One of the most disgusting things I've ever seen.
UPDATE: Good for Pat Mullins, he immediately condemned this.

At least they didn't criticize President Bush when he was in office. That would have been evidence that you hate America...

It's stupid and in bad taste. Its' not "one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen." Ben, must have lived a pretty sheltered life.
Posted by: Steve Vaughan | October 31, 2011 at 02:48 PM
Why would anyone do this? It is beyond bad taste. No President deserves this.
Posted by: notsophialoren | October 31, 2011 at 03:14 PM
Steve, apparently you think a bullet hole in the President's head is not shocking.
Posted by: Not Larry Sabato | October 31, 2011 at 03:35 PM
Well, it doesn't strike me as unreasonable that someone (even a Republican!) thought the zombie image was cute and wasn't paying attention to the bullet hole as a bullet hole per se. Or maybe we just play a lot of zombie video games in my house and I'm too jaded....
But you know what? Political hardball cuts both ways. For every time you get away with doing something really dumb (and this was really dumb) you will another time get caught in something that you really thought wasn't that big of a deal. Politics isn't played in a vacuum, but by real people, in a world of real people and for every time we talk about "controlling the narrative" we forget that it isn't only messengers involved, but also audience. That's what makes it interesting.

You know, if the little Republican jack-off that depicted the President of the United States shot in the head spent a night or two in the local lock-up, or better yet, down at the brig at Quantico, getting educated...this kind of incitement would end.

Bubby-when T-Baggers bring guns to their rallies it's all fine and dandy, when OccupyWallst camps out with pizza they are "terrorists" and get beaten up and tear gassed.
People who suck Koch don't go to jail, only the 99% of the rest of us do.

So, how does comparing your political opponents with pedophiles rank on your "disgusting" scale? I mean, since you are such an expert on the topic . . .
Posted by: Noticed | November 01, 2011 at 10:09 AM
NLS-I said it was stupid and in bad taste. It's also trivial. You don't really believe anyone is advocating shooting the president, do you? So I find this a lot less shocking and disgusting than I found it last year when Tea Party folks showed up near Obama appearances with actual guns...supposedly to show their "right to carry." Pehaps my sense of outrage has become worn down over the years.
Posted by: Steve Vaughan | November 01, 2011 at 10:40 AM
It was a 1AM oversight. The person responsible has apologized and resigned.
Posted by: Jack | November 01, 2011 at 10:53 AM
Steve- Actually I do think a lot of right wingers think putting a bullet hole graphic in his head is really funny. And if they are sick enough to enjoy that... well...

Don't forget the DEMOCRAT that showed up at a GOP Rally with a sitting GOP GOvernment and Senator in attendance wearing a side arm - just because he "could." Guys - bad tasse, political mistakes and shenanigans go not only BOTH ways - but ALL ways. Mullins and McDonnell condemned IMMEDIATELY - and that's the end of it.
Posted by: 'Jus sayin' | November 01, 2011 at 11:31 AM
BTW - that DEMOCRAT was in Virginia and the Gov and Senator were in Virginia and the Rally was held at Interstate Van Lines in NOVA - if you were wondering.
Posted by: 'Jus sayin' | November 01, 2011 at 11:32 AM
Same type of people who put targets on candidates and districts. Chicken sh--,sneaky, bushleague types.
(And absolutely no reference to former presidents intended here).
Posted by: HLM | November 01, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Ben, this contrived outrage might be taken a little more seriously had you or any other Democrat blogger in Virginia expressed similar outrage over the REPEATED and at least EQUALLY despicable portrayals of President Bush, reproduced over at NOVA Townhall blog.
Posted by: James Young | November 01, 2011 at 09:44 PM
James, there will always be people who say stupid things and post hateful images. No one can control that. But the key element here is that this wasn't just some random fringe type person or group. This was a local unit of a major political party. I hope you would agree that official party organs should be held to a higher standard than random lunatics. Also, the concept that two wrongs don't make a right is one most of us were taught by about the second grade. The "he did it too" defense is pretty weak coming from adults.
To RPV's credit they immediately repudiated it. That should have pretty much been the end of the story. What is primarily keeping it going is the poor judgement of those trying to defend it.

Like the Democrats have NEVER done something similar.

Anyone hear the news today about the Georgia Republicans plotting a mass casualty attack in Atlanta using Ricin, converting their autoloaders to full auto? Own it.
Posted by: Bubby Hussein, Hillbilly Sheikh | November 02, 2011 at 01:34 PM
Red Alexandria, you're comparing the shooting of "Republican Zombies" to a depiction of a bullet hole in the President's head?
Wow.
Posted by: Let's move on | November 02, 2011 at 02:57 PM
Well, it looks like the story is now international.
