Do you think the GOP voted in the primary to get this result? Or are TN Dems just that clueless and unorganized?

It happens. A couple of decades ago some crazy LaRouchies (I guess that's redundant) won statewide nominations in Illinois. Alvin Greene winning the Senate nomination in South Carolina in 2010. In very low turnout low interest primaries anything can, and sometimes does, happen.
If we had strong party organizations at all state and local levels this sort of thing wouldn't happen. Weak political parties open the door for the crackpots. The crackpots are only a symptom of the larger more important problem.

Yeah, this was the result of Democrats giving up on beating Corker and not even trying to field a legit candidate, so top name on the ballot won.
