There are a long line of Delegates speaking to the accomplishments of Bruce.
I'll never forget the note he sent me soon after it first became known I was the anonymous author behind this site. It was encouraging and he said that he thought these new ways of communication that reached more Virginians and brought them into the process were a great thing. Always a class act in every way.
Amen.

Every current and former member of the House that I have talked to today feels like we have lost a member of our family. We are all in tears and in shock.

I watched his professionalism on the floor. I never met him but I could tell just from watching him how careful he was at his job and what a great working relationship he had with the Speaker. I so sorry for everyone that lost their friend.

We never know the struggles another may face,
Suffice it to say that in all good people
theirs are ours, and ours are theirs…

Bruce was one of the kindest people I ever knew. As a cub reporter I remember him gently steering me to the right places - and how to stay out of trouble - in the House. He was such a pleasure to be around. He will be forever missed. My prayers are with his family.

Bruce was a fabulous person to work with. My thoughts and prayers thoughts are with his family and his extended family at the General Assembly.

Oh God....if he wanted to be free of the walls of the Capitol and all the judgemental people of the GA, this was a terrible, tragic way to do it.
My first week working there was his first week as Clerk. I will never forget his kindness and how much he cared deeply for EVERY person.
I just wish he knew how much it was mutual for all who knew him. In a sad way though , I understand all of this.

What a tragedy and loss. Even though I was in the Senate got to know Bruce and his kindness and professionalism. He had really wanted that job when it became available so I am puzzled by this unfortunate death.

as a rookie delegate i experienced first hand what a kind and gentle soul this man had...even though i was the new guy on the block he went out of his way to help me in every possible way. it was clear that he served virginia and everything it reprensented to the core of his being...he loved his family, his commonwealth , all his staff and all of the delegates he helped thru the process...virginia and his family have lost a great leader...he will be greatly missed paul nichols
