What about lying about Ben Loyola? When does that get covered?
Posted by: Michael | July 21, 2011 at 12:47 PM
The only one who lies is you benny boy...

This was rated not just a lie but "Pants on Fire."
McDonnell earned the worst ruling you can get by Politifact.

It's a liberal organization, of course they're going to say a Republican lied. That's like saying "MSNBC said Obama was telling the truth, therefore he was."

Pot, meet kettle.
Ben Tribbett calling ANYONE else a liar is the height of hypocrisy.
Posted by: Not Bubby | July 21, 2011 at 11:38 PM
What would be so wrong with simply saying that “X" was "wrong" on their view as opposed to "LIED"...
One of the reasons that this nation is so completely divided is the incendiary rhetoric from people like Ben. He thinks his over the top headlines make him more right when they make him more infantile...a role he plays quite well.

This "Pants on Fire" rating for McDonnell is actually even more damning, as it comes from a group that's heavily biased towards Republicans.

This is a bit like when Governor Bob borrowed money from the state employees retirement and used it to "balance" his budget. In fairness, you can argue that borrowing that money from the pension fund during these economic times and repaying it when the economy is doing better is a reasonable thing to do. But doing the full court public relations BS act as if you weren't borrowing from a presumably less problematic future budget to make your current problem go away shows a certain disdain for shooting straight with the voting public. This latest complete misstatement of the facts is just one in a series.
Has anyone been following McDonnell's series of statements on the possibility of a default at the federal level? He fed the speculation that he covets the VP slot on the Republican national ticket by making a predictably ludicrous statement about how a federal default really isn't such a big deal. When subsequently presented by an S&P statement that a downgrade of federal debt would also result in an immediate downgrade of Virginia's AAA bond rating he backpedeled like a mofo.
It is painful to watch a politician sell his soul out of ambition. The guy clearly has national ambitions. And that is fine. But I suspect he knew that what he said about Virginia employees retirement contributions was not accurate. I suspect he also knows that he has to please the far right wing that has come to dominate his party (much to its detriment) if he hopes to realize his national ambitions. That means he has to demonize government employees at all level, be pathologically anti-union and make silly assertions regarding a potential federal default among other things.
As I say, painful to watch.

I would expect that a man like McDonnell, who had spent time in service would have more respect for public servants.

Don't worry, Ben. One more post and your Ben Loyola lies will be off the front page.

How do you figure Michael? Front page is last 6 days.

Aaaah. My mistake. I thought it was based on the number of posts. One post on/one post off sort of thing.
