RTD has the scoop on this one.
Just yesterday I wrote a story wondering why things like this take so long for Ken Cuccinelli to respond to. Had he put out a statement calling this "inappropriate" last night he could have avoided the over 100 online outlets, almost every TV and radio station that do news in Virginia and CNN/MSNBC from covering this all day long.
To put this into context- I've done big media buys before across Virginia- and to pay for advertising (not nearly as effective as third party coverage) that hit this many places for this long today- it would cost about 2.5 million dollars. That's 2.5 million dollars more in negative press for Cuccinelli because he couldn't bring himself to comment on this when it first happened last night.
Decisions like that make me wonder if someone internally is trying to sabotage the campaign. It's really that absurd to take a 2.5 million dollar beating only to take an action in the afternoon that could have ended it all yesterday.
Meanwhile, the campaign communications "guru" Chris LaCivita still has a lot to answer for with his claims that the campaign didn't know who John Whitbeck was. Actually- this video proves- he nominated Ken at the convention for Governor. If Cooch was smart he'd get a media team with some credibility to help him down the stretch.
