Quit trying to tie this to George Mason. The CAA isn't in the Final Four. VCU is in the Final Four.
This is more about about Richmond and its hometown school than the CAA.

Not Bubby, let CAA fans take some pride when one of their teams does well. Does Ben saying that somehow reduce your happiness?

VCU has GMU to thank for even being there. Had GMU not phoned-in their performance in the CAA tourney VCU would not have been invited to the dance. Also GMU has set the stage for CAA teams with the '06 run.
GO VCU - Butler is beatable by this team.

Sorry Not Bubby.
Everyone in the CAA, including JMU, GMU, ODU, William & Mary, etc. are all rooting for them.
Many people complained about the addition of VCU to the tourney - they (plus GMU this year and before) are proving that the CAA is a real conference that produces competitive teams.

That is awesome.
Everybody in Virginia ought to be rooting for them.

i saw on another blog (just accidentally popped on my screen) that one cannot buy a VCU Rams basketball t-shirt online because no one thought they had a chance.

I think most Mason fans hate VCU and VCU fans hate Mason. And the beauty of it: Rams were pulling for Mason in 2006 and Patriots are pulling for VCU in 2011. The CAA is a close knit conference. In 2006 Mason fans chanted CAA after each victory in the tourney, VCU fans, I believe, have done the same.

This is huge for VCU, and Ben is right, it is also huge for the CAA. But it is even bigger for the city of Richmond.

I agree with RichmondDem, CAA Fan, Brian, Scott, blank, and kelley. They put this in the appropriate perspective, unlike Not Bubby.

@Kelley there was the same problem with Mason gear in 2006. Of course the Mason booksstore was run by B&N (not sure if it still is) and they didn't seem to care about student life whatsoever.
Good news though, at the tourney they print tons and tons of hats, shirts, everything under the sun. They normally do that for the conference champions too; and after the tourney ends you and buy them for $5 on the way out of the stadium. Of course you're out of luck if you can't get tickets.

Is this the best tournament Cinderalla story, ever?

WHy wouldn't UVa fans support VCU. After all, it isn't Tech.
Posted by: Who Cares | March 28, 2011 at 11:03 AM
Continue to strongly agree with all commentators, except for Not Bubby's arrogant comments. Go VCU. All of Virginia, the CAA, and especially Richmond is (or should be) backing you.
