It goes without saying that I really hope this story is some misunderstanding. Agh.

I agree.

Let's hope it is just that. As much as we hope a terrible accusation like this is a misunderstanding those are very specific charges about specific acts against the victims. Either way, let's hope the case is fully investigated because as many times we hear about these terrible cases we rarely hear about them when they turn out to be "misunderstandings" or even worse false accusations.

Could be worse. I think. We had an allegation come out here in PWC in 1996 against a School Board member ... days after he unexpectedly dropped dead. Guy couldn't even defend himself.

You honestly believe separate, individual reports by three young girls, aged 9, 10, and 13, could constitute a "misunderstanding?" They got a frickin DNA warrant you clown - do the math.
But of course, I concede that this is all likely part of some sinister plot masterminded by Michelle Bachmann, Bob McDonnell, Vladimir Putin, and the Easter Bunny aimed at dismantling the liberal fabric of the People's Republic of Falls Church.
Get bent.

Wow. Just.... wow.
If this doesn't show Ben's true colors, I don't know what does. A prominent NOVA Democrat charged with a sick crime of child molestation, and Ben tries to dismiss it as a "misunderstanding."
Imagine the 60-point type font if this was a NOVA Republican.
You sick piece of shit.

Fist of all, Ben posted this story before the specific details of the charges came out, so cut him some slack.
Second, Gardiner is innocent until proven guilty, and we should all reserve judgment until we have all the facts.

One thing Gardner wasnt doing was keeping his lawn up.
Geeeez how could an elected official in such a small community get away with such a crappy looking lawn.
Trim the damn shrubs for goodness sakes.

If true, this is so sad. Brian Schoeneman is absolutely right about a presumption of innocence. I join others who hope this is a terrible mistake. And yes, I would say that if it was a prominent local Republican too. Especially if it was somebody I knew personally.
Mike blogged as Blueweeds for years, and he always seemed so sensible and kind. I hope this is a huge misunderstanding because it all seems so tragic.

Not that Ben needs my help, and not that I'm inclined to defend him when he expresses a political opinion, "Not Bubby," but he did NOT try "to dismiss it as a 'misunderstanding.'" He said "I really hope this story is some misunderstanding."
Nor did I when I agreed.

Oh geez...the "object sexual penetration" here is Brian W. Schoeneman crawling up Ben's butt...made too funny by his typo..."fist of all, Ben"...hahahaha (hey...disgusting tea-bagging talk opened the door on this kind of stuff).
Also..."innocent until proven guilty?"....not with that pic. He did it. Look at him.

What can I say, Gnarly - I have a bias towards fair criticism. Sorry about the iPad fat finger typo there.

If this were Dave Marsden, Ben would have been all over him.

I just read your article and find it really great, so i could not stop myself to admire your writing skills, you really capture the readers and make them to read your stuff from very start till end.

What an absurd report. The one thing that this almost certainly cannot be is a misunderstanding. Either the guy is the nastiest kind of perv imaginable or three young ladies in Falls Church City have committed a heinous felony. There's no middle ground here.
Posted by: Let's Be Free | June 27, 2011 at 01:27 PM
Even if it's very unlikely that it's a misunderstanding, I still hope it's a misunderstanding. This is not the sort of crime to grandstand on.

Hey, it's just another Democrat wanting to show off his "Weiner."
This reminds us of how a few years ago certain left-wing bloggers were projecting their fascination with NAMBLA in an attempt to smear conservatives. I'm sure that was "just a misunderstanding" as well.
