I think Barbara Favola might be the best public speaker on the Democratic ticket this year. Check this out and see if you agree.
I especially like where she outlines her campaigns secret 3-D glasses strategy.

Why does Favola keep calling it the Arlington County Board "of Supervisors"? She's the only person I've ever heard add that & she does it all the time.

Isn't Favola the Saslaw candidate that Ben trashed a few weeks ago?
Is this what passes for change of mind here at NLS?
;-)

Sounds like a real estate developers' toady for wanting to raise the gas tax. Today, taxpayers subsidize overweight trucks by more than $200 million annually. Why should anyone pay higher gas taxes until the General Assembly has the stones to stand up to and defeat the Truck lobby?

I literally couldn't watch this for longer than 3 seconds.

She leads off her policy talk by saying she advocates raising taxes.
Yikes. Ben, you should have run. At least you would have kept this interesting. Caren is going to tear Favola to pieces.

Martin,
I think Ben's tongue is planted firmly in his cheek here.

Brian, as I'm sure you'll discover in November, most voters in Fairfax aren't mindless idiots and don't fall for the boilerplate Republican stance on taxes. Whoever wins the Dem primary in the 31st will beat Merrick pretty easily in the general election, the same as David Bulova will easily beat you.

Favola is the key to a Democratic Senate. Onward and upward!

Every precinct in Dranesville voted against Mark Warner's sales tax increase.
Posted by: tmtfairfax | June 24, 2011 at 08:14 AM
But all of them voted for Mark Warner several years later.
I like that Republicans are still cocky this year. Keep that confidence going into the fall campaigns.

NJSM, you're absolutely right. Voters in Fairfax aren't idiots. And they're not going to fall for the boilerplate Democratic stance on gas taxes. Whoever wins the Democratic primary will have their work cut out for them because Caren Merrick is a dynamic, smart and hard working candidate and she's got solid support from the entire Republican party throughout the Commonwealth. Your putative front runner can't even give a stump speech.
As for my race, please, by all means, keep underestimating me.

Brian,
Where does Caren stand on a woman's right to choose or on marriage equality? This district voted overwhelmingly against the marriage amendment.
McDonnell was a dynamic, smart, and hardworking candidate and Deeds couldn't give a stump speech and McDonnell still lost by 10 points!

I come down in the middle, thinking Favola could depress D turnout if she turns out to be as lackluster a campaigner as Ben and some early indicators suggest.
This is naturally a Democratic district, but not so strong of one that we can afford to be complacent and pick bad candidates.
Jaime has the advantage of motivating the Democratic base and non-traditional communities, and the potential to expand the field of Democratic voters. He also is working with consultants and staff who know the district well and have roots in VA Dem politics. Favola's prime advantage is money, but being a lackluster candidate may negate that if it depresses the activist base

Newsflash: While a member of the Arlington "Board", Favola takes 2 taxpayer funded trips overseas to pontificate about how wise and leaned her constituents are and to learn about communism and circumcision or some shit.
Does Ben mince her like he did Plum and team Uranium? No, of course not, because he is a coward and a fraud - has about as much talent as one of Katie Couric's farts.

NBDC- If only you knew how wrong you were! I told Jaime about these trips two months ago. I might write more about it tonight.
