Arizona is dealing with the results of allowing this kind of bigotry and hate to take over the political discourse.
UPDATE: The lynch mob rolls on to the full committee with Dave Albo of Fairfax County casting a "yea" vote that was decisive (tie votes fail) for this disgrace of legislation.

In case anyone missed the original post on Peace's bill in Virginia.

Oh. My. Fucking. God.
Conservatives, as usual, have returned to their default mode: violence. Just as in the civil rights era.
But it never stops being horrifying.
A 9-year old girl, slaughtered deliberately out of pure hate.

You guys are nuts... You have no solutions and when someone tries to come up with common-sense solutions on the right, you call out "hatred!" "bigotry!". Get a life!

By the way, linking these murders to this legislation is also nuts! As well as underhanded.

Well, the president's call for greater civility seems to have lasted not even a week. "Bigotry", "Hate", "violence", "slaughtered".
I guess we've returned to our regular programming.

This is a new low for NLS - using a poor murdered girl like this just to make an unrelated political point makes me sick.

YOU get my nomination for weenie of the week.

The hate and the bigotry came first. Politics had nothing to do with creating it.
On another note, I do not understand the liberal fetish with linking murders to their opponents political positions, no matter how ridiculously tenuous the causal link is.

Oh please, BVBL is decrying violent speech and linking crimes with a particular political outlook. The hypocrisy is too thick.

Great article: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/29/arizona-style-immigration-bills-emerge-new-state-legislatures/#
Excerpt from the article:
But Republican Rep. Beckie Currie said she has no problem with people who follow proper procedures to immigrate to the U.S.
"We're not making 'illegal' illegal," Currie said. "It was already illegal."

bubb,
By “political outlook” do you mean those who support “illegals” coming into the commonwealth and then committing crimes against our citizens?
Being of the opinion that this should not happen is not limited to one party. There are many on both sides that believe we should not allow this type of thing to happen.

I think the cheese has slipped off the cracker of the purveyor of this blog. Delegate Peace's legislation simply means that illegal immigrants can't cut in line to disadvantage children of citizens and legal immigrants. What's so hateful about that? The left fancies itself as mavens of fairness and the Peace legislation is the epitome of fairness for the law-abiding. Also, and I'll reiterate, the left has tried to lecture us on civility since before the Giffords (et. al.) shooting, but when people have the cheek to disagree with their ideas and offer alternatives, we are now the haters! Some civility!

WC,
Didn’t you get the memo? Civility means you must agree with the liberal viewpoint.

Why has this blog moved away from substantive political reflections and towards personal attacks on electeds that the writer seems to have a personal vendetta against?
Posted by: Robert Scott | January 30, 2011 at 09:29 PM
How can I have a "personal vendetta" against Chris Peace? I'm not sure if I have ever met him (if so, it was in passing).

"On another note, I do not understand the liberal fetish with linking murders to their opponents political positions"
Yeah, Brian. Or even taking a tragic suicide and spinning out bizarre murder conspiracy fantasies like they did with Vince Foster.
Oh, Wait! Those weren't liberals, were they? And that's hardly an isolated example of Republicans behaving that way.
And bubberella is right. BVBL decrying violent speech and linking crimes with a particular political outlook raises hypocrisy to new heights. His blog provides a steady diet of exactly that.

Come on NLS, how about some self reflection.
I am just a casual observer of blogs, but it appears to me that when the GA is in session, you pick a few select legislators to drill. and on top of that, you just call them a "weenie" and back up your arguments with links to what have others have remarked about the particular policy. Where is your research and observations?
And when the GA isnt in town, you just wait for Cooch to do a press release. I'd reckon that most of your posts during the off season are about Cooch. and by "about" I mean that you simply change the size of your heading font and link someone else's comments.
I attended the committee that these bills were heard in, and I thought Peace presented a very logical argument for why this was solid public policy, We all pay tax dollars tht we expect to go into our communities and towns by supporting public safety, education, a basic safety net for those who are having a rough go at things, and instead that money has gone to folks who have broken our immigration laws- laws that i might add, are adhered to by millions. I
Is our current immigration system giving incentives for those that chose to come here illegally?
Yes.
I know I just touched on several topics, but I felt they needed addressing.
