instruments of torture... I guess I have higher standards than you.
Posted by: SatirclAlx | October 05, 2010 at 04:54 PM
What do they have in her crotch in that one picture?
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 05, 2010 at 04:57 PM
And that is because you perceive it to be a 'costume' rather than a concept.
Posted by: Ben is Right (this time) | October 05, 2010 at 04:58 PM
Nice Try_ the stuff I wrote about had to do with campaign finances, that's a serious political issue. It wasn't about something she did as a college kid. Is there anybody here who didn't do something in college that they wouldn't want to see on the Internet? If so, you should have had some fun while you had the chance. I predict if we adopt this standard we only be electing very boring, unimaginative people in the future.
Posted by: steve vaughan | October 05, 2010 at 04:59 PM
So essentially anyone in a costume wearing a leash is having an encounter with a dominatrix? That's a stretch even for you, but hey...It helped get a shitload of hits on your page so it was worth it right?
Posted by: DanielK | October 05, 2010 at 04:59 PM
Steve- what's to say this hurts her campaign?
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 05, 2010 at 05:03 PM
This won't hurt her campaign because outside of the blogs this won't get any real coverage. But then again if this gets more news coverage than Ben's well written and researched piece about Jim Moran then that's pathetic.
All this could show is that the GOP bloggers are a little worried of her that they have to dumpster dive for petty, silly pictures taken close to a decade ago. Besides, she was having fun which I'm sure most people did when they were younge and probably still do. We can find dirt on anyone if we want.
Posted by: DanielK | October 05, 2010 at 05:13 PM
NLS- well, that's not really the point. I already wrote a couple of stories that hurt her campaign. This is just the continuation of the trend of both parties going down the low road in politics as fast as they can go. And it's an extension of the loss of privacy that's a very real issue in America. Again, do you want everything you did in college posted on the Internet?
Posted by: steve vaughan | October 05, 2010 at 05:14 PM
this is sad Ben....its college...people are stupid in college...I am sure you were...for you to give this attention is not cool...this college prank has nothing to do with her ability to be a good Congresswoman...

Posted by: steve vaughan | October 05, 2010 at 05:50 PM
If you find this offensive you need to check yourself.
I`d get this over to reddit ASAP and by the end of the week she`s rolling the campaign donations in.
Also I`ll put Krystal in thigh highs up and the "wide standing" Republican hypocrites can keep their Scott Brown Nudes.

Posted by: Loudoun Insider | October 05, 2010 at 06:03 PM
Now that I think of it, I had a whip as part of a sexy Halloween costume. I wore a sexy black dress, really high black heels, and a black mask. It was either 1995 or 96, which would make me 33 or 34 then. I wonder if anyone has pics of it. No way could I fit intop that dress now!

Posted by: Not Dave Marsden | October 05, 2010 at 06:53 PM
for what its worth, the Wittman campaign sent an email to all the bloggers they are in concert with asking that the pictures be taken down and not talked about.
Posted by: Chris | October 05, 2010 at 07:19 PM
Well, as silly and pointless as it is, I think it is probably fair game, given the world that we live in. And I actually understand why a Republican blog would want to make the most of this (Just as Democrats like to make the most of some of the truly ridiculous things we've watched Republicans do.) Politics isn't for wusses, and it does have the power to destroy people, even good people, which is one of the reason we can all sit back and complain about the type of people who are elected, blah blah blah. So I get it.
But Ben....sweetheart! I just have to say, as someone who respects you and this blog a whole lot, you didn't do yourself or this blog any favors by playing along today.
Posted by: Gretchen Laskas | October 05, 2010 at 07:32 PM
Yeah, Ben, you could have at least posted up all the photos instead of making us go to the white power site to look at them...
Posted by: Spock | October 05, 2010 at 08:35 PM
This is tasteless, pointless and meanspirited and sheds little light on Virginia politics or the issues of the day
Grow up Ben and quit trashing people for no good reason! You may not realize it, but a growing number of people are questioning your relevance and your progressive credentials as you go on slashing and burning candidates
Posted by: truthteller | October 05, 2010 at 10:48 PM
Yes, I'm sure photos of a candidate with a rubber cock in her mouth will do wonders for her campaign and her political future.
Posted by: Ho Ho Ho | October 05, 2010 at 11:17 PM
Steve, all you did was rewrite what Virtucon had already investigated about her finances, added about 2 new details and then they further blew this whole thing open.
Posted by: Ho Ho Ho | October 05, 2010 at 11:23 PM
For all of you complaining about me covering this, it was on Richmond TV tonight- and she is going on the Today Show to discuss later this week. Are you all outraged at them as well?
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 06, 2010 at 01:26 AM
My outraged at all.....or surprised. This is what politics has come to. But how does it feeling knowing that garbage like this that you didn't even break is making such major headlines and the Jim Moran piece you put so much time and effort into got flushed down the toilet by your covering this. I don't think your covering it is the issue but how you covered it and why. It's not a major news story because you covered it but rather because respectable media outlets and journalists got the story and she is responding to them.
Krystal is going to go on the Today Show and hit it out of the park and come out making the bloggers who broke this story look like immature high schoolers.
Posted by: DanielK | October 06, 2010 at 04:52 AM
Sorry about the typo above. I meant to type- I am not outraged or surprised.
Posted by: DanielK | October 06, 2010 at 04:54 AM
Dan- here's the reality. This is a story whether she is male or female. Straight or gay. It comes to one point- is she ready to be a serious leader in Congress? I think if she was 55 and we were talking about something from college voters would overlook it. But she is 28- this was taken about 5 years ago. She's clearly not ready for prime time.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 06, 2010 at 05:31 AM
If you think people can't mature and move on from something years ago then I don't know what to tell you. You are on this story because it got you hits to your site. She have become a mother and businesswoman since then. There should be no timetable as to when someone should run for office based on what they do. It's not a mistake what she did here, everyone is entitled to their fun or whatever. There are enough "leaders" in Congress who in my opinion have done substantially worse things but are still in office. Besides, you even noted on Facebook her as the "Hottest Congressional Candidate" which means, at least for you this also has to do with her looks and that she's woman.
You covering the story is not the issue or anyone else picking up on it but how your cover it is the main thing but then again as displayed in the comments no one is really surprised. I wonder if the Today Show will use the dame headline as you did??
Posted by: DanielK | October 06, 2010 at 06:14 AM
What's really sad is that this is the story that makes the headlines in the MSM while the Moran stuff doesn't. Don't blame Ben for that - there are much bigger problems in our society.
Posted by: Loudoun Insider | October 06, 2010 at 07:57 AM
So, Ball is going on the Today show to talk about why she had a dildo in her mouth? I don't know who will look dumber -- her or the Today show. I wonder if Matt Lauer will ask her about the mystery $5 million in K12 stock that she received as part of a "settlement" that K12 denied having anything to do with.
Posted by: Nice Try | October 06, 2010 at 09:29 AM
No, Ben. You're not ready for primtime....you're a horny little teenager that has never seen women acting sexy in real life before apparently so you need to share these pics like you discovered gold or something. Today Show is going to cover this because you're kind publicized it...not to "out" her. Now it's legitimate news in terms of how immature politics has become.
With your standard almost every bachelorette party I have ever seen in bars would be disqualified from public office. Krystal Ball would make a better elected official than any Republican in congress so that's good enough for me.....and it should be good enough for you. But of course your quest for attention is more important than the lives of others. I warned you about this before but its part of a pattern and you deserve what you get. You have lost all credibility on any other issue...nice work dumbass.
Posted by: Jim McBride | October 06, 2010 at 11:45 AM
Jim, I'll let your comment speak for itself on who has maturity issues.

Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 06, 2010 at 12:10 PM
Jim, c'mon. Do you honestly think that Krystal isn't reveling in the attention she's getting now? Why else would she go on NBC 12 and then on the Today Show? She's got more earned media out of those pictures than she's managed to get out of her entire campaign.
She's going to use those pictures to their full extent. You guys shouldn't be boycotting Ben, you should be praising him for breathing some life into this dead-man-walking campaign.
Posted by: Brian W. Schoeneman | October 06, 2010 at 12:22 PM
This is from an email being forwarded around:
"it may be worth your time to look into her divorce of her first husband, Aaron Peterson, after 6 months due to having a 2-month affair with her present husband, Jonathan Dariyanani. Aaron and Krystal were married a few years after college before she was wooed away by Jonathan’s money, which now seems to be pumped into her campaign in a less than scrupulous manner."
Posted by: Nice Try | October 06, 2010 at 12:23 PM
Her hair looks really good in this clip. Is she flat ironing it? Whatever she's doing, keep it up.
Posted by: Kate | October 06, 2010 at 12:34 PM
Should I really praise someone for trying to embarrass another person and it backfiring on them? Like every time Sarah Palin brought up Bill Ayers I shouldve thanked her for rallying the Dems? Try again. BTW email forwards are like the toilet paper of journalism....take a class and learn what real reporting is about.
Posted by: Jim McBride | October 06, 2010 at 02:16 PM
Jim-
Like it or not those pictures will hurt her. Regardless of whether they should have been posted or not.
She may increase name ID, but not in a good way.
Posted by: James | October 06, 2010 at 02:27 PM
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, Jim. Ben did you a favor, even if you can't see that.
Posted by: Brian W. Schoeneman | October 06, 2010 at 02:27 PM
She said it was a “gag” party.
I would agree with that but she didn’t seem to be gagging, and any chick that can accomplish that feat has my vote….lol
Someone send me a yard sign.
Seriously, this kind of crap should not disqualify someone anymore than that chick up north that said she was a witch.
Whether they can cast spells or swallow a ? should not be what the voters are interested in. It should be what they stand for and what they would do if elected.
Posted by: change | October 06, 2010 at 05:01 PM
My question is, where did the pictures come from. They are obviously real, because she is complaining about them being posted. But the Virtucon people didn't TAKE the pictures, they found them somewhere.
Where did the pictures come from? Did she have them on a facebook entry at some point? Or up on flickr? Who was the first person to post these pictures to the web?
Posted by: Charles | October 06, 2010 at 05:04 PM
If Wittman says take them down then I would follow his lead. I'm still waiting to hear why treating a woman like that is justified EVER.
Posted by: Jim McBride | October 06, 2010 at 06:11 PM
how is this sexist?
I haven't seen anyone explain that
she's the one who went to a party and objectified herself
Posted by: QQestion | October 06, 2010 at 07:31 PM
For the record, I talked about the sexist issues over at Blue Virginia earlier today. My opinion only, of course.

I basically agree with you
Posted by: QQestion | October 06, 2010 at 08:18 PM
I don't see how this is sexist. I'm a woman. I don't see sexist here, although I do see funny. If this were a video, I'd expect to see it on Tosh.0.
Seriously. If you don't want to be laughed at for being dressed in a skimpy Santa outfit and for having a Reindeer's rubber member in your mouth, then don't dress in a skimpy Santa outfit and have a Reindeer's rubber member in your mouth.
It's just that simple, people.

Jim, Ball is married. You can stop with the internet white knight nonsense already. She's taken.
Posted by: Brian W. Schoeneman | October 06, 2010 at 09:21 PM
Totally agree with Brian and Gretchen. Seems possible that the Ball campaign leaked the photos to get (the massive amount of) earned media. And to say this is sexist doesn't make sense.
Posted by: SillyPolitics | October 06, 2010 at 11:47 PM
I'd seriously doubt that the Ball campaign leaked the photos. I'd also seriously doubt something this petty and dumb came from the Wittman campaign. More likely an overzelous supporter.
Does show the power of blogs though. I think this is ridiculous, but I now have write about it because other newspapers and TV picked it up.

"Jim, Ball is married. You can stop with the internet white knight nonsense already. She's taken."
Unless of course you have a bigger checkbook than Dariyanani. Although Jimmy is probably a lot more interested in the rubber dong than Krystal.

John Wayne (hey, what do you think of them remaking "True Grit"?) : That doesn't make sense on several levels.

It's not her fault. Her parents gave her an adult entertainer name.
I don't buy KB's statement that these photos getting around is sexist. She posed for the pictures. No one mad her do it. I would buy that this is something KB did that maybe she regrets as a professional and a mom and running for office.
If so, just own up to that, KB. You engaged in a really funny youthful indiscretion. Okay: a really, really funny youthful indiscretion.
Posted by: Ho Ho Ho | October 09, 2010 at 05:03 PM
The hypocrisy is staggering. Please, as a woman, I ask those who posted to treat women the same. That means Republican women get the same treatment as Dems. Equal rights mean the same standards for everyone. Dems are screaming equal rights constantly, but are the first to jump ship when it suits them.
