They still have to win one more game to be the 2011 GMU!

Yep. The biggest, hardest, and most memorable game for Mason's unprecedented run was knocking off the #1 seed favored to win the entire tournament. VCU's story is nice, but they ain't this year's George Mason until they do that.

Right now, VCU (and to a much smaller extent, the last Big East team, CT) are all that is keeping this from going down as the WORST NCAA (for me) I can remember!

dang impressive

final 4!

@Blank & Va Blogger - No, that is not correct. VCU was already this year's version of GMU, regardless whether they made the Final Four. VCU's path to get to the Elite Eight was already far more impressive than what Mason did (and their run was pretty cool.)
This is easily the most memorable Cinderella story in the history of the NCAA tourney.
The only downside is that VCU will lose Shaka Smart later this year. :-/

Not Bubby - doubtful this is easily the most memorable. I think 2006 GMU will still hold that title.
The most significant note of VCU's run is they were a play-in team and most analysts said they didn't belong. They most certainly proved they do belong, but their route was a little easier then Mason's 06 run.
Both impressive and go VCU '11. Too bad their coach will have no loyalty to the school.
